Wide-shallow beams (WSBs) are structural elements characterized by having a width larger than its depth. They have special application on structures where beams must have the same thickness than the floor due to architectural requirements. Maximum spacing of shear reinforcement legs shall be provided to meet minimum shear reinforcement, restrain the growth of inclined cracking and improve ductility of the beam. As it depends on the effective height, WSBs usually require closer stirrup spacing, leading to high transverse reinforcement ratio. Steel fibers can be used in reinforced concrete beams to increase shear strength and even replace stirrups. However, most studies about the subject does not apply or is only partially related to WSBs. In this study, ten simply-supported WSBs were tested under a four-point loading system to investigate their shear behavior. Beams, with a total depth of 100 mm, width of 150 mm and 650 mm span, were cast with different amounts of steel fibers (0, 25, 35 and 45 kg/m³). Moreover, beam with minimum amount of transverse shear reinforcement were also produced. The main effects of the fibers, even in small amounts, were providing a flexural residual strength to the concrete and increasing the shear strength of the WSBs, delaying the diagonal shear crack development. The behavior of 45 kg/m³ steel fibers WSBs was significantly modified in relation to the beam without shear reinforcement. Most of the analytical models studied showed a good estimate (about 11% higher than the experimental value) of the shear strength of the WSBs analyzed.

Abstract
When human physiological needs are affected, some therapies to be achieved may require specific resources, such as the use of biomaterials. Thus, to support life, various devices have been developed over the years, such as probes/catheters for the digestive, respiratory, urinary, and vascular systems, among others. These medical devices differ from the constitution of the materials to the designs. In this universe, we chose to discuss venous catheters in terms of dimensions, durability, insertion, infection/biofilm, material, innovations, technological advances and adverse events. The study was carried out through a systematic literature review on pubmed, academic google and complementary materials were listed because they could make it possible to raise these criteria and contribute with fundamental information to the understanding of the interaction of the catheter with the blood. The relevance of the present study is due to the interdisciplinary overview focused on the venous catheter. It was noticed that the technological development of these medical devices took place over the years, however, conflicting traits about the catheter are still found in the literature, it is mentioned: the obstruction by blood clot related to the use of anticoagulant x saline solution as forms of solve the problem; different recommendations on the durability of the catheter linked to the material type. Therefore, it was concluded that the circumstances of the venous catheter are complex, as are the substrate/blood interface relationships and adverse events. It is noted that the events associated with the catheter have an interdisciplinary character, involving knowledge of biotechnology, pharmacology, nursing, engineering, etc.

Resumen
Research on the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) has gained a lot of space lately. BIM technology brings numerous benefits to engineering projects through the integration of multidisciplinary data and the creation of detailed digital representations. For this reason, this work aimed to analyze the integration of BIM with Abaqus, Ansys, Robot and SAP2000 software, widely used for structural projects and numerical simulations. Therefore, a systematic literature review was performed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, seeking articles that associated the term BIM with each software analyzed. A total of 30 articles were initially found and, after filtering them, 17 relevant articles remained, which were then analyzed and discussed one by one. After analyzing the articles, several benefits were found, however, gaps and limitations were also identified, showing the need for studies on the interoperability between BIM and structural software’s.

ABSTRACT
Hypertension is a chronic, slowly evolving, silent disease. The pathology generates a dysfunction in arterial endothelial tissue, causing significant physiological and morphological changes in the vascular system. Hypertension is considered one of the main risk factors for the development of atherosclerotic diseases such as acute myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and peripheral arterial disease, pathologies with high mortality rates and sequelae. The aim of this work was to identify the influence of hypertension on the development of these three atherosclerotic pathologies. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square method. The study included 137,211 patients with atherosclerotic disease, with a history of hypertension or not. Statistical analysis indicated that 65.8% of patients with ischemic stroke, 60.1% with acute myocardial infarction, and 57.7% with peripheral arterial disease had a history of hypertension. The work evidenced arterial hypertension as an important predictor risk factor for the development of atherosclerotic diseases, present in more than half of the analyzed patients. The results suggest that patients with arterial hypertension would have a higher propensity for the development of ischemic stroke.

The skin is a revealer of healthy aging, in which several resources seek to slow down its senescence and prevent the damage caused by extrinsic factors. Curcumin, the active compound of Curcuma longa L., has been studied as a possible anti-aging adjuvant, due to its functional properties, mainly antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. However, its chemical instability and bioavailability make its use difficult. In this context, research has been carried out with the purpose of encapsulating turmeric in nanostructures. The objective of this review is to link the potential of curcumin in the skin aging process to approaches that use nanotechnology, through lipid nanostructures, in order to improve its applicability in topical use. To obtain the data, a qualitative research was carried out through a systematic search using the Google Scholar, Web of Science and Pubmed databases with different combinations of keywords. Despite numerous studies correlating curcumin and nanotechnology, in this work it was possible to observe the scarcity of results that bring the participation of this substance in the aging process, requiring further exploration through research, in view of the great commercial interest of curcumin for rational drug development.

Resumen
Abstract: Macintosh laryngoscopes are widely used for training medical students and paramedics in endotracheal intubation; however, there are more studies in the literature that support videolaryngoscopes in endotracheal intubation training. However, these commercial instruments are too expensive. Objective: To develop and validate a low-cost video laryngoscope with emphasis on its use for teaching the OTI technique to medical students. Methods: This is a methodological study of an applied nature, with a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive approach, with regard to the production of an educational resource. The methodology consisted of carrying out four steps: bibliographic survey, review of the theoretical framework for the project; prototype production; and survey and analysis of data obtained through interviews and product evaluation. Results: The result fits within expectations for the project and corroborates the literary review carried out, thus the use of the educational product is effective and easy to reproduce. The professionals' evaluation, through the Validation of the Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skill scale, attested to the efficiency of the instrument and the applicability of its use in the educational field. The prototype met the specification of low cost compared to commercial models. That said, the project can move on to testing with academics and residents to collect more data and thereby develop a more complete product. Conclusion: The result met the specifications determined in the methodology, ensuring low manufacturing cost and applicability as an educational product

Resumen
Self-medication is defined as the administration of medication without medical advice or prescription, with the patient himself who decides which drug will be used. The consumption of non-prescription medications, despite the risks, has become a very common practice in the Brazilian population in times of pandemic. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of the main causes of self-medication in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on some cities in the state of Paraiba. Data collection took place through a questionnaire accessed via Google Forms, with sociodemographic and medicated questions. 95.7% of the participants reported practicing self-medication and 61.6% self-medicating due to the pandemic. The most prevalent therapeutic class was analgesics, followed by antiparasitic drugs. The main drugs used are dipyrone, paracetamol and ivermectin. The main associated symptoms are headache and influenza/cold/cough. Among the main factors associated with self-medication, practicality and comorbidity and the ease of buying at the pharmacy are noteworthy. In this way, the performance of the pharmacist can prevent self-medication, thus playing an important role in patient care.
