As a result of its successful economic reforms started in 1978, in a few decades China has become a global superpower, endowed with meaningful economic, technological, political and diplomatic capabilities, which converge in an ambitious strategy of international cooperation for development. These capabilities have been projected in countries such as Zimbabwe, a Southern African country that has received significant amounts of Chinese resources to improve information and communication technologies, establish a digital national electoral registry, and implement a facial recognition monitoring network. Notwithsanding the discourse of South-South cooperation, and beyond its possible positive effects in the economic sphere, this work argues that those projects have contributed to the maintenance of the authoritarian regime in Zimbabwe and have strengthened China’s position and the expansion of its companies in Africa.

This article was based on a 14-week longitudinal study to analyze the role of bilingual (English-Spanish) cognates in learning Spanish as a third language (L3) in China. Using lexical production tasks, it examined learners’ cognate awareness, strategies, and recognition under cross-linguistic influence. The results show that explicit instruction of L2-L3 cognates significantly enhanced cognate awareness, reinforcing metalinguistic skills at morphological and semantic levels. The findings also reveal a motivational dimension, as learners intentionally applied cognate strategies in multilingual lexical production.

This paper examines the political and economic opportunities and challenges in China-Latin America relations within a triangular dynamic involving the U.S. Using a Neorealist theoretical framework, it analyzes how Latin American countries maneuver between Chinese economic engagement and long-standing u.s. influence. The study employs comparative analysis and reviews existing literature to explore factors shaping these relationships. Findings indicate that while China’s economic cooperation offers development opportunities for Latin America, it also raises concerns about debt sustainability and political leverage. The intensifying u.s.-China rivalry further complicates Latin American foreign policies, as countries attempt to balance economic benefits from China against historical ties with the U.S. The paper argues that Latin American nations may need capability to adopt a sophisticated strategy to maximize advantages from both powers while maintaining autonomy. It concludes that managing these complex dynamics will be crucial for the future of China-Latin America relations.

The objective of this document is to evaluate the dynamic disparity in the per capita income levels of the member economies of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) during the period 1950-2022. To address this, we start from the GDP per capita PPP databases of the Maddison Project (2023) to carry out a spatial analysis of dynamic disparity through the estimation of sigma convergence (s), a methodological proposal by Barro & Sala -i-Martin (1991). Analyzing income disparities is crucial to understanding the dynamics of growth in the region. The results show a clear trend in the reduction of the disparity in the levels of GDP per capita PPP of the economies, a process reinforced after the establishment of APEC in 1989, suggesting that the region can be considered as a convergence club.

Japan is facing a severe crisis since the bursting of the real estate and stock market bubble in the 1990s, resulting in a decline in its position in the global economic order. The economic recession was exacerbated by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, which has undermined development efforts globally. The current state of the Japanese economy has been aggravated by two critical fac-tors: the aging population and the low birth rate. Given the importance of Japan in the international arena, this work aims to analyze these two factors closely linked to issues of poverty and hopelessness among young people based on the risk society approach proposed by Ulrich Beck and with a qualitative methodology that allows us to understand how Japanese society faces serious economic and social risks due to the drastic decline in its young population.

Of the patients with Legius syndrome, 2 % completes the diagnostic approaches of neurofibromatosis type since 1 they present brown stain with milk and sign of Crowe, this makes indistinguishable the two diseases. The objective of the study was to evaluate the proposal of modification of the diagnostic approaches of neurofibromatosis type 1. Was carried out in The Tunas, a quasi-experimental study. By means of the varying Delphi of the method of experts, the proposal of modification of the diagnostic approaches of the neurofibromatosis type 1 were designed. The sample corresponded with 119 patients that complete the approaches of the neurofibromatosis type 1. Was carried out molecular genetic study for neurofibromatosis type 1 to those that completed alone with the brown presence of stains with milk and sign of Crowe. When the molecular exam was negative, it was considered the diagnosis of Legius syndrome. Proportion was studied of patient according to the manifestations, positivity index, exact test of Fisher and adjusted correction of Yachts with p≤0.05 and to determine the agreement grade between current approaches and the modified approaches the index Kappa of Cohen it was determined. Most of the patients that alone they presented brown stains with milk associated to the sign of Crowe without other manifestations, they were negative to the molecular genetic study for neurofibromatosis 1, they were diagnosed as Legius syndrome. When evaluating the effectiveness of the proposed modified approaches it was determined that they allow to carry out the diagnosis of neurofibromatosis type 1 with 95 % of dependability, avoiding the error diagnoses with the Legius syndrome.

