The current university, faced with the exponential growth of knowledge and its wide dissemination through the internet, requires the development of critical reading as part of professional training, especially scientific texts. The scientific texts that are used in the teaching-learning processes present different scientific, ideological, economic, political orientations, among others, which require a reader to compare, evaluate and extract their own perspectives. However, students entering university are not prepared to face the reading of scientific texts, and the communication subjects they receive do not address this gap or cannot resolve it at all. Based on this situation, this research proposes methodological recommendations through the constructivist approach in order to offer treatment to the reading of scientific texts. The proposal involves an entire university institution and conceives the work with reading in a transversal and interdisciplinary way, so that communication and language teachers are permanently linked with the different careers and, at the same time, the communication subjects are adapted to the particularities of these careers.

Language is an important component in the crystallization of the cultural and national identity of students in Israel, as is evident in the efforts made to introduce Hebrew in schools. In this context, the objective of this article is to review the skills related to how the brain learns to read and write, and reviews the basic methodological approaches for teaching reading and writing; and in a second part, it reviews two commercially available methods for teaching Hebrew literacy in order to define and establish, as a conclusion, their characteristics and the key points of an adequate methodology for teaching modern Hebrew.

Contentious marital separations affect children and may require legal intervention. The aim of this article was to assess the relevance of psychotherapeutic intervention in families under supervised visitation by the technical team of the judicial units of family, women, children and adolescents of Ambato, Ecuador, from July 2020 to July 2021. A research with a mixed, non-experimental and descriptive approach was implemented with a population of 10 files of families under visitation supervised by the judicial entity. Sources from the following scientific databases were used: SciELO, Dialnet, Wiley Online Library, Latindex and MIAR for the theoretical basis. In addition, the nominal group technique was applied with 11 expert psychologists. As part of the results, it was determined that 90% of the families resided in urban areas and 80% had only one child. The average age of the children was 6.92 years. Fifty-five percent of the parents had a higher level of schooling, 90% of the visitation regimes were two hours a week, and the same figure was for custody assigned to the mother. Eighty percent of pensions were less than US$261. Fifty percent of court rulings indicated psychotherapeutic interventions. The conclusions identified multiple causes and consequences of the family crisis that required judicial intervention. The participating specialists considered that psychological interventions were necessary to safeguard the mental health of the children, involving care units of the Ministry of Public Health and with regulations focused on legal grounds.

Burnout syndrome involves a sustained response to chronic stressors at work, which usually manifests as exhaustion, cynicism and a perception of low professional efficacy. As part of the objectives of this research, the incidence of this syndrome and its relationship with overweight, sedentary lifestyle and high blood pressure were determined. The methodology used was a quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational approach. The study population consisted of 25 subjects belonging to a missionary agency in Quito.  A sociodemographic survey, blood pressure registry, Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) short version and the Maslach Burnout Inventory General Survey (MBI-GS), Spanish version, were applied. As part of the results, 12% of the subjects presented presumptive results of Burnout syndrome (high level in burnout, high level in cynicism and low level in professional efficacy). The association between elevated blood pressure and Burnout syndrome was statistically significant (p=0.024). The associations between Burnout syndrome and sedentary lifestyle (p=0.166) and overweight (p=0.132) were not statistically significant. The association between sex was statistically significant (p=0.024), with predominance in the male sex. A high level of burnout was evidenced in 24%, a high level of cynicism in 20% and a low level of professional efficacy in 20% of the subjects evaluated.

During the 1980s there were three points of view about the Historic center of Quito (CHQ): as a place marked by monumentalism; the city and its center as social diversity; and as a livable, dynamic, patrimonial and social place. The first two expressed the vision of the Municipality of Quito, while the latter corresponded to the neighborhood residents. Thus, the objective of this research seeks to reflect on the third aspect that comes from the periphery of the center. The methodology was based on interviews with neighborhood residents and urban planners, press articles and secondary sources, from which the San Marcos and La Loma Grande neighborhoods were analyzed as case studies. As a result of the interviews, the peripheral component constituted a reflective support that brought to light the neighborhood heritage and other social dynamics that shaped the neighborhoods and enriched their center. Regarding the conclusions, we visualized the neighborhoods with social and communal links and they carried social and patrimonial memory in the years investigated, important aspects to consider for a better public policy on tourism, heritage and culture in Quito today.

A resource used for teaching mathematics has been augmented reality (AR), whose purpose is focused on the creation of virtual content in a real space; however, it is important to know the perceptions of learners about its use; thus, this research was generated, whose objective was to analyze the effect of the application of augmented reality as an instrument for the development of variational geometric thinking in high school students. It was conducted under a qualitative approach; three pilot activities for the use of AR were applied in 10th grade students in Colombia; participant observation was implemented and later a semi-structured interview was applied. Among the results, it was obtained that AR helps to create a greater link with geometry, allows the manipulation of geometric elements instantaneously and helps to correct errors immediately, opening space for the production of ideas not contemplated in the activities. It was concluded that AR allows generating practical and dynamic classes, awakens the motivation, interest and creativity of the students by carrying out activities that have led to intertwine theoretical and practical content.

Today, organizations and, similarly, higher education institutions face several challenges, among which is the need to have a dynamic, flexible and, above all, innovative management model. Consequently, it is of vital importance to improve and automate processes under a methodology that generates more successful cases. Therefore, this document aims to present a methodological proposal from the approach of business process management (BPM), which adapts to any digital transformation that involves the automation of processes of organizations of different types, sizes and economic sectors. In order to test the methodology, a process of a higher education institution in Ecuador was subjected to automation. The results showed that an efficient, effective, dynamic, flexible and above all innovative management was achieved by using a BPMS; this was due to the fact that over-processing, reprocessing, duplicated efforts, waiting time and waste were reduced and in some cases eliminated.

Higher education in today's post-pandemic times is subject to many change processes which include educational innovation and the development of thinking. The present essay aims at proposing art as an educational innovation to implicitly develop thinking while seeking to adapt poetry, drawing, theater and music at the same time in the teaching-learning process. It starts with a literature review of similar works in which the four elements presented here were not found as a whole but separately to then make a theoretical argument about art, educational innovation and development of thinking, and then present teaching strategies that describes aspects for teachers and students. This proposal has three phases with their respective stages and at the end a feedback event of the whole process. It is concluded that this is a proposal for educational innovation aimed at seeking the integration of the four types of artistic expression in the same strategy, and it is also an effort to relate it to the development of thinking in Higher Education in favor of quality education for the 21st century.

In the last years, the actors involved in the teaching-learning processes, have seen how they have been introduced into them, tools that have complemented those already existing. These, categorized as augmented reality, its favor the transmission and acquisition of knowledge, while improving and enhancing the competences that students must acquire in his formative stage of high school. The implementation of these tools collides head-on with his parents and teachers who are reluctant at all times that these tools can or should be executed and managed from devices like a Smartphone. And the fact is that these devices are perceived as distracting and non-collaborative elements, educationally speaking. To this must be added the existence of a technological gap, deepened after the last socio-economic crisis and exacerbated by the pandemic that began in 2019 and in La Palma-Canary Islands (Spain), by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, with consequences in educational matters. In this article, we will analyze the consequences of introducing, in the classroom, punctually, Smartphone, and AR software, and what this technology implied in terms of improving the teaching-learning processes and how it also affects the actors involved in these actions.
