An analysis of the anonymous poem ´Ορφέως ´Αργοναυτικά raises doubts as to what the author knew about Orphism and whether it could be said that he was an Orphic - being as he was a member of an assembly of people initiated in the misteries. In the present study an analysis of the sacrifices referred to in the poem is carried out, as it is considered that this could throw some light on the subject.

The major aim of this work is to offer a general survey of the different terms used by Latin writers to refer to the Iberian Peninsula. Sharp differences between poetry and prose writers may be thus settled according to their distinct use of names for it such as Hispania, Hiberia or Hesperia. This fact has lead us to analyze their occurence in poetry, paying special attention to those seemingly more significant in this sense.

The article begins by posing the old question whether Bias must be qualified as a judge or rather as an arbiter. Then, the context of the legend of the Seven Wise Men is briefly alluded to, and Bias' role in the political life of Priene is stated with the aid of a text from Plutarch and a couple of inscriptions. Lastly, the author discusses the attitude of Heraclitus towards Bias and the controversy between the ideals of active vs. contemplative life, in order to ascertain the image of Bias as a traditional Sage.

This article summarizes the literary tradition on the subject of the celestial rise and fall of souls from its beginning till the Renaissance. The author concentrates his attention on the role played by Greek scholars, with special reference to the innovations presented by Plutarch. Once introduced the astral journey into the Christian eschatology, its survival and passing on into the Middle Ages is assured by late commentators and scholars such as Servius, Macrobius, Boethius and Martianus Capella. The Twelfth Century, with the School of Chartres, means the literary revival of the classical theme which flourishes in medieval literature and the first Italian Renaissance. The work ends with two references to Castillian poetry, El laberinto de la Fortuna, by Juan de Mena and El Dezir del nacimiento de Don Juan by Micer Francisco Imperial, in whose structure underlies this tradition of the celestial journey of souls.

This paper studies the belief in the possibility of a soul travelling out the body, while she is alive. Although chamanistic experiences aren't specially characteristic of the greek cultur, the ancient greek world, however, knows some stories about temporary journeys of the soul outside of her body. Sometimes the tales show legendoy characters near to myths, another times they are literary myths with ethic purposes. The paper tries to deal with both aspects.
