This article adopts an analytical approach to examine the environmental impacts of illegal activities and unsustainable exploitation of natural resources in Colombia. Through a deep analysis of the relationship between resource exploitation and violence, it demonstrates how armed conflicts and illegal resource extractions have led to habitat destruction and loss of biodiversity. Case studies, such as the devastating effects of armed conflicts on the Amazon rainforest and the use of chemicals, such as glyphosate to combat illegal crops, provide a comprehensive picture of the crisis. The research results reveal that Colombia’s existing laws have the potential to transform the long-standing relationship between human beings and the environment into a more ethical and respectful one. However, to achieve greater effectiveness, the legal framework needs to be strengthened and aligned with contemporary ethical and environmental perspectives. This article also emphasizes that legal reforms may place Colombia as a leader in animal protection and environmental sustainability in Latin America.

The article analyzes the evolution and performance of the BRI from its announcement in 2013 until 2023, highlighting the increase in political and commercial activities in the South American region. It emphasizes the significance of this region for China, mainly due to the accumulation of raw materials and other materials found in the area. To achieve this, the context of the emergence of the BRI is studied, outlining China’s relationship with South America in the present century. The article examines how this region of the world integrates into the BRI using a comparative analysis technique supported by descriptive statistics. Additionally, it outlines the challenges the initiative will face shortly, inferring that the BRI is one of the most significant strategies China is implementing to establish itself as the main trading partner for the economies of South America. This article examines the progress of Chinese foreign direct investment in the agricultural sector of Latin America and the Caribbean, analyzing data on capital movements and specific investment cases in key sectors. From the perspective of Dunning’s eclectic paradigm, both trade relations and integration processes, as well as the economic and environmental conditions of the countries involved, are explored. The results of the case evaluations and policies indicate that China’s investment strategy is closely tied to its food security policies, which aim to ensure its participation in the global supply chain. In this pursuit, the strategy has focused particularly on sectors such as seeds and soybeans to reduce the risk of supply chain shortages. Additionally, it is noted that this investment represents mostly an opportunity for technological advancement and development, but also acknowledges the threats to Latin America and the Caribbean.

Minjung theology is a development of Korean Christianity. Studies on the Minjung often link it to the well-known Latin American theology of liberation and has even been seen as its Asian version. Despite these associations, the Minjung develops an indigenous theological reading of the historical struggles of the Korean people in which central aspects of their culture and traditional popular religiosity are re-evaluated. Recovering the contextual analytical theology category of Bergmann and Vähäkangas, this article suggests that Minjung theology is an original theological perspective based on native categories that are articulated to the experience of political oppression, suffered in the peninsula since the late nineteenth century. This theology is dynamic and heteromorphic. It has been able to adapt to the changes produced by the economic development and democratization of the country. The research behind this article is based on a qualitative case study with triangulation of methods and sources. The corpus of analysis consists of the theological texts Ahn Byung-Moo, Suh Nam-Dong and Suh Kwang-Sun, the woodcuts of Hong Song-Dam and Jeon Ho-Jang, documentaries by Kim Dong Won, In-depth interviews with Minjung references and observation participant in the actions of the Korean Society of Minjung Theology.
