This paper reports a narrative research study on language teaching in higher education. The study aimed to describe the experiences lived by nine language teachers during the transition process from face-to-face to emergency remote teaching and conducted within a qualitative research approach using narrative methodology as a technique of inquiry. The data were collected through stories and a focus group. Based on the data analysis, three main categories were identified: affective component, pedagogical component and technological component. The results showed that at the beginning, the transition was stressful and upsetting, however as time went by, teachers started to feel more confident and calmer about the way they addressed their classes because they adapted to the new teaching reality.

One aspect of pronunciation that can be difficult for Mexican students of English is the articulation of phonemes since it is necessary to learn to differentiate phonemes that are perceived as corresponding due to their orthographical similarity. These phonetical challenges result in inaccurate pronunciation that may cause intelligibility problems and hinder communication with native speakers. Intelligibility, defined as the accuracy with which a listener understands a given utterance (Flege, 1988; Munro & Derwing, 1995), depends on a wide variety of factors attributed to the speaker, the listener, and the perceived signal. The aim of this study was to measure how intelligible the pronunciation Mexican students made of the English voiceless, stop, aspirated consonants, /ph , th , kh /, at the beginning of words resulted to 80 American English speakers. To achieve this, we created an intelligibility test based on word recognition in which American speakers were asked to listen to the word pronounced by a Mexican English student and write down what they thought they had heard. The results showed that the absence of aspiration produced by students caused severe intelligibility problems in the case of the phoneme /ph /, whereas phonemes /th / and / kh / resulted more intelligible. On this basis we conclude that English teachers should pay more attention to teaching the aspirated pronunciation of /ph /.

The main objective of this research was to study the inquiry competence in learning the physical environment in e-Learning environments from the design of a didactic unit in physics in 5thgrade students. Which was executed in three phases and for which the levels of skills related to the competence of inquiry were identified in the students, the teachers’ appraisals regarding the competence of inquiry were described and a didactic unit was designed based on the inquiry methodology and mediated by e-Learning environments, to include within the classroom processes activities that promote the appropriation of this competence and the formation of critical thinking. The methodology that applied was qualitative, with a descriptive case study approach, applied to 20 elementary school students, using instruments such as the IEPP evaluation rubric, interview 8 teachers in the area, and bibliographic records. Likewise, content analysis, triangulation, and documentary review were used as data analysis techniques. The results allowed identifying that 45% of the students are located in the lower level of the inquiry competence, which implies the need to promote learning spaces focused on strengthening this competence-based on learning based on the inquiry methodology and through the didactic unit.

Problem-based learning (PBL) has proved to be a useful and consistent teaching strategy, to the point that it has begun to be implemented worldwide in different school modalities and levels. In this study, we will review the studies carried out at international, national and local levels in relation to the use of this strategy in mathematics education and in particular in the training of teachers in this area of the Colombian school curriculum. The results indicate that PBL consistently improves mathematics teaching and learning practices and that, based on the evidence, its use should be further promoted.

This research proposes a didactic strategy for the conceptual learning of inequalities developed with students between 15 and 16 years of age to dynamize the interpretation, understanding, and solution of situations both in mathematical contexts and in daily contexts, having as methodological reference the conceptual representations, treatments, and semiotic conversions as the three phases of the conceptual development of inequalities. The strategy was developed in classroom sessions in which multiple representations of inequalities were worked on to solve inequalities, determine the domain and codomain of logarithmic functions, rational functions, irrational functions, and semantic conversions of a lipid profile.

