In today's competitive and dynamic environment, ice cream parlors face the challenge of staying relevant in the face of new trends, market evolution and changes in consumer tastes and preferences. Traditional marketing strategies are losing effectiveness and becoming obsolete. According to Kotler, Kartajaya, and Setiawan (2017), marketing innovation is crucial to adapt to changing customer needs. Furthermore, Pine and Gilmore (2019) highlight the importance of creating meaningful experiences for users, which is vital to maintaining competitiveness. Recent studies by Smith and Colgate (2018), Lemon and Verhoef (2016), Wirtz and Lovelock (2016), and Kumar and Reinartz (2018) reinforce the need to update marketing strategies to meet current consumer expectations. This research adopts a quantitative, correlational and non-experimental design based on cross-sectional data. Data collection was carried out through a self-administered questionnaire in Google Forms. The reliability of the instrument was measured using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Data analysis was carried out using SmartPLS 4.00, a tool commonly used in sensory marketing studies. The sample consisted of 283 participants, predominantly young people between 18 and 25 years old. The descriptive statistical results indicated significant positive correlations between visual, olfactory and gustatory factors and their impact on purchase decisions. The regression analysis revealed that the visual (β = 0.456, p < 0.001) and gustatory (β = 0.321, p < 0.002) factors significantly and positively influence price perception. However, sensory (β = 0.06, p = 0.284) and olfactory (β = -0.051, p = 0.378) factors did not show a significant relationship with price perception. These findings are consistent with the literature that identifies visual and gustatory stimuli as key determinants in the perception of product value (Iglesias, Guillén, & Peña, 2021; Garay Tuanama, 2021). The results indicate that visual and gustatory factors have a significant and positive influence on price perception, while sensory and olfactory factors do not show a significant relationship. This aligns with existing literature suggesting that visual and gustatory stimuli are crucial in forming product value perceptions. Despite evidence suggesting that olfactory stimuli can affect consumer behavior (Chirinos Retuerto, 2020), this study did not find a significant relationship with price perception. Future studies should further explore these relationships, considering potential moderating variables and different contexts. This study highlights the importance of integrating sensory marketing strategies in ice cream shops. By improving the sensory environment, ice cream parlors can significantly improve the customer experience and increase their competitiveness in a rapidly changing market. The findings provide valuable insights for managers looking to leverage sensory marketing to foster customer loyalty and satisfaction, thereby driving sales and brand differentiation in a saturated market.

This study evaluated how gender and marketing activities influence the success of business models in Machala, Ecuador, an especially challenging context for microbusinesses and artisans during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data from 213 companies selected through non-probabilistic sampling were used. The dependent variable was the success of the business model, evaluated binary, while the independent variables were gender and marketing activities. A logistic regression analysis was used using SPSS. The results showed that both gender and marketing activities are significant predictors of business model success. Businesses led by men are 4.92 times more likely to be successful, and implementing marketing activities increases this probability significantly. Gender diversity and the implementation of marketing strategies are critical factors for business success. Promoting these elements can optimize the performance of business models in similar contexts.

This study analyzes the influence of youth slang on the academic performance of high school students in the city of Manta. As communication evolves in response to social and technological needs, slang has become a crucial element in the interaction among young people, reflecting their identity and social dynamics. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines qualitative and quantitative methods, the research included structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with teachers. The results reveal that, although youth slang facilitates peer communication, its excessive use in academic contexts can hinder learning and comprehension of content. This study highlights the need for educators to be aware of the slang used by students and to develop strategies to effectively integrate academic language, thereby promoting a more inclusive and effective learning environment. The implications of these findings suggest that education must adapt to the linguistic realities of students to improve their academic performance and communication skills in formal contexts.

