This paper compares the working dynamics of certain conceptual models commonly employed in entrepreneurship, design, and innovation, with the aim of suggesting the properties of a meta-model that detect and act according to a wide range of multidisciplinary implications. The method required a thematic selection of the models, a brief individual description, the comparison of its elements and structure, and an analysis to acknowledge its operational logic and identify its strengths. That way the ideal features of an updated and flexible proposal emerge, especially when angled towards the initial stages of conceptual development of novel business models or creative ventures. In conclusion, the need of a new model becomes evident, one that helps obtaining a well-defined panorama of the relations between proposals and systems, so it becomes easier to mitigate the operating difficulties in real cultural, technological, and economic contexts.

Retirement is the adaptation and learning process of people who leave their work environment, which covers their individual, work, family and support environments. This study seeks to address the experience of working wives from retired husbands, through a qualitative approach of their socialization, through phenomenological design, empirical approach, semi-structured interview to a sample of typical cases and by criterio, women between 50 and 67 years old divided into two groups, by their profession, educational level and number of children. The results are divided into: husband's retirement and activities; economical condition; activities and wife tasks and expectations, emotional state and considerations of their old age. Findings reveal expectations towards rest and economic uncertainty and others, as something good and awaited, but not planned; home, family and work activities in some cases scarcely shared and in others more involved; emotional state for some of them is "normal" and in others positive.

Aim: to perform an integrative review based on a clinical question: "Can motivational interviewing (MI) be used to prevent dental caries in preschool children?". Materials and methods: an integrative literature review was conducted in April 2021 using an adaptation of the "6S System". We also evaluated the quality of the systematic reviews (SR) found through two tools for methodological assessment. Evidence-Based Dentistry, Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice and on the website of the Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry of the American Dental Association. SRs were searched in the Cochrane Library and PubMed/Medline databases were searched. The selected search words were "motivational interviewing" and "dental caries". Results: the final search resulted in 2 SR on the topic. One SR from 2020 showed a reduction in dental caries through meta-analysis, but with no statistically significant difference; the authors point out that the limited evidence is due to the presence of heterogeneous studies based on different methodologies. Another SR from 2021 concluded that MI has the potential to modify behavior and significantly reduce carious lesions, mainly in children with high caries experience. The methodological quality of the SR included in this review was also assessed using the PRISMA and AMSTAR-2 protocols. Both showed high quality and low risk of bias. Conclusion: the practice of MI contributes to the prevention of dental caries in preschoolers, especially in high-risk children. However, the evidence is moderate, obtained from poor meta-analyses and a limited number of randomized studies of good methodological quality.

Aim. This study pretends to compare the clinical and microbiological effectiveness of three techniques for the elimination of carious tissue in children aged 4 to 8 years old. Methods. Fifty-seven primary teeth were analyzed. Group I: traditional technique (19 teeth), Group II: Brix (18 teeth), Group III: Papacarie (20 teeth). The data for clinical evaluation (need for anesthesia and running time) were recorded in each case history. Before and after the operative procedure, samples were taken from the carious lesion with sterile micro brush, transported in thioglycollate to quantitatively analyze the total bacteria present per milliliter, using blood agar cultures (Columbia base). Information was tabulated and statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance, Tukey’s and Chi Square tests, establishing p≤0.05 as the criterion of significance. Results. The difference on number of bacteria between group I (41.22 ± 4.45), and groups II and III (65.96 ± 4.33, 83.45 ± 4.57), revealed that group I was less effective. Groups II and III did not require the use of anesthesia, the difference being significant in the group of pre-school children (4 and 5 years old). The execution time for each technique was faster in group I (2.12 min ± 0.15) p˂0.0001. Conclusions. Techniques that use some chemical agents allow a greater elimination of bacteria during the removal of carious tissue, without resorting to anesthesia, can be recommended as an alternative to traditional treatment especially in young children.

Introduction: Increased consumption of energy dense food and the lack of physical activity have led to an increase in child obesity. Mexico ranks one of the highest rates in Latin America. Objective: Identify the main foods that parents offer to preschool children in Mexico. Frequency to the week and the quantity of added sugar to diet. Method: Descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional study. A poll National Health and Nutrition Survey (ENSANUT) was applied, considering, sex, age, parent's school grade, place of origin, foods offered to children, including milk and milk product, fruits and vegetables and processed food. Descriptive statistics summarized in frequencies and percentages were performed. The association of variables (sugar intake vs cavities) was done using Chi2 considering p≤0.05 as statistically significant. Results: n= 98 surveys. 83.7% of the parents who responded were women. 37.8% was between the ages of 36 and 40. The average age of the children was 4.4±0.76 years. Fruit and vegetable consumption was reported 5-6 times a week, banana was the fruit more frequent consumption and the carrot of the vegetable. The fast food, cereal and candies were consumed 2-4 times a week. Conclusion: This survey indicated an increase in the consumption of fresh water with sugar and industrialized juices. Keywords: Obesity, preschool, sugars, dental caries, México.

