This article presents the Congregation of Franciscan Servants Repairers of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament (SFRJS). Attention is drawn to its charismatic core as a process, from its inspiration to the way it was narrated, lived, interpreted and poured into congregational practice. Its genesis dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, in Pereira, a village in the diocese of Bragança-Miranda, municipality of Mirandela. The main characteristic of it's spirituality is the Eucharistic reparation that enlightens the social and apostolic works to which it dedicates itself. The contribution of the five founders of the Congregation, before and after its canonical erection in 1950, is analyzed, and the evolution of their works in the areas of “service, spirituality and mysticism” is followed. Today it is an Institute of Pontifical Right that develops its activity in Portugal, Angola, Mozambique and Brazil.

This study is dedicated to the institutional transformations that took place in the Catholic Church from the 1960s and their impact on female religious life in Brazil. To this end, our attention will be directed to the debates surrounding professionalization, dimensioned by the Second Vatican Council. These debates will be analyzed in a double dimension: the first, institutional, through documentation generated by the Council or by the Conference of Religious of Brazil. The second, with a social nature, considering the way in which they were inserted into the public debate, through publication in newspapers and magazines with wide circulation. From the sources studied, social concerns became part of the repertoire of action of religious women, motivating their choices and attitudes together with their faith.

The history of Bom Sucesso is linked to the history of the city of Lisbon, and the history of Portugal more broadly. It is important to note that the Convent remained in the same location during the extinction of the religious orders in Portugal, arguably because it was Irish and the nuns promised to open a school on the site. The foreign nature of the congregation became firmly established during the Portuguese First Republic, (1910-1926), when it was decided that Portuguese postulants, and later nuns, would not be admitted to the convent. During its early years, from 1630 to the end of the 17th century, the convent and religious community around it established their defining characteristics. These have been gradually consolidated during the time that the Convent has existed. The “sisters”, as they have always been known, lived in the convent from 1639 up until 2016, except for an absence of a month in 1823. In 2016, they returned to their home county of Ireland having remained leaders of the Foundation known as Fundação Obra Social das Religiosas Dominicanas Irlandesas (Irish Dominican Foundation for Social and Religious Work). This article will focus on the spiritual and architectural aspects of the Convent that have been in place since its foundation and throughout its existence.

This article examines the evolution of the Amparo Directo (AD) in Mexico during the 21st century (2001-2023). I hold that AD has faced not just one, but two problems in recent years: the classic problem, which refers to its widespread use as a means of control of legality and the contemporary problem, which refers to the shortcomings of the Collegiate Courts’ objective role in terms of control of constitutionality and the production of binding precedents. My argument is developed at two levels: a) I analyze the institutional design through an analysis of the constitutional reform process, and b) I explore the performance of federal Collegiate Courts through a study of their work in line with their power to solve cases and establish judicial interpretive criteria.

Multilateral development banks (MDBs) are international institutions that provide financial assistance for the development of their member states. Decision-making of MDBs is undertaken by the representatives of shareholders by voting. This article uses the absolute Banzhaf power index to measure the voting power of the shareholders of subregional MDBs, which have a voting system with a layered structure of different stock classifications. Differences in the voting power of shareholders holding different classifications of stocks are analyzed. The article also aims to explore the influence of the special voting system in the protection of the voting power in developing countries in the subregional MDBs of Latin America and the Caribbean. This protection benefits the democracy and independence of countries in the region.

Abstract Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Metabolic syndrome is an important cluster of risk factors that increases the likelihood of acute cardiovascular events. Objective: To describe the clinical and hemodynamic characteristics of patients with unstable angina with electrocardiographic changes associated with metabolic syndrome. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 1,912 patients admitted with unstable angina in the Cardiology service of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Hospital, Bayamo, Cuba, between January 2020 and May 2022. Clinical, electrocardiographic, echocardiographic, and biochemical data were collected. Descriptive statistical techniques and SPSS 25.0 software were used for data analysis. Results: The prevalence of MS was 30.2 %. Males predominated (58.5 %) with a mean age of 62.1 ± 8.6 years. In females, the prevalence of age ≥ 65 years, dyslipidemia, obesity, diabetes mellitus, and left ventricular dysfunction was higher, whereas smoking, left ventricular hypertrophy, and hypertensive cardiopathy were more frequent in males. The most common electrocardiographic abnormalities were mixed ST-T changes, T wave inversion, and ST segment depression. The most frequent complications were recurrent and refractory chest pain and heart failure. Conclusions: These results demonstrate a significant association between metabolic syndrome and a more complex clinical presentation with severe cardiovascular complications. Implementation of comprehensive prevention strategies and development of predictive tools are recommended to improve clinical management and prognosis in these patients.
