A complex reading adventure is the one awaiting the reader of Omeros, a book-length poem published by Derek Walcott in 1990 and, with a title reminiscent of the Greek poet par excellence, an ideal text to talk about re-writings and re-readings of the Western literary tradition.  As readers, we enter Omeros expecting a re-writing of the Odyssey. We find, instead, a text that recalls, in its structure, themes and prosody, Dante’s Commedia, in particular, the Purgatorio.In our reading of Walcott alongside with Dante, we will concentrate on the character of Philoctete with whom Omeros begins and on the theme of healing that he embodies. While Philoctetes is a minor character in Homer’s Odyssey, Walcott’s appropriation of the Greek character in Omeros is enhanced by his reading of Dante. The theme of healing is pervasive in Walcott’s Omeros, but it is even more emblematic in Dante’s vision of repentance and salvation in the second cantica of his Commedia: the Purgatorio. Interestingly, in Walcott’s “postcolonial Purgatory,” Philoctete remains a minor character and is not turned into a postcolonial hero.Our analysis will focus on the theme of healing, on the vision of history that is unlocked through a comparison between the authors’ worlds, and on Dante’s and Walcott’s creative use of terza rima, the aspect of the poems that – before anything else – brings them together.

Zombie companies have a negative connotation, since they affect the markets where they operate. In order to have a better understanding, an internal approach is used to study their business behavior. This paper aims to analyze the incidence of the type of business strategy in the probability of incurring being a zombie company. To do this, we used a Logit function analysis to evaluate the probability of incurring in the zombie profile. We used a panel data composed by 99 listed companies in the Mexican Stock Exchange during the 2013 at 2017 period. The empirical result shows that the defensive strategy reduces the probability of incurring in the zombie situation; on the other hand, the analytical strategy and proactive strategy show a greater probability of being classified as zombie companies, which, a priori could surprise, however, the Latin American institutional context favors that such behavior is prone to lead to the zombie situation.

This study focuses on the emotional climate of family firms. In particular, we highlight the expression of emotions by emphasizing the phenomenon of emotional dissonance within these firms. Emotional dissonance, a person-role conflict, originates from the discrepancy between expressed and experienced emotions. Additionally, we look into the role of the (non)family status of the CEO and the generational phase of the firm in the occurrence of the emotional climate. Research on emotions within firms has steadily increased over the years, although almost always neglecting family firms. This is a remarkable observation given the preeminence of family firms in the worldwide economy and the overlap between business and family these firms are confronted with. Through an in-depth qualitative study, we unravel both the impact of family firms’ emotional climate and the facets that contribute to this climate.

Na elaboração de projetos na Construção Civil, engenheiros e arquitetos defrontam-se com várias alternativas de sistemas de lajes, as quais podem representar sensíveis resultados no custo e na qualidade da edificação. É notável a indecisão dos profissionais do setor construtivo devido à escassez de parâmetros que possam ser seguidos, de modo que a escolha recaia na que melhor atenderá as exigências da edificação. Diante disto, o presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar o desempenho, em termos de viabilidade econômica e de deslocamentos, de quatro sistemas diferentes de lajes de concreto armado, sendo eles: o de lajes com treliças, com vigotas protendidas, com nervuras bidirecionais e do tipo maciça, por meio do dimensionamento estrutural em função de um projeto modelo de uma edificação destinada para salas de aulas. Para o dimensionamento foi utilizado o software AltoQi Eberick®, em sua versão acadêmica e, a partir dos resultados, as lajes foram orçadas com base nas planilhas SINAPI, utilizadas nacionalmente para a avaliação de financiamentos pela Caixa Econômica Federal, sendo feito o comparativo apontando o sistema estrutural mais viável economicamente para o projeto modelo. Os resultados apontam que as lajes pré-moldadas se mostraram de maior viabilidade econômica, principalmente o sistema em laje treliçada. No entanto, todos os sistemas demonstraram particularidades singulares que são informações importantes para os projetistas em concreto armado.

Introdução: O uso dos anticoncepcionais hormonais deve ser determinado por uma avaliação detalhada do histórico clínico e familiar da mulher que pretende utilizá-los, assim como a mensuração de sua pressão arterial. No Brasil, para fazer o uso de anticoncepcionais hormonais, a mulher é orientada a fazer uma consulta com profissionais de saúde nos serviços públicos ou privados. Objetivo: Descrever os riscos provenientes do uso prolongado dos contraceptivos orais hormonais à saúde da mulher. Material e Método: Revisão integrativa da literatura publicada na BVS, PUBMED, SciELO, LILACS e MEDLINE entre 2009 e 2020, baseada em evidências, em português e inglês, disponível na íntegra. Resultado: O câncer de mama, a trombose venosa e a hipertensão arterial estão entre os principais riscos provenientes do uso prolongado dos contraceptivos orais hormonais, cuja utilização na maioria das vezes ocorre sem avaliação de um profissional da saúde. Conclusão: O devido conhecimento sobre a ação dos anticoncepcionais orais hormonais, incluindo modo de ação e a curto, médio e longo prazo é necessário antes da utilização por mulheres que buscam nele, a anticoncepção. Sem o devido acompanhamento de um profissional de saúde o uso pode tornar-se indiscriminado, comprometendo a saúde da usuária. O aconselhamento que antecede a decisão da mulher pelo melhor método deve considerar a sua história clínica, as contraindicações e as informações de outros métodos alternativos compatíveis com a sua condição de saúde.

