Technical progress has allowed the development of increasingly powerful, fast and accurate tools, expressed in mathematical models. These are used for a more assertive and faster decision-making, lightening the individual burden of responsibility. However, these technical advances are more than just tools because what emerges from them is not simply neutral and impartial information pointing unequivocally towards the truth. In this way freedom, both individual and collective, is affected by the models and the context that encourages and sponsors these models from capitalism.

The objective of this research was to design and validate a pseudoscientific thinking scale. The study is of an instrumental type, whose sample consisted of 686 Peruvian adult participants (42% women). Regarding construct validity, an exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory (CFA) factor analysis were performed; and for reliability evidence, McDonald’s omega coefficient was used. The results of the EFA showed a unidimensional model of 8 items. The CFA presented an adequate fit, c2(20) = 35.5, CFI = .995, RMSEA = .047, SRMR = .026, TLI = .994 thus confirming the one-dimensional structure with factor loadings between the values of l = .68 and l = .86 (w = .92). Finally, the academic and social implications of this new psychometric instrument are discussed.

This article analyzes the novel Diario de Santa María by Edgardo Rivera Martínez. Critics have agreed to highlight the harmonic miscegenation as the great contribution of his work. This concept refers to the representation of a horizontal relationship between Andean and Western cultures. So, the novel would be proposing a society without social conflicts, where the portrayed societies manage to coexist peacefully and symmetrically. The analysis proposed in this article is a critique of the idea of harmonic miscegenation. Our reading is based on the category of heterogeneity of Cornejo Polar. This concept has allowed us to take a critical look at the harmonic miscegenation in Diario de Santa María. We conclude that although racism and classism do not govern the interpersonal relationships between the characters, a colonial thought does underlie the work, where European culture enjoys greater prestige in the imaginary of the main character.

The relations between History and memory are widely analyzed by different theoretical and methodological perspectives. The article is part of this movement of reflection and analyzes some meanings attributed to memory to expand the discussions about its uses for History and the teaching of History. As a methodological procedure, we resort to qualitative analysis, first through dialogue with some works considered references in the treatment of the theme. Then, the analyzes are directed to problematize the Cine Marrocos Marabá as a «sites of memory». From the reflections developed and the documents mobilized, it was possible to show the importance and the need to deconstruct the crystallized meanings —which are presented and represented— by memory to understand them as historical constructions and expand the possibilities of their uses in research and/or in the teaching of history.

The distance that separates the traditions that give rise to the Peruvian economic system and the Great Britain economic system in the 18th century lies in the depths of modern mathematical reason and the inscrutable Peruvian colonial moral conscience. Nevertheless, there are theories that propose that the scholastic probabilism has been the source from which contemporary economic probability arose. The purpose of this article is to answer negatively to this hypothesis. This research is exploratory, but the analysis of the historical and economic texts will contribute to the confrontation of the hypothesis raised from philosophical theories that are formulated. Therefore, the method that has been used is demonstrative analytical. In sum up, the colonial economy cannot be thought mathematically, as in the case of probability, but rather in moral sense, which foundation was the probabilism that flourished in the newly discovered lands.

In their most widespread texts, peruvian rock historians promote semantic ambiguities around terms as rock ’n’ roll , «nueva ola» and rock music, and leave an explanatory gap in relation to the rise of rock music in Peru. This article clarifies these ambiguities and offers an explanation to the rise of rock music in Peru. The author proposes an aestheric approach based on social functions that musicians and listeners assign to a set of musical parameters in a certain historical context. In the end, the article clarifies the meaning of the terms that designate these music genres, and shows that the rise of rock music in Peru involved the continuity of some features of the genres that preceded it, and the appearance of innovations sufficiently important as to define the birth of a new musical genre in this country.

This work is an investigation on the agency of non-human entities, in particular, of technology, through the case study of the community of collectors of CryptoPunks cryptoart. This undergoes a literature review on topics such as philosophy of technics by Simondon, Actor-Network Theory, assemblage theory by DeLanda, and accelerationism, which converge operationally in a relational view of what actants can do within an assemblage, and how cultural mutations enabled by technology are functional as vectors of acceleration for the creation of contemporary subjectivities, that are put forward to immanently overflow technocapital. The study concludes with the difficulty and complexity in localizing the agency of technology if cybernetic culture and the slavery it undergoes is not taken into account.

This text presents a brief history of the technological tools that allowed sound to be captured and manipulated, until it culminated in its contemporary digital becoming. The objective of this essay is to expose some of the most important repercussions that have occurred in musical environments from the transformation of music and sound into digital objects. For this, we will expose some of the most striking phenomena that have arisen from the organization and homogenization trends that prevail in contemporary digital tools and in streaming platforms managed by corporations. Finally, some lines of flight are outlined that, in my opinion, allow us to think of routes of musical imaginaries that experiment from other perspectives with the digital becoming of music and sound.

This article analyzes the development of the cumbia fusion (or «alternative» cumbia) scene in Lima, Peru, between 2010 and 2020. It demonstrates its impact in the change of programming criteria in big outdoor festivals, which only used to feature rock and pop bands, and now include not only this «alternative" cumbia bands, but also traditional cumbia orchestras and artists that were not accepted before. This analysis has been done primarily based on in-depth interviews with musicians and promoters of this scene, using the theoretical framework of Small (1998), Gell (1998), Straw (1991) and Bennet (2004). The career of two bands representative of this «alternative» scene, Olaya Sound System and La Nueva Invasión are used as case studies.