Introduction: Monkeypox is a zoonosis caused by the monkeypox virus. Since June 2022, the World Health Organization has warned about the increase in cases in non-endemic countries, with a predominance of cutaneous manifestations. Cases that progress to the complicated form of the disease are those presenting associated comorbidities, as occurs in mastocytosis, which is characterized by an altered immune response. Objective: To compile information on the main risks for children diagnosed with mastocytosis in the face of monkeypox infection. Methods: The available literature was reviewed in Scopus, SciElo, PubMed Central, MedlinePlus, ClinicalKey, LILACS, WHO, PAHO, and INFOMED. The descriptors used were medical genetics, genetic dermatologic diseases, mastocytosis, monkeypox, and zoonosis. Analysis and synthesis of information: Based on the etiopathogenesis and clinical manifestations of mastocytosis and monkeypox, the main risks for children diagnosed with mastocytosis in the context of monkeypox infection are described, such as urticarial manifestations, anaphylaxis, and mast cell activation syndrome, which can lead the child to develop severe conditions. Key elements for the management of these patients are discussed. Conclusions: Children diagnosed with mastocytosis are at risk of developing complications from monkeypox infection, which may include anaphylaxis, systemic damage, and death. Recognizing the clinical manifestations allows for better management of these patients and contributes to prevention.

Introduction: Ischemic heart disease ranks first among the top 10 causes of death in Cuba. Objective: To determine the risk factors associated with ischemic heart disease. Methods: An analytical observational study of cases and controls was carried out with a 1:2 ratio, in this way the sample was represented by 167 cases and 334 controls. Results: Females accounted for 62.9 % of the cases, and the 65-year-old age group with 54.4 % showed the highest frequency. The medical office with the highest prevalence rate was that of Pueblo Nuevo I with 5.6 per 100,000 inhabitants. The risk factors with the highest degree of associated and attribution were, in descending order, arterial hypertension with an odd ratio of 5.9. Smoking moodds ratio 4.3. Diabetes mellitus odds ratio 3.8. Conclusions: arterial hypertension, smoking, diabetes mellitus, family history of heart disease, dyslipidemia, alcoholism and sedentary lifestyle were the classic risk factors for cardiovascular disease, associated with ischemic heart disease in the territory under study, which demonstrates that there is solid scientific evidence of its causal association.

One of the greatest traumas that man can suffer are burns, due to their severity and severe pain. Based on the insufficient theoretical and practical knowledge about the application of hypnotic anesthesia within the physiotherapeutic treatments in the burned patient, a quasi-experimental study was carried out with the objective of determining the effect of conventional physical therapy combined with hypnotic anesthesia in treatments on the variables pain, muscle strength, joint mobility and wound healing during the process of treating burn injuries. A control group that received routine conventional physical therapy was designated, and another study or experimental group that received conventional physical therapy combined with hypnotic anesthesia during physiotherapy sessions. The patients were assigned to each group from the universe made up of patients admitted to the Plastic Surgery and Caumatology Service of the Celia Sánchez Manduley Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital and then followed up by outpatient consultation in the period from February 2020 to February 2023. For both groups, the fact that they had AB dermal and B hypodermal burns in the shoulder region was taken into account for the assignment. 5 patients were selected in each group. Hypnosis was an effective complement in the physiotherapeutic treatment of burns, due to its influence on severe pain and the severity of the injury.

Controversies are revealed regarding the best cardiovascular diseases prevention strategies in the elderly, given the low number of patients in this age group included in most prevention clinical trials. With the objective of collecting information on aging and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in the context of primary health care, a narrative review on this topic was carried out. The search was carried out by consulting the Pubmed, Infomed and SciELO databases, without date restriction, in Spanish and English. The contradiction due to the challenge that the population aging process represents for the economy, society and in particular for public health, infers the need for health promotion and prevention of risk factors to improve the health of these patients. and raise their quality of life. Despite the level of development reached by the health system and the political, economic and social scenarios of the country, the quality and preparation of the human capital created, which allow working on objective bases, the search for scientific solutions for the design of a tool in primary health care, aimed at timely identification of older adult patients with greater susceptibility to suffering a cardiovascular event.