Among the numerous pathologies that stimulate the functional decline of the elderly, leprosy is worth highlighting. An infectious, chronic and dermatoneurological disease, which compromises the peripheral nerves, and can worsen the functional difficulties assuming a disabling character, in addition to causing physical deformities when not properly treated. In this descriptive study with a quantitative approach, the objective was to analyze the data collected, in order to assess the epidemiological characteristics, clinical diagnosis and classification, through the occurrence of Hansen's disease in the elderly population in relation to other age groups in the state of Alagoas between the years of 2007 to 2020, based on data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN). There was a prevalence of males making up 50.2% of the total population. The largest age group was 29-39, but there was a significant amount of the elderly population affected. As for the operational classification, there was a higher prevalence of the multibacillary form, comprising 798 cases. Regarding the degree of disability, males are more prevalent in cases of disability and physical impairment than females, with grade I affecting most male and female patients. Thus, it is concluded that care and treatment should be assertive and initiated as soon as possible, with a view to reducing, and the disabilities present in degrees of injuries, in the elderly population affected by the disease.

O objetivo deste estudo foi compreender a relação entre a Vigilância Sanitária e a Atenção Primária, especificamente na Estratégia de Saúde da Família, em um município do interior de São Paulo. Buscou-se a percepção, dos Agentes Comunitários de Saúde (ACS), suas ações, as potencialidades e fragilidades relacionadas a essa interação. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza qualitativa, desenvolvida a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas com Agentes Comunitários de Saúde. Os dados foram tratados com base no conteúdo temático das entrevistas e organizados em categorias: o trabalho do ACS e a integralidade da atenção à saude; a concepção de Vigilância Sanitária; dificuldades e facilidades para o desenvolvimento de ações articuladas. Os resultados demonstraram que as percepções dos ACS, quanto às práticas e ações de Vigilância Sanitária no contexto das suas ações na Estratégia de Saúde da Família, remetem quase que exclusivamente para as questões regulatórias e de fiscalização, em detrimento das ações de promoção e proteção da saúde. Porém, identificou-se que algumas ações de Vigilância Sanitária são realizadas no âmbito da Atenção Primária, porém não são percebidas pelos agentes como tal. Portanto, é fundamental que essa discussão seja oportunizada no âmbito do Sistema Único de Saúde, buscando estratégias para uma maior integração entre a Vigilância Sanitária e a Atenção Básica.

This research determined the phytochemical profile and evaluated the photoprotective, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities in extracts of Clidemia capitellata leaves, obtained with hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol. The phytochemical profile was determined through thin layer chromatography; tannins, flavonoids and total phenolics were measured; the antimicrobial activity was determined by Minimum Inhibitory Concentration and Minimum Microbicide Concentration in bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Micrococcus luteus, Bacillus subtilis and Enterococcus faecalis; Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescens and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Mycobacterium smegmatis, and the yeast Candida albicans. Antioxidant activity was evaluated through the methods of Reducing Power, DPPH sequestration and phosphomolybdenum. The C. capitellata leaves show flavonoids, tannins, triterpenes, steroids, anthraquinones and essential oils; tannins, flavonoids and total phenolics were extracted in greater amounts with methanol, however, the acetate extract stood out in relation to antimicrobial activity, and none of the extracts showed photoprotective activity within the values established by Brazilian legislation.   Word keys: secondary metabolites. antioxidant. antimicrobial.

This study aimed to evaluate the perception of the multiprofessional health team in a university hospital in relation to the reconciliation of medications. This research was observational, descriptive and qualitative, being carried out at the University Hospital Mário Araújo, linked to the University Center of the Campanha Region-URCAMP (Bagé-RS). The hospital's health professionals were coded with the first letter of the profession followed by numerical order, as an example: doctors (M1, M2) and so on. Guiding questions were launched through semi-structured interviews, with recording and recording of the interviewees' speech, for later analysis of Bardin's content. It was possible to study the variables referring to the knowledge of the multidisciplinary team on medication reconciliation; evaluation of the practice of medication reconciliations in the hospital context; moment when the practice of reconciling medicines becomes more important; perception of the multidisciplinary team in relation to pharmaceutical services and assessment of the pharmacist's perception of the process of implementing the drug reconciliation service. Of the 21 professionals interviewed, it was possible to include 15 interviews in the study, in which, after analyzing the responses, the following categories emerged: “understanding about medication reconciliation”, “the practice of reconciling medications” and “multidisciplinary team vision”. It was observed that the implementation of drug reconciliations in the hospital under study advanced in front of other realities and is a practice that requires constant training of the team for patient safety. It was noticed that the pharmacist has been recognized by the health team and gaining space for the exercise of his clinical functions. The knowledge about the diversity and fauna distribution in tropical freshwater ecosystems is of extreme ecological importance, however studies on this theme still scarce. Organisms belonging to the Oligochaeta Class are considered important bioindicators for environmental quality analysis, but detailed knowledge about these organisms is still insufficient. This study aims to investigate the occurrence of oligochaeta species in eight rivers of the State of São Paulo (Brazil), to expand the species catalogue and identify the its relationship with the trophic state of sampled environments. The samples were collected by the Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo (CETESB) from 2014 to 2016 and include areas with different land uses, ranging from conservation, agricultural and industrial. We used species richness estimator (Bootstrap) and accumulation curves of randomized species (collector curve), in order to evaluate the efficiency of samples collected. Rivers were classified according to the trophic state, ranging from oligotrophic to hypereutrophic. As a result, we identified a total of 7,398 oligochaetes distributed in 25 taxa, which belong to the families: Alluroididae, Naididae and Opistocystidae. The most frequent species registered in this research, present in seven of the eight sampled rivers was Bothrioneurum sp., followed by Pristina synclites registered in six of the eight sampled rivers.
