Resumen
In the year 1650 an earthquake destroyed Cuzco’s Merced convent, which necessitated its reconstruction. This allowed for the construction of a cell in the lower cloister, dubbed that of Father Salamanca, whose walls and ceilings are entirely covered by paintings in tempera, which in their totality constitute a unitary iconographical program, in spite of the fact that several styles and the participation of at least two or three different artists can be observed. This program follows the models mandated by the Counter-reformation Church, and its scenes are structured within the four rooms of the cell: the entrance hall features the virtues that a monk should practice; the vestibule depicts Mercedarian iconographical themes; the bedroom shows Christ's Infancy, and the penitential cell his Final Moments, while the socles are adorned with the three ways of mystical life.

Resumen
En este estudio se aborda, bajo una visión general, los textos y las imágenes presentes en algunos epitalamios e himeneos: composiciones poéticas de los siglos XVII y XVIII, realizadas en las cortes europeas con motivo de los matrimonios concertados entre sus miembros. Sus imágenes emblemáticas y simbólicas, son de gran interés para la historia del arte, pues se inspiran en las composiciones de los libros de emblemas del periodo y desarrollan temas habituales en la literatura matrimonial. No obstante, lo más significativo son los mensajes políticos que difunden, fundamentalmente los beneficios políticos de las uniones dinásticas.

Resumen
This paper is about the so called «oral mating» (oris coitus) of the serpents and its symbolism in the books of Latin emblems of the XVIth and XVIIth century, revising the different interpretations that the authors offer of this ancient argument and identifying the Classic, Medieval and Renaissance sources (as iconographical as literary). Likewise, there are established the curious overlaps that such a metaphor presents with mythical archetypes.

Resumen
The present study deals with the first appearance of the image of the Seven Princes. Studying the tradition behind this image, I analyze how the iconographic type of the Seven Princes, evolved both from the point of view of composition as well as iconography. I also treat the interpretation of the image and the cult of these archangels. To this end, the study resorts back to the main sources of angelology and analyzes the most important works of angelic tratise writers from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

Resumen
The purpose of the present work is to scrutinize the mercantil dynamics of women in Río de la Plata within the frame of the events that took place between 1806 and 1810. The exploration of the mechanics of the behaviors that preceded this period is of towering importance for the observation of the changes that occur thereafter. In order to examine those changes we have recourse to a series of variables: the ways of participation in the mercantil practice, , i.e. if the fruits and effects were charged at one's own risk, or through a third person, or if bothmethods were applied, the degree of insertion and permanence in the activity determined by the greater of lesser regularity in the commercial practice, and the commercialized lines and the relation to the routes of oceanic and regional interchange

Resumen
This article analyzes the political action of the Cabildo of Buenos Aires during a brief period of time [1712-1716]. Controled by an aliance of "vecinos", this institution took several months before giving the power to a governor and, after facing seditious fights, it managed to get power back when he died. It is an example of how politics have been influenced by the competition between corporations during the Ancient Regime, to increase their privileges and prerrogatives. However, the Crown reduced the faculties of the Cabildo, restricting them to the resolution of communal issues

In our opinion, it is very important to analyze what happened in the Rio de la Plata between 1806 and 1807 and who the men that were part of these events were, especially because many of these men would have later a fundamental role in the Independence process