Introduction: Patients with Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) present molars with special characteristics due to failure in the maturation process during amelogenesis. As a consequence, they may present a high degree of dental hypersensitivity, which makes it difficult to eat, as well as oral hygiene. Objective: To describe the therapeutics available as desensitizers in MIH through a review of the literature. Materials and methods: An electronic search of the following search engines was carried out: PubMed, MEDLINE, EBSCO, LILACS, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Scielo; from 2007 to 2023. The terms Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) used in the bibliographic search were in English: “tooth sensitivity treatment”, “molar incisor hypomineralization treatment”, “pediatric dentistry MIH”, combined with the Boolean operators OR and AND. The DeCS terms in Spanish were: “dental remineralization”, “molar hypomineralization”. Results: Most of the studies concluded that the use of various agents such as fluoride varnish, 8% arginine pastes, CPP-ACP (amorphous calcium phosphate casein phosphopeptide) pastes, laser use, should be incorporated. to patients with MIH, however, the evidence is limited.

Dental visits have a great impact on the child as well as on their parents and/or caregivers for their judgment regarding subsequent dental visits. Objective: To evaluate if there are differences when comparing the factors to choose a pediatric dentist and the previous dental consultation in Metropolitan Lima. Material and methods: Cross-sectional study with a sample of 294 parents. Data on the child's previous dental consultation in pediatric dentistry between 0 and 5 years of age were collected, with response categories of Yes and No; the factors for choosing a pediatric dentist, with response categories of very important, very useful, not important and not useful. For this, a virtual questionnaire of 29 items was used. Fisher's exact test and Chi square were used for bivariate analysis. Results: Statistically significant differences were found in 4 of 5 factors such as recommendations, previous experiences, types of information sought and logistics. On the other hand, it was found that 50.68% of children under 5 years of age had had a dental consultation with a specialist, where 20.07% had attended in the range of 1 to 3 years of age and only 12.59% attended before first year to the dental consultation with the pediatric dentist. Conclusions: There are differences when comparing the factors to choose a pediatric dentist and the previous dental consultation in Metropolitan Lima. Finally, it was shown that parents do not take their children to their first dental visit before the first year, a recommendation indicated by the American Dental Association

This study aimed to evaluate undergraduate students’ medium-term knowledge retention after a learning activity related to caries lesions detection. This study is part of the IuSTC multicenter study. Last-years dental students were invited to participate and were exposed to the teaching activity. Their knowledge retention after 1.5 year was assessed. Theoretical and practical tests (scored 0 to 10) were prepared to evaluate knowledge, abilities and attitudes The scores were set as outcomes. Multilevel regression analyses were used to assess the association between students’ performance and his/her perception about the importance of such learning activity in curriculum. Particularities related to students’ performance in specific topics and types of evaluations were also explored. 302 students participated. On average, students achieved 6.68 (SD=1.88) in theoretical and 5.5 (SD=2.27) in practical assessment. Student’s perception was associated with their performance. In theoretical test, students performed worse (21% of correct answers) in linking clinical and histological condition or justifying clinical decision-making for inactive lesions (36% of correct answers). In the practical test, 70-90% demonstrated ability to detect, assess activity and make the decision about management of initial or severe lesions, while 50% of students could assess adequately moderate caries lesions and only 32% demonstrated correct attitude related to their management. Undergraduate students’ knowledge retention related to the detection of caries lesions is moderate in a medium-term analysis. It is noted that for some topics (e.g. not related to practice/justification of attitudes), the students’ performance tends to be worse.

The minimal intervention has been gaining more notoriety in Dentistry, reflecting growing demand from professionals looking for techniques that promote efficient treatments and preserve the dental structure. Objective: The present study aimed to promote non-restorative cavity control (CCNR) in a child patient through regularization of the cavity of the carious lesion to allow better cleaning of the area, together with a complimentary fluoride protocol. Case presentation: Male patient, 4 years old, presenting adequate oral hygiene. However, biofilm accumulation occurs between the upper central incisors without symptoms or aesthetic complaints. Therefore, the mesial surfaces of the central incisors were smoothed with abrasive strips to remove undercut areas and facilitate access to improve oral hygiene. The fluoride varnish was applied in 4 sessions, with an interval of one week between each application. The patient's mother was instructed on hygiene and diet care. During 36 months, there was a clinical and radiographic follow-up of the patient with returns every 12 months. The visible plaque index and the hygiene and diet guidance results were also re-evaluated. Conclusion: In this clinical case, surface regularization associated fluortherapy proved to be a successful long-term treatment alternative, allowing the preservation of dental tissue and preventing the progression of caries lesions. The ultra-conservative concept can be a valid alternative due to its effectiveness, simplicity, low cost, and good acceptance by children and their parents.
