Objective. To identify the consumers' consumption habits and perception of drinking water quality in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Materials and methods. A questionnaire was applied under a stratified scheme by socioeconomic levels during two periods that covered the year's four seasons. The results were analyzed through descriptive statistical analysis and simple correspondence analysis to determine the association between variables of interest. Results. The primary source of water supply for drinking and preparing food in households is jugs obtained from local purification plants. 30% of the population uses water from the public network to prepare food; even though the color and smell of water from the public network are perceived as good, the population does not drink water directly from the public network. Conclusion. Consumption habits differ from the perception of water quality from the public network in Culiacán. The results will provide primary information that, together with a subsequent quantitative microbiological risk assessment of tap water in Culiacán, will allow the development of strategies to minimize water supply health-related risks.

Resumen
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen capable of causing different nosocomial infections. The bacterium has been reported to present intrinsic and acquired resistance to antibiotics due to the low permeability of its outer membrane, the overexpression of efflux pumps and the production of enzymes that degrade the antibiotic. The aim of the present study was to identify carbapenem resistance genes (metallo-β-lactamases VIM and IMP) in 50 strains of P. aeruginosa. The identification and antimicrobial susceptibility were performed using the automated VITEK-2 system. Subsequently, the rpoB, blaVIM and blaIMP genes were searched for by polymerase chain reaction; the phenotypic determination of metallo-b-lactamases was carried out by the double disk synergy test. The results obtained confirm that 100% of the strains analyzed correspond to P. aeruginosa. The sensitivity profile showed that 82% of the isolates were resistant to imipenem, while 46% were sensitive to amikacin; the presence of the blaIMP gene was evident in 90% of the isolates, being the most frequent, followed by blaVIM with 32% of the cases. Phenotypically, a positive result was obtained in 88% of the P. aeruginosa strains.

Resumen
The scarcity of water for irrigation is affecting wheat production in Mexico, so it is necessary to select more efficient genotypes with water use. The objective was to evaluate the grain yield and its components of seven durum wheat genotypes under three irrigation regimes during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 autumn-winter cycles. Five varieties and two experimental lines were evaluated under three gravity irrigation schedules (2, 3 and 4 relief irrigations). A completely randomized design with three repetitions was used. The sheets applied for two, three and four relief irrigations were 49.5, 63.4 and 72.5 cm respectively. A significant difference (P ≤ 0.05) was found for grain yield between humidity regimes. With four aids a yield of 8,483 kg ha-1 was obtained, with three aids 7,709 kg ha-1 and with two aids the yield was 6,646 kg ha-1. The STOT line presented the highest grain yield, as did the TARRO line and the Noroeste C2021 variety, although the latter two presented a similar yield (P ≤ 0.05) to the rest of the materials. Hectoliter weight presented the greatest correlation with grain yield.

Resumen
We evaluated the structure and diversity of the gallery forest in La Estanzuela Natural Park, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Eight rectangular sampling sites of 200 m2 (20 x 10 m) were systematically established with a distance of 250 m along the two kilometers of the riverbank. Variables of abundance, dominance, frequency, and importance value and the Margalef indices, Shannon entropy and Shannon's true diversity index were calculated. Fifteen species belonging to 14 genera and 13 families were recorded. The species that presented the highest value of the importance value index were Quercus polymorpha, Populus alba and Croton cortesianus. The indices indicated the richness and diversity of a preserved gallery forest, together with the graphs of diameter and height classes indicate a mature community in an active state of regeneration.

Resumen
Paraquat is an agricultural pesticide from the bipyridyl group with toxic effects on several organs. We present the case of a 15-year-old patient with a 16-week gestation pregnancy who accidentally ingested liquid paraquat. The patient had a history of self-inflicted injuries (cutting). During her hospital stay, she developed hepatorenal damage and pulmonary fibrosis, with a favorable outcome following treatment with supplemental oxygen and corticosteroids. A multidisciplinary approach was taken, including the ethics and bioethics committee, and the pregnancy concluded successfully. Mental health treatment was initiated. We emphasize the importance of identifying risk factors for both physical and psychological health in the care of children and adolescents.

Resumen
Case of a 54-year-old patient who developed a severe, generalized skin reaction known as toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) after starting treatment with allopurinol for gout. The aim of this report is to describe the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of this rare but potentially fatal adverse event. The patient experienced an extensive skin rash, blisters, and skin detachment, affecting approximately 70% of their body. Additionally, they presented with systemic complications such as kidney failure and electrolyte imbalances. The diagnosis was confirmed by clinical findings, histopathology, and the temporal relationship with medication administration. Treatment focused on life support measures, pain control, and infection prevention, as well as immediate discontinuation of allopurinol. Despite treatment, the patient's recovery was slow and complicated.

