This research consists of two phases. It started with a diagnosis of the technical capacities and knowledge of the population (students, teachers, parents, and administrative personnel) regarding solid waste management and handling. Limitations were identified in the conceptualization for the successful management of solid waste management; a lack of the necessary number of containers for the collection, selection, and recycling/reuse of the material generated by the school was identified. The need for training aimed at improving the school's waste management was recognized and in the second phase, a pilot solid waste management plan was formulated. The plan's components included training for the school's population. At the same time, the number of labeled containers was increased, improving distribution in relation to the student population. Waste sorting was achieved, increasing the amount of waste in their deposits, and reducing the burden on the municipal sanitation train. The methodology used is adjustable and applicable in other educational centers, having its greatest impact when the municipal and regional authorities of the educational and environmental sectors join forces.

The effect of UNA strains of Trichoderma spp. and Paecilomyces lilacinus, a mixture of the two, and a targeted application of Oxamil 24 SL on the stem base were evaluated for nematode control and banana (Musa AAB) production. A commercial plantation infested with nematodes and planted with CENSA ¾ Cultivar was selected. A randomized complete block design with 5 replications was used. From each strain, monthly applications of phytoparasitic fungi were made at 1x1012 for 6 months. Chemical nematicide was applied on the soil surface every three months with Oxamyl 24SL at the base of the pseudo stem. Root samples were taken every month in each replicate for nematode analysis. Nematode populations were reduced in plants treated with UNA Trichoderma spp. and Paecilomyces lilacinus strains. Plants treated with these strains showed higher bunch weight and stem circumference of the mother plant compared to plants without this application. Plants treated with Oxamyl on the soil surface showed a higher percentage of functional roots with respect to the control. Plants evaluated with Oxamyl increased bunch weight, and showed a higher number of hands, calibration, fruit length, and stem circumference with respect to plants without application.

This research has identified the socio-cultural determinants of nutrition in children in  Wawa Bar and Haulover Communities, located in the Northern Caribbean of Nicaragua. It is a quantitative and descriptive research. The data obtained are the result of a survey application to know the socio-cultural determinants of nutrition of 157 children from Haulover and 239 children from Wawa Bar, between the ages of 1-14 years. The results showed that most children have access to more than 6 food groups and that according to the Body Mass Index (BMI), children between the ages of 1-4 years have a good nutritional status. In contrast, children between the ages of 5-14 years presented poor nutrition according to the analysis of height and weight measurements. Based on these findings, an awareness campaign proposal has been developed to contribute to the improvement of the nutritional status of children in both communities

The objective of this study is to analyze regionally the COVID-19 case fatality rates associated with specific chronic diseases: obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes in Mexico, for the period 2020-2021. In this sense, it is conceptually discussed how obesity, which is usually the origin of high blood pressure and diabetes, has become a public problem attributable to changes in dietary patterns, reduced physical activity, sociocultural aspects, the three major transitions (demographic, epidemiological, and nutritional) and the double nutritional burden. The data were obtained from the databases that the Mexican Ministry of Health updates daily on COVID-19 infections and mortality. For the analysis, a regionalization is proposed according to the social and cultural issues of the federative entities and a descriptive-analytical statistics exercise was performed for the proposed regions. Among the most outstanding results is the fact that in deaths due to COVID-19, high blood pressure is the most common associated condition in Mexico, specifically in the central and northern regions.

The study was carried out in ten communities located in the rural area of Siuna, Autonomous Region of the Northern Caribbean Coast, Nicaragua. Its objectives are to characterize the population, community economic and social development with identity from an intercultural gender perspective, to describe the state of art of these from the participation of the people, and to analyze realities, contexts, and scenarios for thepromotion of local community economies for the life of the people. The study was developed under the quantitative approach with a descriptive level, data were collected with a structured survey with closed questions on a Likert scale and sectoral workshops. For data processing, statistical techniques were applied to organize, tabulate, represent and synthesize data related to the study variables. The results show that men are responsible for the leadership of the household. A quarter of the population is young and economically active. In these communities, agriculture is the main livelihood and the average salary is 3,800 córdobas, surviving daily on 157.5 córdobas. It was learned that more than half of the population of school age is active in the different modalities. There are sixteen schools, and the modality with the most students is multi-grade primary school. It is vital to implement trade schools to generate employment and self-employment opportunities.

Burns constitute one of the most serious health problems nowadays, data from the World Health Organization (WHO) reveal that this problem causes approximately 180,000 deaths per year in developing countries; due to the devitalization of tissues in the most severe types of burns, a great number of exudates is produced and consequently proliferation of microorganisms, that is why wet therapy with the use of occlusive dres- sings is recommended. However, although there is a large number of occlusive dressings on the market, these are very expensive, so alternatives have been sought that have equally or more e ective results and at lower costs. After researching the subject, tilapia skin was found as an alternative in the treatment of deep burns due to its high collagen content and its adherence to the skin tissue. e aim of this bibliogra- phic review is to present the method and advantages of using tilapia skin in the treatment and recovery of patients with deep burns. e use of dressings based on tilapia skin is projected as an ingenious and innovative technique in terms of biomaterials and this accelerates the healing process of burns, allows a considerable reduction of pain, as well as a more aesthetic result in the skin of patients

This essay on the Popol Vuh has focused on a transversal reflection between 1993-2004 of a hermeneutic type, from the pre-Hispanic documentation and our modernity; likewise, it is nourished by the experience of coexistence with the indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica, from the perspective of the construction processes of national democratic modernity and the challenges of the Mayan identity roots, cosmopraxis and spirituality; Likewise, the theoretical approaches of Heidegger, Ricoeur and Habermas in the interpretative interweaving of ontology, semiotics and society; the level of depth is of critical synthesis in terms of structure between text, society and communication. The Popol Vuh is anonymous, as is the case of The Bible, The Koran, The Tao Te Ching, The Vedas, and The Zend Avesta, for example. The compilers were merely the transmitters of the divine will and of a spiritual heritage. It traces the understanding of its genesis, mythology, legend and decoding of its Water Suns whose base is the geological stratigraphy, the recent scientific advances and archaeological findings and that, define an older course of the traditional typification; in turn the symbolism of the sexual transmutation is represented, manifested in the cryptology or cipher in code of its glyphs, it confirms its Art and rituals in epiphany to life. It is intended to contribute to the processes of vindication and revitalization of the Mayan culture in Guatemala and provides the coordinates of a cartography that allows to open the eyes to a new awakening from unconsciousness to immanent consciousness, towards the realization of transcendent awakened consciousness.

This essay presents the results of the analysis of education as a social organization that contributes to responding to current society problems. A reflection is made on social organization, characteristics, and typologies, defining what an open social system is, education as an open social system, and the contribution of education to society. Likewise, the case of Nicaragua with its educational subsystems, governing entities, and public policies are mentioned. For the development of this work, a bibliographic type of research was applied. The Research Analytical Summaries (RAI) method was used and adapted, which consists of synthesizing key points of the referenced authors. It was developed in three steps: Literature reviews on a given topic, RAI analysis, and answers to some guiding questions. The main conclusion is that education can be considered an open social system where the ability to make adjustments to teaching and learning processes in volatile and changing environments such as those we have been facing in the last five years, due to the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), migrations and pandemics, has been relevant.
