This article presents a systematic review of the available software for qualitative data analysis, with the aim of identifying the most suitable one for the process of systematizing materials with pre-digital formats and composition. To this end, various exclusion criteria were applied to twenty-four qualitative analysis tools, and a systematization test was conducted to assess their advantages and limitations in managing documents of this nature. This can serve as a guide for research that uses extracontemporary documents and seeks to integrate technology into the analytical phase of qualitative research. The importance of critical reflection on the selection and use of technological tools is emphasized, as their incorporation into research processes not only transforms analysis methods but also carries ethical, methodological, and social implications.

In recent decades, the study of phraseology from a cognitive point of view has attracted great interest from researchers. Despite the published works, it is difficult to find exhaustive analyses that address the similarities and differences found between phraseological units of distant languages, such as Spanish and Chinese, whose analyses began at the beginning of the 21st century. Therefore, this research aims, on one hand, to extract the concepts underlying a bilingual corpus of 100 somatic idioms, specifically those formed with head, eye and hand, collected from various dictionaries, and on the other, to cognitively analyse these expressions with the purpose of contrasting their semantic properties and the metaphorical/metonymic mechanisms that form them. After the analysis, semantic properties and metaphorical and metonymic schemas shared by both languages are observed, although cultural differences are evident in the contrasted examples. The purpose of this study is to contribute to the development of a bilingual database that contains units belonging to different semantic fields to apply the results to other disciplines, such as Translation or Spanish as a Foreign Language.

This article examines a particular postgraduate academic genre, the thesis project. To this end, it analyzes a set of research plans written within the framework of a workshop held in a master's program in psychoanalysis at an Argentine university. It proposes, based on a qualitative design, to identify the problems that arise during their preparation. Despite the fact that this is a crucial text in the long journey of research, very few studies have examined projects written in this country. The material analyzed consists of eighty-one plans submitted between 2018 and 2022. This research determined the difficulties in the title and in the sections: introduction, problem, state of the art, theoretical framework, objectives, hypothesis, methodology, and bibliographic references related to the research design, rhetorical moves and sub-moves, and the formalities required by the institution. Addressing this type of material contributes to investigating the dynamics at stake and allows for the development of specific pedagogical designs for teaching them in courses designed for this purpose.

This paper analyzes La ruta de su evasión (1940) by Yolanda Oreamuno beyond feminist approaches, which, despite their relevance, tend to lead to oversimplified arguments that link the novel with feminine expression. In this essay the novel is assumed from a concept that in the antecedent and contemporary literature had been constituted as the basic nucleus of society: the house. The approach arises from the topology of the domestic in its process of cracking and disappearance. The house does not reveal itself as a place of welcome or protection for its members, which leads to their expulsion in forms of evasion. Nor does it offer guests the proverbial hospitality that has characterized interactions with strangers since classical antiquity. But the other strangers, foreigners, can also be hostile, as the etymology and the Greco-Latin tradition shows. This way also implies an approach to the house as a space that involves larger dimensions, such as the equivalence on a small scale with the nation.

This article investigates personal perspectives regarding several inclusive language options in Spanish. An initial survey was conducted among 109 speakers of Spanish (L1, HL, L2) and of that group, 23 individuals participated in a deeper exploration of the topic by way of personal interviews and written questions. The study identifies the most commonly recognized strategies, personal usage patterns, and experiences related to using (or not using) inclusive language. The paper analyzes qualitatively three distinct themes that arose with some frequency among the participants, which are situated in a theoretical framework of linguistic legitimation: (1) prioritizing respect and inclusion in one’s discourse for women and non-binary individuals, despite the linguistic challenges; (2) rejecting inclusive language due to a valuation of aesthetic and grammatical aspects; and (3) a self- limitation for L2 speakers who avoid advocating for inclusive language, even when they choose to use it in their own speech.

This paper refutes the hypothesis suggesting a linguistic influence of huetar on the cabécar term that designates the yellow-eared toucanet (Selenidera spectabilis). The study challenges the validity of the claim that the term has been borrowed from the huetar language by meticulously examining phonological irregularities proposed and verifying borrowability criteria. The findings refute the hypothesis, demonstrating the lack of solid evidence and questioning the social dynamics that influence linguistic adoption. The phonetic analysis reveals systematic patterns in the correspondence between the sound /d/ in Bribri and /t/ in Cabécar, which allow previously perceived irregularities to be discarded. The examination of the variant with [ɾ] offers nuanced insights, suggesting potential explanations beyond linguistic borrowing. This study contributes to a more subtle understanding of linguistic interactions, emphasizing the need for rigorous analysis in interpreting linguistic loans and phonetic correspondences.

This article examines the story of the demoness Hiḍimbā, found in five chapters of the Sanskrit epic The Mahābhārata (1.139-143). This episode highlights how a woman of lower lineage, from a Brahmanical perspective, manages to reshape the understanding of dharma by falling in love with a human despite being a demoness. Currently, Hiḍimbā’s story remains significant, as it prompts reflection on the nature of the demonic, the role of women in Indian societies, the interpretation of love, and unequal unions in a highly stratified culture. It also offers insight into how a female character can evolve and make a lasting impact despite her origins or the obstacles she faces in pursuing her goals. In this way, Hiḍimbā’s story has led to the emergence of the demon-goddess cult in the city of Manali, India.

This article presents the results of a typological-functional study of the passive voice in the Tawahka language of Honduras. The research explores, analyzes and describes in detail the structural behavior of a type of voice alternation (active-passive), that is frequently found in the natural languages of the world. In this sense, the purpose of the work is to describe the morphosyntactic structure of the passive voice of this Chibcha language belonging to the Misumalpa family. The information above mentioned shows the methodological process that the work follows, which is carried out under a functionalist approach (Givón, 1995; 2001a; 2018; Mithun, 2015), and it is related to the typological studies carried out on the passive voice at a cross-linguistic level (Givón, 2001b; Keenan & Dryer, 2007; Payne, 1997; Pickett & Elson, 1986; Shibatani, 1985, 1988). The results show that Tawahka possesses promotional passive structures, basic and non-basic, morphological, morphological- periphrastic, lexical and periphrastic.

The present study aims to describe, analyze and interpret the metonymies and metaphors present in Peruvian dessert names from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. Based on a qualitative approach, a corpus of 42 names of desserts consumed in Peru was elaborated. It was found that the predominant type of metaphor to nominate desserts was that of image; that is, there is a strong motivation to designate desserts based on their form of presentation. In addition, metonymies show how the name of a dessert can be motivated either by one of its base ingredients, by its texture, by its preparation technique (part-all). The research shows that these linguistic resources facilitate the comprehension of the gastronomic product by evoking familiar images and sensations, as well as suggesting a sensory experience to the consumer.
