This article analyzes and compares the budget execution of 98 public investment projects of three universities in the city of Lima in 2016; with a quantitative, non-experimental comparative descriptive cross-sectional approach, based on digital documentary analysis of public access. These public investment projects (PIP) were evaluated in 5 dimensions: type of administration, cost of the project, type of evaluator, cost modifications and years since its viability. The results showed that in terms of the level of budget execution, only 41.8% of the projects achieved a very good rating and 8.2% a good rating. Likewise, 80% of the projects were executed by direct administration and most of the projects had a cost between 1.2 and 10 million soles.
