Parasitosis is a problem in Public Health, pets act as reservoirs and are a source of direct and indirect contamination, contaminating water, soil and food sources through their feces. The objective was to determine the frequency of gastrointestinal parasites in dog feces from the Jamapa shelter, Veracruz. The feces of 230 dogs were analyzed in a cross-sectional convenience sampling that lasted from March to July 2023. The samples were taken from the rectum of the animals and were analyzed in the Parasitology laboratory of the “Torreón del Molino” ranch, FMVZ of the Veracruzana University. The techniques used were: Mc Master, Flotation and modified Faust. The analysis was carried out using the STATA program; A general frequency of 98.7% was determined; independently the frequencies were: Trichuris spp. 16%; Giardia spp. 19.5%; Strongyloides spp. 28.2%; Uncinaria spp. 34.7%; Toxocara spp. 57.3% and Ancylostoma spp. 81.7%. The general frequency was similar for both sexes. Regarding age, all groups presented a frequency greater than 95%. It was determined that there is a high presence of gastrointestinal parasites in this shelter, which could pose a risk to Public Health.

Research on the career trajectory of impoverished black women is scarce despite their significant representation in the global demographic pyramid. Thus, through a qualitative and inductive approach involving in-depth interviews and documentary analysis, this study sought to analyze the career trajectory of Black, impoverished women from Rio de Janeiro. As main results, we highlight that NGOs are recognized as important social actors in the pursuit of emancipation and autonomy by promoting training and encouraging various possible career paths for these women. Additionally, the interviewees mentioned to be unaware of public sphere actions that contribute to overcoming the inequalities demonstrated by the current asymmetry in access to opportunities, emphasizing the differences between social groups, thus reinforcing such inequalities further within the social context. The study contributes to career literature by exploring the trajectory of impoverished Black women, a group neglected in the literature. It empirically contributes to encouraging reflection and possible actions by the first, second, and third sectors to reduce the discrepancies experienced by these women. The study also contributes to understanding the importance of NGOs’ role in providing emotional, technical, and operational support to these women.

This study analyzes how modes of subjection are revealed in discursive practices about the working relationships of innovation professionals. The research starts from the understanding that these modes of subjection are evident in labor relations in the professional field of innovation, based on Foucauldian theory. We analyze the speeches made by these professionals. The empirical scope was innovation professionals from the creative economy and information and communication technology fields. Fourteen narrative interviews were conducted with specialists from different locations in Brazil, adopting criteria of representativeness and saturation. The findings show 2 modes of subjection: austerity, which shows the subjection that the professional exerts on themselves as a relational process of the subject with themselves, according to their life experiences, going through family power structures, moral attachments, and emotional and material difficulties; and conformity, which reveals the subjection arising specifically from the professional dimension, showing how the subject binds themselves to the rules of their field, marked by constant and compulsory connectivity, as well as excessive stress. Both modes of subjection highlight aspects of neoliberal logic and the field of innovation. The research contributes to the field of innovation both theoretically, through an approach uncommon in works in the area, and in terms of applicability, by highlighting important aspects that can influence the work of professionals, which can be taken into account in the management policies of organizations.

In times of major crises, such as those brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations must adapt how they operate. In this context, the importance attributed to each managerial competence can be changed to guarantee the organization’s survival. Thus, considering managerial competencies as a set of characteristics and traits that favor superior performance (Boyatzys, 1982) and the ability to mobilize and combine personal and environmental resources in a specific situation (Le Boterf, 1999), this article analyzes changes in the relevance attributed to managerial skills in the supermarket retail segment in Brazil before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a quantitative study with data collected through a questionnaire applied to managers. Data were analyzed using non-parametric statistics, exploratory factor analysis, and paired Wilcoxon signed rank test. The results show that changed competencies included: memory, use of socialized power, use of unilateral power, and knowing how to combine resources and mobilize them in each context. This study provides information to guide managers and organizations in developing and using managerial skills in times of change.

How do discourses and practices of business ethics awards align, considering the plurality of ethical values and principles? To answer this question, we critically analyze the Brazilian empirical case “Pro-Ethics.” Pro-Ethics, a joint initiative led by the Brazilian Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) and Ethos Institute, is a symbolic action that promotes recognition of firms committed to preventing and combating corruption and that strive to make the corporate environment more integral, ethical, and transparent. We performed textual analysis through Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis. As a result, we identified that the national integrity and business ethics system was imported from big global economic nations without considering the local reality and the cultural and social particularities that permeate trust relationships in Brazil. We also identified a progressive emptying of ethical and moral meanings in human relations in the capitalist context and the substitution of its content to cost-benefit relationships. Our analysis brings two main contributions. First, it adds to the discussion on business ethics awards, a field that academia has not explored in Brazil and is underdeveloped worldwide, with very few papers focusing on this subject. Secondly, it questions business ethics management practices, demonstrating the instrumental nature of the subject.

This study aimed to apply the concepts of the Institutional Analysis and Development (IAD) Framework to Brazilian mutual credit guarantee societies (SGC). They are organizations that facilitate access to credit for small businesses through risk sharing. They are created and managed collectively, with peculiar characteristics, and adapted to their territories, like common goods. Exploratory and descriptive method was used to deepen the reality of SGC, bibliographical research in secondary sources, to carry the concepts of the IAD Framework and in primary sources to capture the SGC’s day-to-day. This reality was confronted with IAD Framework which tested SGC’s common good characteristics. It was concluded that the tool is adequate for studying SGC. The framework proved robust, allowing to examinate details of these attributes, and providing a deep reflection on the SGC’s management and reality.
