Resumen
One of the trends in contemporary Latin American literature seeks, among other purposes, to make visible the subjects and bodies that the official discourse relegated to the condition of the other. In this context, the Puerto Rican case is fundamental, because recent textual practices seek to function not only as an aesthetic object, but also as a political act reclaiming that otherness. An example of this is the queer theme, which has gradually appropriated the Puerto Rican narrative to make dissident sexualities visible from the perspective of different characters. This article analyzes sexile as a narrative motif in the discursive construction of homophobia in the stories “Junito”, “Muchos o de cómo a veces la lengua es bruja” and “Mundo cruel”, published in Mundo cruel (2010), by Luis Negrón. It is concluded that the United States represents an ideal space to experience sexuality or a place far from the national territory, where those, the inverted, should go. In Puerto Rico, migration is, therefore, necessary: for some, because it allows the experience of sexuality in freedom; for others, because it maintains the status quo of the nation.

Resumen
This paper analyzes the stories “Enmascarados” by Claudia Hernández and “Una visa para Jairo” by Mauricio Orellana. The objective is to propose the representations of Jairo and the child, respectively, as well as the spaces in the stories, as an aesthetic resource to evidence the dehumanization of the migrant characters. The stories expose an animalization that hierarchizes human life over animal life based on what Giorgio Agamben (2006) calls the modern anthropological machine. At the same time, the spaces in which this animalization takes place have a public, open, and transitory character, which evidence a performative transformation, in terms of Richard Schechner (2012), which at the same time can be understood from the space-time relationship of Doreen Massey (2012). The results of the analysis show literary strategies that combine the ethical and the aesthetic to evidence the dehumanization of migrant transit.

Resumen
The article affirms the guiding idea of the validity of democracy. Understood as a form of government with universal pretensions, it is besieged. The eclipsing of democracy corresponds to the weakening of the West and the new emerging economic poles in the East. The conceptual discussion and the current historical process are traced to the point of locating the limits of democracy before Liberal democracy, in particular, is in danger. Given this, there is a reaffirmation of the importance of the democratic project, due to its civilizational relevance. The work explores the difficulties of its external implementation and the need for its internal consolidation, in addition, it makes a review of the importance of the legal and republican culture. Finally, the issue of quantity and quality in politics is addressed. Democracy is confirmed as the most viable political relationship for civilized coexistence.

Resumen
Objective: To understand the experiences of young adults with cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on their psycho-emotional well-being. Methodology: A qualitative case study approach, with data collected through semi-structured interviews conducted with young adults who underwent cancer treatment between March 2020 and December 2021 at a chemotherapy center in southern Brazil. The data was organized using WebQDA software and analyzed thematically. Results: The study revealed that, according to the participants, there were few changes in the oncology treatment process during the COVID-19 pandemic, and these were linked to the delay in starting treatment and delays in specialist consultations. Participants expressed concerns about contracting the virus due to the low immunity caused by cancer treatment. Additionally, strict protective measures, such as isolation, significantly affected the young adults undergoing treatment. They had to suspend their activities and distance themselves from their families, leading to negative emotional impacts. Conclusions: It can be considered that young people with cancer in the pandemic context require support from health services, particularly regarding accurate information, diagnosis, and early treatment, as delays in these processes can directly affect patient survival. Providing mental health care strategies also helps to combat both cancer and COVID-19.

Resumen
Introduction: Antenatal care is a crucial component of maternal and child health care, and one of the key players in this care in primary care is the nursing staff. Objective: To understand, through scientific evidence, what prenatal care is like performed by nurses in primary health care in Brazil. Methodology: Integrative literature review using the PICo (Population, Interest and Context) strategy to answer the question: how do nurses work in prenatal care in primary care in Brazil? The search was carried out on the CAPES Portal between July and August 2023. Data analysis, using the Bardin method, included 25 publications between 2017 and 2023. Results: The final sample of 25 articles of studies conducted in Brazil were grouped into thematic categories of analysis and indicate a performance: in multiple spaces, guided by protocols of the Ministry of Health; with reception and connection; difficulties/lack of preparation in sensitive issues; lack of knowledge of the network; and based on biomedical care. Conclusions: The role of nurses in prenatal care requires welcoming and building bonds, comprehensive care to women respecting their beliefs and particularities, and promoting a sensitive and comprehensive care practice. However, weaknesses of the service are pointed out, especially in situations of vulnerability. The nursing professional acts in prenatal care based on scientific evidence, biomedical care and with relative professional autonomy.

Resumen
Abstract: Introduction: Newborn hospitalization in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) can significantly impact the development of paternal attachment, with repercussions for newborn health and family structure. Objective: To understand how the development of paternal attachment with premature newborns occurs in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) environments during the hospitalization period. Method: This is an observational, cross-sectional study using a quantitative-qualitative approach. Data were simultaneously collected through specific instruments for characterizing participants: a quantitative instrument for assessing paternal attachment and semi-structured interviews. Statistical analysis was conducted focusing on the development of paternal attachment, and the interviews were analyzed through thematic content analysis. Results: Forty-seven fathers of newborns hospitalized in the NICU were interviewed. The analysis included five representative statements from the paternal figure, which were correlated with the obtained data. The scales used in the study did not show significant values that interfered with the development of paternal attachment. Paternal stress was more pronounced in fathers who, in some way, were unable to develop a healthy attachment with newborns. Conclusions and implications for practice: The study showed that variables such as education level, length of stay in the NICU, and municipality of residence did not negatively influence fathers who made an effort to be present throughout the process. Fathers who actively participated in newborn care in the NICU demonstrated the development of a healthy attachment.

Resumen
Introduction: The processes of health, illness, care and attention in rural contexts in Latin America are of great importance for Nursing, given the socioeconomic and political conditions that affect these territories and the challenges inherent to professional practice. This systematic review aims to analyze the development of Nursing in rural Latin American contexts based on scientific evidence from the last ten years. Method: A search was conducted in scientific databases (CINAHL Complete, Dialnet, DOAJ, Dynamed, Elsevier, Enfermería al Día, Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition, JSTOR, MEDLINE, Nursing Reference Center Plus, PubMed Central, Redalyc, SciELO, ScienceDirect, Scopus and Web of Science), using MeSH and DeCS descriptors related to Rural Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Rural Health and Community Health Agents, in English, Portuguese and Spanish. The search ended in August 2023. Results: 54 articles were identified, from which, after applying the PRISMA 2020 inclusion criteria, 9 studies focused on primary health care were selected. These were analyzed according to three categories: Responsibility of the Nursing Professional, Professional Intentionality (welfare vs. collective approach) and Propositional Characteristics for Rural Nursing. Conclusion: The conditions of the territory, the work dynamics and the standardization of rural and urban care reflect the commercialization of health, which represents a key professional challenge: reducing health inequalities in rural communities.