This article presents the results of a reflection aimed at understanding evaluation practices within the Student Institutional Evaluation System (SIEE) of the virtual school Cibercolegio UCN, in relation to formative assessment. Through a qualitative approach, information was analyzed and interpreted based on a hermeneutic exercise, focusing on the analysis of the following explored categories: 1) evaluative strategies, analyzing the learning process; 2) evaluation techniques and tools, to recognize students' competency development; and 3) forms of evaluation by educational agents, considering the distribution of evaluative authority. Results identified various areas for improvement in Cibercolegio UCN's evaluation practices, such as the lack of clarity in systematizing records and the need to continue enhancing both teaching and feedback processes. Additionally, recommendations are offered to adjust both the SIEE and its derived practices. This study can promote more effective evaluative practices aligned with current educational needs, not only in Cibercolegio UCN but also in other institutions theoretically supported by formative assessment.

The objective was to analyze the place of community psychology in the curricular structure of professional training programs in psychology in the Colombian Eje Cafetero. A literature review methodology was used through thematic Content Analysis (CA), which allows interpreting texts and understanding aspects of social life. The results showed that community psychology is conceived more as a methodological orientation, related to the development of capacities for the professional practice of students. In addition, the psychosocial perspective, despite its conceptual indefinition, is presented as an alternative for the analysis of psychosocial problems. Finally, no reference to the category of risk management was found in the texts reviewed, although it is integrated in community work and academic training in one of the universities that participated in the study.

The use of information and communications technologies (ICT) in remote education has facilitated the teaching-learning processes. However, it is important to note that some teachers have experienced levels of stress associated with integrating these tools into their pedagogical practice. The objective of the study was to determine the stress in relation to communicative interaction, perceived by university professors, in mediation with ICT. A quantitative correlational study was carried out with a sample of 209 professors from two higher education institutions (HEIs) in the southwestern Colombia and they were selected through stratified random sampling. The results showed that the activity that teachers carry out most frequently are classes, and regarding the management of ICT skills, they were located at the exploratory level. 64.1% of teachers were classified as having high and very high levels of stress. A significant correlation (p < 0.05) was found between communication skills in mediation with ICT and stress. It is concluded that the level of self-perceived stress may be related to the communicative interaction in the remote work from home scenario.

This research examined the changes in emotional intelligence from the application of a gamified practice, designed and validated in students of professional phase of Industrial Engineering. A quasi-experimental, cross-sectional study in which 20 women and 28 men from an Industrial Engineering program in the city of Pereira participated. A sociodemographic data sheet, the TMMS-24 (Trait Meta Mood Scale) and a perception survey were used. The design of the practice was submitted to validation by twelve experts, whose evaluation criteria were: descriptive clarity, objective correspondence, coherence, pertinence and viability. Descriptive analyses, means comparisons (Wilcoxon), and the gamified practice were applied in five groups. The experts agreed with the design of the practice concerning the evaluation criteria to which it was submitted. The pre and post measures indicated statistically significant differences in emotional intelligence. Students expressed satisfaction with the practice and considered gamification as a tool to facilitate learning. The findings contribute to the study of emotional intelligence in engineering students who are close to the workforce and guide the promotion of attention, clarity and emotional repair through gamification.

The objective of this paper is to analyze the construction of legitimacy of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) in Colombia based on organizational discourses and narratives, within the framework of the peace process in Colombia, from the conceptual and epistemic references of Organizational Studies (EO). Methodologically, the paper adopts a qualitative approach, carrying out a narrative analysis of the JEP's discourse based on its institutional archives, videos, statements and reports, as discursive ways of building legitimacy, between 2018 and 2020. The analysis was processed from two narratives as an organizational history taken from public sources of the JEP: 1) the victims as a central element of JEP, and 2) the JEP as an actor of a rule of law. The results and conclusions show that the JEP discourse allows the construction of an organizational narrative that is increasingly faithful to an archetype, instrumentalizing its managerial discourse and co-constructing expectations of performance and effectiveness in satisfying the rights of victims and overcoming the conflict, as central elements to legitimize their actions.
