The study of a bryophytes samples from the neighbourhood of Los Barrios (Cádiz) reveals the existence of two species of Sphagnum of the Subsecunda section: S. denticulatum Brid. (= S.lescurii Sull., S.auriculatum Schimp.) and S.platyphyllum (Braith.) Warnst. The first species had been already mentioned in the province of Cádiz, but the second one was unknown in Andalusia. The presence of this latter species with circumpolar distribution (Karlin, 1991) is a peculiar addition to the group of elements which a geobotanical meaning to the southern mountanious area of the province of Cádiz.

A caryological study of R. ficaria L. from the Iberian Peninsula has been made. The somatic number is 2n=16, although some populations have triploids (2n=24) or tetraploids (2n=32). From the caryological data (caryograms, idiograms, asymmetry indices and polyploid levels) relationships have been established between the cytotypes.

In the following study a quantitative and qualitative analysis of thirteen samples of honey is realised. The honey is extracted from beehives all of which are located at an altitude between 600 m to 1000 m in the province of Orense (NW Spain). In eleven of the samples the dominant pollen is Castanea sativa, reaching in three of them a percentage between 80-84%. The pollen of Rubus sp. is also dominant in one of honeys studied, wich a percentage of 67%. The nine remaining honeys are polyfloral and as well as Castanea sativa and Rubus sp. other pollens are commonly present, these being: Adenocarpus complicatus, Campanula sp., Hypericum perforatum, Lotus corniculatus , Prunus sp., Crataegus mono gina and Ericaceae.

A new specie of the genus Teucrium L. section Polium (Lamiaceae) is described. The authors give also its ditribution and ecology. The characters of the new taxa are discussed comparatively with those of affined species, particulary T. buxifolium Schreb., T. musimonum Humbert and T. huotii J. Emb. & Maire.

The pollen morphology of 14 species of Acanthaceae (8) and Verbenaceae (6) usually cultivated in southern Europe, has been studied by light and scanning electron microscopy. Pollen was acetoysed by the method of Erdtman (1960) modificated by Reitsma (1969) and mounted in glycerine jelly for light microscopy. For scanning electron microscopy the pollen were coated of gold evaporate. The taxa examined of Verbenaceae has 3-colporate or 3-colpate pollen grains with psilate-perforate or perforate-reticulate surface. Instead, Acanthaceae present trizonocolpate, trizonocolporate, heterocolpate, bizonocolporate and spiraperturate pollen types with various ornamentation.

Quantitative and qualitative pollen analysis is carried out of peat bog from septentrional Sierras of Lugo. Progresive degradation of autochthonous forest is noticed which is characterized by decrease in arboreal pollen and presence of cereal pollen from the deposit base. Floristic and vegetational characteristics of the sequence as wellas previous palaeobotanical findings cleary suggest a Holocene chronology.

Trifolium spread in the Iberian Peninsula are studied from the cytological point of view. Chromosome number and morphology, size and asimmetry for 25 species are given, and the results are discussed in regard to systematics, life cycle and distribution, taking into account the consulted literature. Stebbins and Romero asimmetry indices are compared for the studied species.

Andalusian communities characterized by Quercussuberpresence as well as shrublands and scrublands linked to them were studied in this work. We describe the potential vegetation (ordo Quercetalia ilicis), shrublands communities (ordo Pistacio-Rhamnetalia alaterni and ordo Cytisetalia scopario-striati), persisting herbaceous communities (ordo Origanetalia vulgaris), and serial scrublands (classis Cisto-Lavanduletea and Calluno-Ulicetea). After a brief introduction to geology, bioclimatology and biogeography of the area, the studied associations are described and inventory tables are enclosed for the new ones proposed: Myrto communis-Quercetum suberis halimietosum halimifolii and lavanduletosum luisieri, Tamo communis- Oleetum sylvestris quercetosum suberis, Asparago aphylli-Calicotometumvillosae genistetosutn linifoliae, Asparago albi-Rhamnetum aleoidis erice tosum scopariae, Bupleuro gibraltarici-Pistacietum lentisci adenocarpetosum telonensis, Phyllireo angustifoliae-Quercetum lusitanicae quercetosum rotundifoliae, Cytiso baetici-Arbutetumunedi bupleuretosumfruticosi, Calamintho baeticae-Gallietum scabri lamietosum flexuosi and digitaletosum bocquetii, Genisto hirsutae-Cistetutn ladaniferi halimietosum viscosii, Ulici eriocladi-Cistetum ladaniferi ericetosum australis, Erico australis-Cistetum populifolii halimietosum viscosii, Cisto salvtfolii-Ulicetum australis, Genisto tridentis-Stauracanthetum boivinii quercetosum lusitanicae and ulicetosum baetici, Junco rugosi-Ericetum andevalensis ulicetosum erioc ladi is described in the text. San guisorbo hybridae-Quercetum suberis quercetosum canariensis is lectotypified and Pyro bourgaeanae-Quercetum rotundifoliae quercetosum sube ris is neotypified. Finally, the seven vegetation series found in the studied area, With Quercus suben presence, are enumerated.

Phenomorphological behauviour of a badlands community in the southwest ot Iberian Peninsula, is described in this work. An analysis based on the study of phenological phases for persisting species was carried out. Data for starting and maintenance of phenophases were taken for each species ( flower buds formation (PF), flowering (FL), fruit setting (FR), seed dispersal (DS), brachyblast vegetative growth (CVB), dolicoblast vegetative growth (CVD), leaf shedding brachyblast (CHB) and leaf shedding dolicoblast (Cl-ID)) More favourable or unfavourable seasons for biological cycle of the community species and the relation among phenological phases and local climate were characterized. As outcome, the studied community shows a multiseasonal phenological pattern. Spring and summer are the seasons where the greater part ot the phenological changes occur.
