Until a specialised journal of theory, criticism and research is created, there is no profession in the field. Today, reflection and theorisation on design exists, in accordance with the deficiency stated by G. Bonsiepe (1982). But it remains to internalise the idea of reinforcing the theoretical-critical character, academic-scientific dissemination and development in the methodology of design processes, as indispensable instruments to advance development and innovation in this field. Excellence in professional and research postgraduate courses for the training of professionals, teachers and researchers of the highest level is still to be achieved.

Resumen
This article proposes a broad reflection on the role that food and agrindustrial design play nowadays as a starting point for regeneration processes of the local contexts and sustainable development of economic activities at the local level. The culture of design, using the tools of visual communication, of product and strategic design, starts a virtuous cycle between product and territory. The reported cases are about experiences of projects developed in the Mediterranean context.

Resumen
Urban Identity is a subject that has been studied from many perspectives, but its relation with the graphic design as visual expression has been rarely considered. City Branding and Information Design represent the areas, which with the most frequency have approached the issue of graphic design in the cities. This paper does a presentation of the way in which these disciplines link themselves, departing from its basic definitions and exposing the authors and the most relevant initiatives, in order to identify the influence of graphic design in the conformation of the urban identity.

Resumen
The Dalecarlian horse (Swedish: Dalahäst) is a traditional carved and painted wooden statuette from the Swedish province of Dalarna. Today it has become a symbol of Dalarna, as well as of Sweden in general.
Fredrik Swärd's D90 is a magnificent combination of tradition and modernity. Between national identity and design. It encompasses three of what I consider to be the essential characteristics of modern Swedish design: inspiration from nature, simplicity and high quality materials. The choice of cast iron for its industrial manufacture gives it strength and echoes the Scandinavian design ideals of sobriety, simple shapes, smooth textures and solid volumes.

Resumen
If we take a look at Philippe Starck's work, it is clear that he is an artist of his time, a post-modern artist from the very beginning. But like any author who stands out from the average, he was not content to follow in the wake of the artistic movement of the time, but was one of those who defined it. In his pieces we find the revision of artistic forms that had already been abandoned and the mixture between them in an apparent 'totum revolutum' in which anything goes and which is his most genuine hallmark. Appropriationism, irony, the de-dramatisation of the object and its function are present throughout his work. If we also consider that his creative work has been carried out in the field of design, we could reach the conclusion that Starck has succeeded in bridging the ideological - not aesthetic - gap between art and design.

Resumen
The education model that is implanted in the European Higher Education Area (EEES) implies promoting conditions and situations in which learning experiences are designed around the professional needs, developing the whole student learning, raising the quality of education provided, and incorporating continuing education as a means of learning to help students achieve their employment and life purposes. Assuming this responsibility means that the University should promote teaching practices that meet the current needs of training adequacy student to work. This study want to do a information compilation directly from groups that are part of the reality of the design work to create a map of real training needs that they detect, and draw a training plan to remedy these gaps.

Resumen
The recent edition of Nude 2011, in parallel to the Habitat Fair in Valencia, is once again the occasion for the presentation and international promotion of the young designers, on their own initiative or supported by the different educational centres that take part in this consolidated event. Proof of this is the stand of the Higher Polytechnic School of Malaga, sponsored by the College of Technical Engineers of this city, which was presented for the first time with a selection of projects by J. Abel Romero and J. del Hombre Bueno, as well as supporting the Leblume Design stand, by Damián López, also a graduate of this centre.

Resumen
Fifty is the fiftieth anniversary of the Milan International Furniture Fair in this edition of what is already perhaps the most important event in the world in the field of Furniture and Decoration. This event has been adding in its trajectory different facets and activities in all the fields of design, together with more recent proposals such as decorative complements, office or bathroom furniture, with their corresponding shows or fairs, lighting, etc. However, the greater diversity of aspects of design and its integration with contemporary culture have been complemented by the events held throughout the city, which have turned it into a truly international design week.
