Resumen
Costa Rica is one of the countryies most prone to emergency situations due to natural events. The location and geographic conditions are determinant so that their degree of vulnerability is considerably high. In the last thirty years, there have been a series of emergencies that have claimed lives, as well as a high economic impact, such as the Cinchona Earthquake (2009), Hurricane Otto (2016) and Tropical Storm Nate (2017), experiences that marked the country considerably. Taking into account this event, the Universidad Técnica Nacional, through the University Community Work, has generated participation processes that try to promote the culture of prevention. Therefore, this article is a systematization of the experience in which we worked with the community of San Vicente to strengthen the culture of prevention, based on stories and actions carried out, allowing reflection from the university extension.

Resumen
This single case analysis shows the results of a research from a qualitative approach. The project aimed to establish prevention strategies from the identification of the most recurrent factors associated with the students’ dropout during the first year in the career of English as a Foreign Language (ILE) at Universidad Técnica Nacional (UTN), San Carlos campus, during the year 2017. Some instruments were designed and applied to a sample of six students who dropped university in 2017, and five professors from the ILE career, San Carlos, campus. The main results show that the labor and economical aspect influences the students’ dropout. The lack of motivation is a relevant aspect when students take this decision. The study recommends conducting workshops in order to develop strategies that helpwith the dropout in the educational system.

Resumen
GENTICO ZOOM, is a study that deepens further into the Digital and Virtual generations, to introduce and expose the reasons for the behavior, similarities and differences of young Costa Ricans between the ages of 12 and 35, who represent more than 40% of the population of the country. Through an attitudinal profile, these young people can be identified and classified as aspiring, disciplined and risky. This research made by Kölbi and UNIMER, using different qualitative and quantitative research techniques will allow brands to generate their own marketing strategies by understanding and comprehending these young people in their essence because they are willing to listen. Who are they? What do they do?What do they think? Where are they? What are their concerns? What do they consume? Because they are different, changeable and inconstant, they challenge what is conceived and what they have learned outside the country. They are different from the millennial and centennial portrait of other countries.

Resumen
This article presents the results of a research whose purpose was to study the relationship between education, as human capital, and the socioeconomic development of the country at the regional and national levels. For such purposes, a mathematical model was elaborated that related several development indicators with socioeconomic variables using a sample of cross-sectional data for the 81 cantons of the country. The model was estimated with the Ordinary Least Squares technique. The results obtained showed that investment in education has contributed positively and significantly to national and regional socioeconomic development, with primary education being the most important level, followed by higher education. In addition, the simulations carried out with the model allowed to establish priorities for investment in education and thus contribute to reduce the inequalities of development between regions.

Resumen
The paper details the theoretical and applicative structure of the smart contracts considering the correspondent performance, application, and epistemological bases, it also presents the element of the suspensive clause implicit in the confection of these contracts which determines the effectiveness of the instrument. It analyses the link to the auto executable asset practice which is managed by the contract itself, and defined previously by the partie. These concepts are linked to the electronic commerce, accomplishing as well the determination of the relationship between the smart contracts and the electronic commercial purchase. The factors of its application in the electronical business are defined, under a contractual and computational application methodology.

Resumen
This manuscript reports the use of an ancient metrology system to determine the magnitude of the meridian arc above the Egyptian region circa the year 3000 BC. The elements of this system are present in the magnitudes of importantmonuments such as the Great Pyramid of Giza and the temples located in the Archaeological Site of Teotihuacan. Both sites, separated by space-time, were devised from magnitude values that arise from the same measurementsystem of astronomical nature, whose numbers represent the revolutions of the planets that these civilizations widely observed. The present article describes the measurement system used by both cultures, as well as the numerical systems at play.

Resumen
In this case study, an analysis was made about the energy sources used in Costa Rica for the generation of electricity. Such analysis used its electric model that is worldwide recognized by its production with renewable energies in a high percentage. However, this presents a series of challenges and opportunities that incorporate this form of generation, which must be analyzed in order to obtain the greatest benefits for the country and its population.