Resumen
The objectives of this study aimed to correlate environmental and donor management factors that may affect the production and the viability of the cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs) from zebu cows (N=205) in the tropics. A total of (N=5896) COCs were obtained by ovum-pick up (OPU) at different livestock facilities. The COCs were evaluated by stereoscopic microscopy and the dependent variables were: 1) total of COC recovered and 2) percentage of viable COCs. Environmental variables were as follows: Temperature-Humidity Index (THI, comfort, alert, danger and emergency); seasons by rainfall: dry (December-May) and rainy (June-November), and seasons by month. Management included; technological index (TI: low, medium, high), diet (grazing or grazing + supplementation), acclimation (<30, 30–90 and >90 days). One-way ANOVA, factorial and multivariate analysis were performed. THI in comfort and alert resulted in higher viability (68.86±2.00; 74.10±2.59) than danger and emergency indexes (62.40±2.01; 56.52±5.51; p<0.05). Additionally, during summer and winter COCs had lower numerical viability than those recovered in spring and fall 56.88±3.20; 61.07±2.25 vs., 67.90±2.19 ; 76.25±1.92, respectively. Further, high TI resulted in higher viability when compared to low and medium TI 35.54±5.16 vs., 27.31±1.72 and 28.20±1.84, respectively. Furthermore, Grazing cows receiving additional dietary supplementation improved viable COCs compared to grazing alone (30.96±1.77 vs 25.25±2.09; p<0.05). Acclimation had an effect on total COC production and, this was higher in <30 and 30-90 days than >90 37.62±5.24 and 32.65±2.45 vs., 24.21±1.50; respectively (p<0.05).

Resumen
This study examined the use of molecular docking to predict the biological activity of a molecule by assessing its binding or interaction with a biological system (enzyme). The case in point is the compound isolated from the Cordia elaeagnoides tree, named aliodorin, whose potential use as a preservative or antifungal agent was determined. An in-silico analysis was performed on the enzyme laccase, the primary enzyme secreted by the wood-decaying fungus Trametes versicolor. Laccase degrades key components of wood (lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose), a mechanism through which the fungus obtains nutrients for its development. Therefore, it is hypothesized that inhibiting or inactivating laccase would inhibit the growth of T. versicolor. This hypothesis was later confirmed through inhibition tests using the disk diffusion method, demonstrating the inhibitory effect of aliodorin on T. versicolor.

Resumen
Agastache mexicana subsp. mexicana is a medicinal plant with high commercial demand, required as raw material for the pharmaceutical and other medicinal industries, however, its nutritional requirements for its production are unknown, therefore, the aim of current investigation was to modify the NO3-: Ca2+ relationship of the nutrient solution in the vegetative stage in order to evaluate its effect on growth and dry matter accumulation. An experiment was carried out where three levels of NO3- (10, 12 and 14 mEq L-1) and Ca2+ (7, 9 and 11 mEq L-1) of the 100% Steiner Universal Nutrient Solution were used, considering ten repetitions per treatment and a completely random distribution. The experimental unit was a black polyethylene container (15.14L), with red tezontle gravel as substrate, with one plant per container. The results indicated that nutrient solution produced a statistically significant response (p ≤ 0.05) in all the variables evaluated. The 10:9 mEq L-1 solution benefited the relative content of chlorophyll, chlorophyll a, b, stem dry matter, total dry matter and optimized fertilization costs, with respect to the 10:7 mEq L-1 (control), and the 14:9 mEq L-1 solution that obtained the lowest values in the variables evaluated.

Resumen
Nanche (Byrsonima crassifolia L. Kunth) is a fruit with significant potential due to its commercial value and health benefits. However, postharvest fruits exhibit a short shelf life, limiting their marketability and consumption. In this context, the present study aimed to evaluate physicochemical changes, total phenolic content, and antioxidant capacity using refrigeration systems. Two treatments were established: fruits stored at 22 °C (Treatment 1, T1) and fruits stored in a climate chamber at 8 °C (Treatment 2, T2) for 12 days. Evaluations were conducted on days 0, 3, 6, 9, and 12. Refrigeration was effective in reducing physiological and physicochemical parameters (weight loss, firmness, color, °Brix, and citric acid content). Regarding total phenolic compounds, T1 and T2 showed values of 97.09 and 115.88 mg GAE/100 g f. w., respectively. Moreover, antioxidant capacity was observed in nanche fruit. Therefore, implementing a postharvest management system using refrigeration temperatures may extend the shelf life of this fruit while preserving its commercial value and health-promoting properties.
