In the studies of the communities of the Peruvian highlands, there are few works that deal with social control, and even fewer those that relate oral traditions, popular beliefs and superstitions, in short, the different characters of Andean folklore, with the various mechanisms of social control. There are quite a few descriptions of folkloric facts, but I think that few of them have tried to see a relationship between what is popular belief and the way in which they are used to coerce people, in order to force them to follow the lines of behavior valued by the group. Many times even at the expense of other individual values of its members, who suffer greater damage in favor of society, considered as a unit.

"Rundering" in its broadest meaning refers to the theft of animals, other than small domestic animals such as dogs, cats, pigs and chickens. In its common meaning, it also excludes the theft of some animals without the intention of obtaining an economic benefit from them. For example, someone who steals a pig from his neighbor to eat it or a truck driver who picks up the lamb that has strayed from the herd and raises it as a spoiled child, are not considered "rustlers" although the Law could prosecute them as such.

Every human group develops norms and criteria for the social behavior of its members in their interpersonal and community relationships. These norms of human conduct make up the art of living in good relations with one's fellow men. The Aymaras of the Qollao plateau behave according to the rules of conduct developed through centuries of their culture's existence. In my attempt to get to know and expose the criteria for the interpersonal and community relationships of the Aymaras, I have collected on tape the interview I conducted in the Aymara language about what an Aymara peasant lives and thinks about his social behavior.

The current process of the Peruvian Agrarian Reform accelerates the influence of the market economy on the peasant communities of the Andes. Increasingly, peasants are distinguished according to their access to the means of production and their way of life: new social structures are appearing while the traditional oppositions between landowner and peasant, "white" and "Indian", hacienda and Community are disappearing. Traditional groups, defined until recently by kinship, are now being distributed into classes of unequal wealth. However, old forms of production and ideologies linked to previous models continue to function. It is not about survival but rather an Andean way of integrating into the market without completely abandoning traditional reciprocity, a simple manifestation of the praxis of the Andean people.
