Resumen
The National Plan of Hydraulic Works of 1933 was the result of three decades of dedication of the hydrological institutions developed by the Regeneracionismo. The Plan was conceived to solve the shortcomings of the Mediterranean irrigation areas by the construction of dams and the diversions between watersheds. Damming the Júcar to regulate the river was a key element. The creation of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar in 1934, reinforcing the control of users over the river, complicated the implementation of the plan, which was abandoned with the Civil War.

Resumen
The paper presents the characteristics of the Photographic Fund of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar in order to expound the different origins and purposes of the snapshots. Next, the article approaches the potential of the images as testimony of the activities of the organism, but also as tool of geographical analysis of the territory, through the interpretation of seven photos.

Resumen
Episodes of climatological and hydrological drought are characterized in the Jucar Basin Council (between the rivers Serpis and Mijares) since 1930 to 1960, a crucial period for the hydrological planning and the development of flow regulation infrastructures. The episodes identified (1930-31, 1937- 39, 1944-45, 1948-50, 1952-55) affected in unequal degree to the territory. By its special socioeconomic incidence consequences of 1945?s drought are described, making reference to the repercussions on the electric supply.

Resumen
This paper looks at the river floods that occurred in 1949 just before the river patterns of the main rivers were altered by the regulation works. At least three river floods with different magnitude and typology (winter, spring and autumn) were recorded at the Valencian coast at that time. The first part of this paper documents and describes the floods that occurred in the Júcar and Turia flood plain, with the information being mainly extracted from newspapers. The second part analyses and reconstructs the hydrological characteristics related to the river flood of the 28th of September in the Camp del Turia and l?Horta de Valencia areas due to its extraordinary magnitude. The paper also focuses on the vulnerability of the society and the impact of that flood on the area.

Resumen
During the first postwar years the section of the Turia River in Valencia suffered obvious degradation. The settlement of shanty towns and the generalization of aggressive practices transformed the channel into an elongated slum, whose administration was quite beyond the capacities of the hydraulic and municipal authorities. The river flood of 1949 proved the vulnerability of the system and was the inflection point in favor of defensive works and the embellishment of the river in the most urban stretch.

Resumen
During the last 30 years international migration is of increasing quantitative and qualitative relevance. Its global dimension and complexity of social and economic migrants have necessitated a rethinking of the classical theories and explanations and incorporating new concepts such as circular migration, transmigration, migration fields and spaces, and so on. A traditional purely labor migration or survival or change of country to survive, you will now add others such as changing the country to live, which affects both groups of workers and students, refugees, officials, agents commercial and retirees. The migration flows are closely linked to globalization, both in global market is working and leisure, as in the redistribution of the wealth generated in rich countries, where it is sent by migrants to their places of origin, mostly in developing countries. Universal information channels, ease of transportation and financial institutions, both formal and submerged assist these movements of people and capital, thus accelerating the process of globalization. This article aims to give an overview of international migration, with a little history and collecting first part the theoretical questions raised by some experts. In a second part includes several examples of migrations illustrated with a simple mapping and representative of the different forms of migration (labor, student, retired, refugees, remittances) and migrant camps most striking, as are now the United States, Arabian Peninsula or the former USSR.

Resumen
In October of 2000, the Palància River underwent a major flood, which substantially modified the morphology of the river channel. These changes took place on a river bed previously modified by public works aimed at cleaning and simplifying the river section. The flood partially restored the braided morphology, reconstructing bars and channels. Moreover, river incision processes increased, particularly downstream the Palància bridges. This process reveals a sedimentary deficit caused by reservoirs; land use changes and gravel mining. The aim of this work is to describe these processes of change and to analyze the morphosedimentary consequences, through the interpretation of aerial photographs previous, simultaneous and subsequent to the flood.

Resumen
The implementation of a modified version of Gentry?s method to Mosquera?s cork oak forest (Azuébar, Catellón) provides quantitative data on its structure, biomass and biodiversity. This study interprets the obtained results as due to the historical cork removal of this forest, and to other traditional uses such as vegetal charcoal production or removals of biomass fuels. This paper provides useful knowledge on the conditions and dynamics of a managed forest, exploited intensively until early 1960s and now destined to new uses.

Resumen
We evaluate in this paper the accessibility showed by the neighbourhood of Cabanyal- Canyamelar (waterfront of Valencia) in relation with the three campuses the University of Valencia has in the metropolitan area in order to establish the viability of the location of new university facilities as a part of a wider strategy trying to promote a functional revitalisation. We apply specific SIG-T tools to calculate the average time-distance from each city block of the neighbourhood of Cabanyal-Canyamelar to each of the three campuses now existing. These results are interpreted taking into account the mobility patterns of the university community.
