Resumen
Context: Rotating equipment that operates at high speeds or handles significant loads is designed based on the concept of flexible shafts. This is the case with turbines, compressors, and turbopumps, among others. The theoretical-experimental modal analysis of these shafts is crucial for ensuring a safe and efficient operation, as well as for identifying appropriate maintenance strategies.
Method: In this work, we perform both theoretical and experimental modal analyses of an isotropic flexible rotor based on the Jeffcott model. The theoretical modal analysis is carried out using a numerical model with conditions similar to those of the experimental analysis. The results are compared using the modal assurance criterion (MAC). The validated numerical model enables the evaluation of eigenfrequencies and their associated modal shapes.
Results: The first two bending natural modes of the flexible rotor were obtained from the theoretical and experimental modal analysis, and the mode shapes and natural frequencies were determined. The mode shapes were correlated, exhibiting a correlation value greater than 88%, thus validating the numerical model.
Conclusions: This approach not only enhances the understanding of the shaft’s dynamic response but also contributes to improved decision-making during the design and operation stages of rotating systems in various industrial applications.

Resumen
Solving the power flow problem in transmission networks is crucial for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of electrical power systems. Power flow analysis allows engineers to determine the voltage, current, and power flows of a network, which is essential for maintaining system stability and avoiding overloads. Accurate power flow solutions aid in identifying potential issues such as voltage drops, line losses, and system inefficiencies, enabling the proactive maintenance and optimization of the grid. This analysis is vital for integrating renewable energy sources, as it ensures an effective power distribution, even when dealing with variable generation. Ultimately, solving the power flow problem enhances the overall resilience, reliability, and economic performance of the transmission network, supporting a stable supply of electricity to consumers.

Resumen
This document aims to provide an explanation of the problems and conflicts surrounding the treated water from the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant and its discharge into the sea, particularly in the period between August 2023 and March 2024. The study mainly uses primary and journalistic sources that inform the public debate to present the arguments of each of the actors involved and to analyze their premises. Although a verdict on the safety of the discharge of treated water into the sea is beyond the scope of this article, the conclusion leads to considering political, economic, and other risks that will accompany the process until its end.

Resumen
This article reviews and assesses Carmen Blánquez’s Petra and the Nabataean Kingdom, a unique work in Spanish that comprehensively addresses various aspects of Nabataean society. Highlighting its relevance for Orientalist studies and the analysis of pre-Islamic peoples, the work fills a gap in the historiography of Nabatea, a topic that has been neglected by specialists. Scholars have often focused on publishing isolated discoveries without providing a critical synthesis of the Nabataean kingdom. This text emphasizes the academic value of this book within the Spanish-speaking context, particularly in Mexico, positioning it as an essential source for the study of this fascinating historical period.

Resumen
Patricio Mariano’s novella Juan Masili o ang pinuno ng tulisan is an example of the “Golden Age” (ca. 1900-1921) of vernacular fiction in the Philippines. It showcases the author’s desire to portray the experiences of marginalized social groups that experienced the abuses of the wealthy and powerful, and their attempts to resist this mistreatment. A product of interaction between Tagalog and Spanish, this translation attempts to preserve the evidence of Spanish loanwords that were not fully incorporated into Mariano’s Tagalog.