This article is part of the research work to determine a methodological model that facilitates monitoring and evaluating the management of economic sustainability in cocoa plantations in Huila. There it is proposed as a main objective, to design a quantitative model, which guides the efficient management in cocoa production systems, from a set of indicators, by the producers, under a rationality and specific motivation. Scientific research analyzes variables and in a cocoa production system, we find various variables of input, process and result. From this principle and from an eclectic perspective, it is intended to find a methodology, focused on metrics with sustainability indicators. In this sense, it is proposed to use a hierarchical structure for the selection of indicators, adapted from the Theory of Principles, Criteria and Indicators (Lammerts van Bueren & Blom, 1996) PC&I. The research process in process, plans to carry out an empirical validation in cocoa production systems in the northern area of the department of Huila. The methodological model to be developed should serve as a tool for the decision-making process of the producer and institutions, at the local, regional or global level.

The objective of the article is to verify the causes of the lack of accessibility of blind consumers in retail stores for the purchase of clothing. For this, a qualitative and descriptive research was carried out with the application of a questionnaire for 10 blind people in the city of Teresina (BR). The results indicated as obstacles: (I) the lack of signs written in Braille; (II) the presence of stairs without identification; (III) the disposition of aisles with unmarked obstacles; (IV) the difficulty of access to the physical store; (V) the absence of attendants to assist in the reading of clothing labels; and (VI) noncompliance with the norms in force. As possibilities, the following were listed (I) the creation of tactile labels; (II) the development of mobile applications; (III) the adaptation of physical spaces to humanize the access of people with disabilities; and (IV) the training and awareness of attendants, salespeople and professionals who deal with the general public.

The opposition between success and failure, according to author Jack Halberstam (2020), is the result of the social logic of asymmetries inherent to the capitalist regime. "Success" is reserved for a "successful" portion of society, while "failure" remains for the margins. Design, located as a profession in the capitalist context, is almost inseparable from this “successful” ideal. Based on this understanding, this investigation aims to reflect on the approaches of the design field with the social practice of failure, supported by theories of cultural studies, in order to criticize the field and imagine possibilities for a transgressive design that encourages the reduction of inequalities.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze key aspects of the function and articulation of a regional entrepreneurial ecosystem within an entrepreneurship domestic policy. Method: This study carried out a documentary review of the existing literature and domestic experiences, supplemented by a structured questionnaire administered to 32 institutions making up the regional entrepreneurship network in the department of Tolima (Colombia). Results: The findings focus on analyzing the role of a regional entrepreneurial ecosystem, its function and articulation, and addressing aspects, such as its target population, capabilities offered, degree of articulation, and mission commitment. In the case under analysis, this study found that, in terms of function, there are sufficient capabilities to serve enterprises in different stages, but there is still a low synergic and systemic orientation, without adequate articulation and projection to the acceleration and growth of enterprises as established by the domestic policy. Discussion: This situation suggests the need to articulate, coordinate, and focus institutional actions of the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem to act systemically towards the promotion of various types of entrepreneurship. Conclusions: This study emphasizes the current situation of the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem to insist on the need for collective and synergistic inter-institutional work, through the coordination and specialization of functions, to achieve the goal proposed by entrepreneurship public policies.

Objective: The purpose was to study the social representations of sustainability standard NTS-T 002 in accommodation micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) entrepreneurs in a province of the department of Boyacá (Colombia). The study also reflected on what kind of standards may introduce changes in the internal and external environment of organizations. Method: The methodology implemented was a qualitative approach, using phenomenology as the study method. Due to the importance of the sustainability standard topic in the world as an instrument, this study designed a semi-structured interview and a focus group for hotel owners, and an interview conducted with the players of the tourism industry. Results and Discussions: This study yielded results regarding the knowledge on sustainability and the standard perceived by the aforementioned players, as well as the entrepreneurs’ perception in being aware of how important implementing this standard is notwithstanding the financial, social, and environmental benefits for the organizational context. However, some of them feel concern for and rejection to the mandatory nature of this process, because they do not have the same guarantees as large companies do. Conclusions: As regards the actions they are willing to take to achieve the standard implementation and/or certification process, they mention the large investments they must make in terms of infrastructure and hiring of staff, among other things, which are not recovered within a short term.
