Resumen
By means of an elliptical reflection in an experimental-noted format, the author proposes a series of communicative and pragmatic elements of reception as a way to define the relationships between the dramatic play and the audience in
the performance.

Resumen
The author looks into the common elements in the format-related writing and attends to the pragmatic signs of the
professionalisation of the script-writing, mainly in such a culture as the Catalan one. The given examples refer to the dialogue’s functions as for the narrative plot construction and the transmission of contents.

Resumen
This paper deals with various questions concerning the two types of border involved in the so-called xurra area: the linguistic border between Catalan (Valencian) and Castilian Spanish (Castilian-Aragonese), and the administrative border between Aragon and País Valencià. Based on data from linguistic atlases (ALEANR, ALPI) and linguistic monographs, the author also examines the distinguishing features of such varieties (basically catalanisms and aragonesisms), and different possibilities for interpretation. Finally, an attempt at a typology of border xurro varieties and speakers is offered: varieties (and speakers) from linguistic borders (1), from administrative
borders (2), from linguistic and administrative borders (3), and the exceptional case of the Racó d’Ademús (4), with its own isolated areas.

Resumen
This paper shows that the contact with Aragonese has shaped the structure of Valencian vocabulary. Many words
traditionally accounted for as Valencian mozarabisms should rather be viewed as aragonesisms or castilianisms;
some of them arrived in remote times, as the new Valencian Kingdom was being populated. The penetration of
these words must have been strengthened when the linguistic reference model weakened as from the 16th century.
The texts show, from early times, the coexistence of two synonyms (Aragonese/Catalan word) which, after a
covariation period, ended up with the prevalence of the word closest to Aragonese (or to Spanish, in later periods).
The old word was either given up or limited to specific senses and/or usage. Part of the vocabulary shared between
Valencian and Aragonese areas appears all along the arc spanning from Navarre to Eastern Andalusia.

Resumen
The paper deals first with those bibliographic sources concerning the relationship between Catalan and Aragonese lexis, analyzling the use of the two vulgar tongues in contact made by sources from the Aragonese area. Then, there is a study of a number of code-switching phenomena in various marriage documents from the 16th century found in the records of the Municipal Archives of Massalió (Terol), which show instances of such code-switching.

Resumen
The author shows how cereal imports from southern Aragon into the Valencian kingdom encouraged contact
between medieval Valencians and Aragon. Through the documents collected, we can observe the links between
southern Aragon and Valencia, discover the specific geographics of such contacts, and see how the arrival of
imported products opened the path for the penetration of Aragonese linguistic material. The paper also offers a
number of Aragonese toponyms adapted into Catalan, drawn from the documents presented.

Resumen
This paper focuses excusively on Valencian gemecar ‘gemegar’, “to whine”. It asserts that it is a generalized form in Valencian areas, where it can be found as early as the 15th century. On the one hand, it refutes the hypothesis that the word should be a back-formation from gemec, and on the other, that it should be linked to Mozarabic. The author shows the continuity with Aragonese gemecar, and underlines that Aragonese keeps intervocalic voiceless consonants, that gemecar can be found in Aragonese documents since the 14th century, and that it has expanded into neighbouring varieties, related to Aragonese (Murcian and Eastern Andalusian). Finally, the paper justifies the acceptance of the variety gemecar, alongside gemegar, in standardized Catalan.

Resumen
We present the status of Astraea (Lithopoma) undosa, A. (L.) turbanica, and Haliotis spp. in Isla San Jerónimo, Baja California, Mexico and describe the associations between the dominant flora and fauna in their habitat. Forty years ago this area was one of the main fishing areas for Astraea and Haliotis along the peninsula, but now it is overexploited. The mean density of A. undosa was 0.1 m–2 and that of A. turbanica was 0.006 m–2. Both species have a low proportion of organisms with the minimum legal size of capture. No abalones were found around the island, but few were found in the intertidal. There is a good proportion of suitable rocky habitat and food for Astraea and Haliotis. Positive associations between dominant macroinvertebrates and flora were detected. Rocky areas with vegetation are the common habitat of Kelletia sp. and Pisaster sp. (predators); and of Strongylocentrotus franciscanus, Tegula spp., and Megathura crenulata (prey); and they were positively associated. Our results suggest a negative covariation and spatial segregation between A. undosa and A. turbanica.

Resumen
Age and growth of the annular seabream Diplodus annularis off the Canary Islands (Central-east Atlantic) were studied. The length range of fish was between 82 and 209 mm in total length. Otoliths showed clear growth rings. Two rings, one opaque and one translucent, were laid down each year on the otoliths. Seasonal growth cycles were related to physiological changes produced by the influence of temperature and reproductive cycle. The opaque ring was deposited during the summer months and the translucent one during the winter months. Individuals aged 0 to 6 years were found. After the first year, the annual growth rate droped rapidly as a consequence of the sexual maturity. The difference in size between males and females was not considered as evidence of an intersexual difference in growth rates since they are the same specimens at different stages of sexual succession. The parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth equation for all individuals were: L∞ = 248.5 mm, k = 0.259 year–1, and t0 = –0.871 year. The backcalculation method demonstrated the validity of using otoliths for estimating age and growth.
