This article aims to analyze the documentary My Octopus Teacher (MOT) from the point of view of the viewer’s engagement with the protagonist in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. An integral definition of the concept of engagement is used, including variables related to the plot and the receiver of the story. The content of the documentary is analyzed by applying the theoretical categories of the concept of character engagement. MOT can function as a story of empowerment for the viewer who has suffered the loneliness and lack of sociability produced by the pandemic and its effects.

This work aims to explore the experiences of young people from 18 to 26 years of age from México City, Puebla, and Querétaro in sports in electronic games to identify the socio-emotional skills that are developed from the interaction between the participants. Through exploratory research, and based on phenomenology and ethnography as selected methodologies, an approximation to the defnition of the skills is generated. The results suggest that socioemotional skills in sports arise from the trust players need to develop for the game’s continuity, and the  establishment of obligations assumed by their own will. It is concluded that inside and outside the game, a space is  formed where the psychological development of the  articipants translates into motivation and empathy.

Console and computer video games are monopolized by large entertainment conglomerates. However, with mobile devices the video game market opened to new, little-explored audiences: elders and casual gamers, mobilizing users to new strata and formats, promoting the creativity that in this article is analized from the dependency of the media system.

Can a form of play be used to portray the past in popular culture? Can a person engage in such an act and acquire agency of a particular time in history? Play constitutes many forms—but for  the sake of this paper, it will be used in the context of video games. Using the two main schools of thought for the study of these, narratology and ludology, I intend to highlight the potential for games to not only recreate history but also interact with events and how they can provide new ways of understanding history. I will focus mainly on the Mexican Revolution and the U.S.-Mexico border relations in Rockstar’s epic western: Red Dead Redemption 1.

The purpose of this research is to review the training and educational experiences of the students of the Health Statistics career at the Universidad de Los Andes, Venezuela, through the elaboration of a reading autobiography, in which experiences, practices, as well as positive and negative aspects derived from their learning of reading and writing, required in educational levels prior to university. Due to the conditions of social confinement, the virtual ethnography method was used with discussion groups and synchronous and asynchronous forums. At the end of the course, the autobiographies became a written production organized by each participant, from which fragments were intentionally selected. From the findings derived through the use of the discourse analysis technique, it was concluded that: the use of autobiography allows approaching the difficulties of the students, and their strengths and possible obstacles, on which the teacher must work. The family plays a fundamental role in the learning process, but the primary socialization factor is the one that creates a positive psychological climate for the appropriation of knowledge, the development of competencies and cognitive skills necessary to effectively overcome the demands of university culture. In short, the preparation of autobiographies at the beginning of each course is suggested, with the purpose of exploring weaknesses and aspects that require academic support.

This article focuses on the fact that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is a strategic factor in Costa Rica's trade policy and its economic and social development plan. That is why, the general objective focused on conducting a prospective analysis of FDI with a horizon of 2030, an approach that leads to a public policy design process with a long-term vision. Methodologically, it was based on a qualitative research approach, with an action-research design. For the prospective analysis, several experts participated who offered their support to obtain the pertinent results. The prospective analysis covered three phases: obtaining basic information, design of scenarios and a vision for the future. With the processed information, a "Bet Scenario" was defined, in which Costa Rica is expected to maintain an economic development model based on activities for the production of value-added goods and services, with an increasingly diversified export offer and a favorable business climate, which allows it to compete as an increasingly integrated global commercial actor, both in attractiveness for FDI, as well as its effective insertion in value chains. Based on this scenario, public policy guidelines were proposed to attract foreign direct investment in the country with a view to the year 2030.

In 2020, the highest global temperature and the highest concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in our atmosphere for more than 3 million years are recorded. The World Bank (2021) confirms that climate change is advancing and its relationship with human well-being is evident. However, it affirms that countries can still follow a sustainable, strong and inclusive path with a flexible economy. Given the seriousness of this situation, scientific knowledge should contribute to the achievement of sustainable societies, which implies rethinking science and its methods. Faced with these challenges, it is worth asking: Is there a scientific paradigm that responds to the proposals of sustainability? What requirements should a paradigm meet with this approach? This work aims to propose a theoretical and operational definition applicable to the concept of paradigm from a scientific standpoint, within the framework of sustainability. To that purpose, the state of the art is carried out on the descriptions and the structures or dimensions of the paradigms. The work is of a qualitative nature, with documentary design, supported by the use of bibliographic review techniques. The analyzed sources are selected through an intentional non-probabilistic sampling. It is concluded that the definition and paradigmatic structure proposed allows evaluating scientific statements with respect to the status of paradigms, in addition to offering a framework for validating research results, guaranteeing that the methods applied and the solutions proposed contribute to the sustainability of the environment for current and future generations.
