Resumen
In the following pages we have tried to offer to the interested reader a translation of three hagiographical texts ftom the original Latin into Spanish. These biographies, written in the Middle Ages, deal with the life and passion of Saint Desiderius, bishop of Vienne (†606 or 607). The hagiographical biography of Saint Desiderius was told by three different authors, over several geographical and chronological circumstances, and with various finalities and motivations, as from an ideological point of view as from a literary perspective. These three biographical text are:1.- the Vita vel passio Sancti Desiderii a Sisebuto rege composita, 2.- the Passio Sancti Desiderii episcopi et martyris, a work by an anonymous monk of Vienne (s. VIII?), and 3.- the Passio Sancti Desiderii episcopi Viennensis, written by Ado, bishop of Vienne (†875 a. C.).

Resumen
A good sign of José de Acosta's (1767-1822) interest in Latin, pedagogy and Humanities is shown in his work Asuntos de Latinidad, where we can find different glossaries useful in the translation of latin authors. This paper deals with the terms that Acosta supplies so that Sallust can be translated. We have discovered to our pleasant surprise, that Acosta did not consider it sufficient to look up ah the available scholastic dictionaries in bis time, but his teaching concerns and his scientific curiosity went firther than any of bis contemporary colleagues, because he used in bis research R. Estienne Thesaurus Linguae Latinae, lexicon whose high quality is beyond all doubt.

Resumen
This paper is an attempt to make a comparative study between the episode of the whale in the Saint Brendan Legend and the description of that cetaceous in the Physiologus. The author translates and confronts some texts from both works and from the first voyage of Sindbad in The Thousand and One Nigths.

Resumen
The existence in Spanish of the singular form párpado (<*palpetrum), a survival of Latin palpebrae (palpetrae), is a paradigmatic example of a series of common linguistic phenomena which generally are well described in the study of the evolution of Latin into the romance languages. Among these phenomena the following can be cited: changes in grammatical gender of words referring to parts of the body, double stressing of words whose penultimate syllabe occurs before «muta cum liquida», alternation and switching positions of dfferent suffixes, and the influence of Greek words on Latin versions of Greek technical books.

Resumen
This paper analyses certain aspects of the activities of the Jesuit missionaly José de Anchieta (1534-1597) regarding the Brazilian Indians. In bis work, De gestis Mendi de Saa, his plays and his countless letters, we discover exotic descriptions, innumerable pieces of information and details of all kind. Ahl these data -of noteworthy ethnographic and anthropological value- evidence, at the same time, Father Anchieta's state of mind and disposition as defender and protector of the aborigines. This attitude constitutes bis most creditable feature, and bis personal style has gained recognition in the context of the European Christian civilization.
