Resumen
Using gas-liquid chromatography and analyzing terpenoid contents the clarification of some taxonomic problems in Bursera is attempted. Initial experiences indicated a considerable intraspecific chemical variability and it was found that sampling of various individuals per population is necessary in order to achieve an adequate characterization of most of the species. A concrete case is studied of a population from the region of Cañón del Zopilote (state of Guerrero, Mexico), distinguished by a conspicuous pubescence and apparently reproductively isolated from remaining individuals of B. schlechtendalii Engl., which are perfectly glabrous. The terpenoid spectrum of this population is shown to be significantly different and such fact allows to determine its status of independent species, described as such in this paper.

Resumen
Some aspects of the ecology of Mimosa biuncifera Bentham and Mimosa monancistra Bentham at the northwestern region of the state of Guanajuato are presented. Its distribution is related with climate, soil and topography. Information about its phenology and dispersion is given in this paper. Comments about the plant communities where they can be found are given too. The abundance of those species in the secondary vegetation is discussed as an indicator of the disturbance caused principally by the agriculture, the grazing and the felling. It is considered the possibility of the use of those species for the restoration of the soil in some of the semiarid regions of the central part of Mexico.

Resumen
An initial phase in studies of interactions between herbivores and plants (i.e. herbivory) is the determination of foliage characteristics, which, if not determinants, at least show a correlation with the food preferences of herbivores. Chemical characteristics of the foliage as the secondary metabolites of defense have been shown to be crucial elements of such preferences.

Resumen
Mimosa martindelcampoi ( Leguminosae) a new species from southwestern Tamaulipas is described. This species is most closely related to Mimosa leucaenoides Benth., but the number of stamens and leaflets is different, M. leucanoides has 8 stamens and the new species 10. This plant is known at present only from southwestern Tamaulipas.

A new genus Neoeplingia, is described. Its relationship with the allied genera in the subtribe Menthoideae is briefly discussed. Only one species, Neoeplingia leucophylloides is presently known.
