This article aims to reflect on women and gender historiography. First, we succinctly examine the transition from a history without women to a women’s history. Second, we pay attention to “gender” as a category of historical analysis and to the displacement to a gender history. Third, we consider the path towards institutionalization and recognition of these studies. And finally, we present some current problems and challenges characteristic of this field of research.

This article studies the origins of the way of life known as an amphibian culture on the Colombian Atlantic coast, its expression in forms of mixed subsistence associated with the indigenous tradition around the use of aquatic ecosystems and especially in the river navigation of the lower Magdalena. For this purpose, we have used documents and primary sources such as chronicles of the Indies, files from the General Archive of the Indies in Seville (AGI), archaeological field research, and compilations of historical documents on the Caribbean coast made by historians. We note that pre-Hispanic navigation was widely spread in this area since, besides the hostile terrestrial roads, nature offered fluvial paths, representing a travel alternative with significant advantages in different areas. This produced an eventual use and appropriation of this knowledge by the European colonizers of the XVI century, as in an environment where the ships and the knowledge of the western world did not seem to be enough, the canoes together with the indigenous labor force were more useful than the European ships, with disastrous consequences for a way of life that, nevertheless, still survives nowadays

Infrastructure works are key elements for evaluating the characteristics of the Inca domination in any territory of the state. New documentary investigations in the lowlands of north-central Mendoza (Central West Argentina) offer relevant information related to the identification and location of Inca constructions and ditches. This article presents the results of these studies and examines the implications for understanding the political-administrative and economic organization of the Guentata, Uco, and Jaurúa valleys and surrounding areas, on the southeastern border of Tawantinsuyu.

The present article aims to re-evaluate Eduard Seler’s linguistic fieldwork on Popti’. By means of a comparison with two contemporary vocabularies of the same language, published by Otto Stoll and Karl Sapper, it is intended to evaluate both Seler’s ability as a linguist and the historical context in which he operated. By identifying the errors present in the entries of the vocabularies and analyzing their probable causes, an approach to the situation in the field and the problems faced by each researcher is achieved. As an additional result, the three vocabularies with corrected entries are presented.

This paper discusses the use of the grammatical category of person within a specific discursive genre – ceremonial speech. This kind of discourse occurs during traditional offering rituals, which form part of the common Mayan culture. The focus of this study is on the Poqomchi’ Maya tradition. There are three major categories of participants in the ritual: spiritual guides, attendees and supernatural beings to whom the invocations are addressed. A linguistic analysis of the word forms that bear person marking and their referents in ceremonial discourse elucidates the specific relations between participants and provides insight into the internal structure of the ritual act.

This article presents the work of Eduard Seler (1849-1922), a pioneer in the study of the ancient cultures of Mesoamerica, with a focus on his research methodology and his extensive collecting and documentation activities, that become visible in the unpublished graphic and written materials from the legacy of Seler and his student Walter Lehmann held at the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (Ibero-American Institute, IAI) in Berlin. The authors provide examples of Seler’s work, point out the important activities of his wife Caecilie Seler-Sachs and trace the path of the archives after Eduard Seler’s death.

Fundamento: la asignatura Biología Molecular ha presentado insuficiencias en el proceso enseñanza aprendizaje en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Holguín, las que requieren solución.Objetivo: valorar la efectividad de una metodología de aprendizaje profesional basada en proyectos en la asignatura Biología Molecular como forma de perfeccionar el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje.Métodos: se realizó una investigación de desarrollo en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Holguín durante el curso 2021. Se emplearon los métodos teóricos: histórico–lógico, analítico–sintético y el inductivo–deductivo; empíricos: el análisis documental y el registro de las calificaciones de las preguntas de la primera convocatoria del examen final de la asignatura. Se realizaron pruebas estadísticas a los resultados de la evaluación final. Se utilizó una metodología de aprendizaje basada en proyectos para la implementación de la Biología Molecular, aplicada a una parte del contenido del programa analítico de la asignatura, que utilizó guías didácticas para los estudiantes y orientaciones metodológicas a los profesores, con el soporte de videos complementarios a las conferencias y a contenidos de currículo oculto, relacionados con la vinculación básico–clínica con orientación profesionalizante.Resultados: las preguntas del examen final cuyo contenido fue tratado según la metodología de proyecto de aprendizaje mostraron significativamente mejores resultados que aquellas tratadas de forma convencional.Conclusiones: la metodología de aprendizaje basada en proyectos para la asignatura Biología Molecular se determinó factible para su aplicación y proporcionó la flexibilidad necesaria para el tránsito de la docencia presencial a la modalidad a distancia. 

Fundamento: el progresivo avance en la edad media de la población ha propiciado un incremento de la prescripción del tratamiento anticoagulante oral en la práctica clínica.Objetivo: caracterizar la preparación sobre el manejo de pacientes con anticoagulantes orales en médicos generales de los policlínicos universitarios “Capitán Roberto Fleites”, “Chiqui Gómez-Lubián” y “Santa Clara”.Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en el período enero-diciembre de 2020, en tres policlínicos universitarios del municipio de Santa Clara, Villa Clara, Cuba. Se utilizaron métodos teóricos: análisis-síntesis e inducción-deducción para la fundamentación de la información; empíricos: cuestionario y análisis de documentos; y matemático estadísticos para el procesamientos de los datos.Resultados: el cuestionario permitió valorar los conocimientos sobre el tratamiento con anticoagulantes orales en la categoría Regular en la mayoría de los muestreados; mientras en el análisis del programa se detectaron pocas horas dedicadas al tema investigado y la necesidad sentida de capacitación manifestada por los encuestados.Conclusiones: el diagnóstico realizado confirmó las carencias de los médicos generales en el manejo del paciente en la prescripción del tratamiento con anticoagulantes orales.
