This article presents a model to study media systems, political communication, and communication policies comparatively and dynamically. Based on extensive empirical work, including systematic observations and more than 60 interviews, it explores the left-turn governments of Kirchnerism in Argentina (2003-2015) and the Frente Amplio in Uruguay (2005-2020) and their conflictive relationship with the media. Despite these tensions, in Argentina there were radical changes and in Uruguay there were not. This is explained because media systems strongly conditioned the political process.

This essay examines The Adventures of China Iron (2017) by Gabriela Cabezón Cámara, focusing on the construction of identities at the margins of the clandestine—shaped by affective nomadism and errant trajectories. In the novel, the turn toward rural space, traditionally portrayed in Argentine foundational literature as a site of barbarism, violence, and abandonment, serves instead as a setting for community formation and the emergence of dissident bodies. Both the landscape and its inhabitants are transformed through a nomadism of animal, feminine, and minoritarian becomings, as the rural territory is reimagined as a space of refuge.

Starting from a redefinition of the notion of 'oral literature', this essay analyzes two versions of the myth of Jinu Potó, narrated by two members of the Embera community in Colombia. The analysis weaves together a study of the motifs with an exploration of what occurs between the act of narration. According to the thesis proposed, what happens in the course of storytelling complements the textual dimension of oral literature, condensing traces of the epistemic reconfiguration process taking place in contexts of forced displacement.

The aim of this article is to investigate the relationship between strategic embellishment and spectacularization in Cordoba city, Argentina, and the reconstruction of the urban visual culture produced through generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). The study applied an integration of qualitative and digital methods to approach a set of photorealistic images of Cordoba city created in Midjourney, aiming to analyze the visual patterns replicated through the generative AI in the level of the content and the form. The results demonstrate that the generative AI reconstruction of the digital visual culture of Cordoba city summarizes and exalts the processes of embellishment and spectacularization of urban space, while at the same time expressing the standardization of digital photography both as a practice and as a product.

This paper explores some epistemological problems recognized in the history of the development of artificial intelligence and the implications they may have for thinking and theorizing contemporary communication phenomena. From this, the idea of communication as a social production of meaning is questioned, and cybersemiotics, a transdisciplinary theory of communication, information, meaning, and cognition, is proposed as a conceptual alternative for thinking and theorizing about communication.

This paper analyzes the penetration of generative artificial intelligence in sports news. Through surveys to 20 editors and heads of the sports section of 16 Spanish media, we study how professionals make sense of this technology and the dynamics that these changes introduce in the newsrooms. The results reflect an unequal implementation. Among the advantages, sports journalists highlight the speed of their work; among the risks, the lack of contact with sources and possible inaccuracies. The lack of knowledge about the potential of AI to achieve greater efficiency and generate value-added content is evident.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the media landscape, influencing news production, consumption, and dissemination. AI algorithms support content generation, trend tracking, and fact-checking. This study examines 108 companies using AI through a documentary review and expert survey. Text generation is the most common function, while experts consider fact-checking the most useful. A geographic disparity exists, with the United States leading in AI adoption, while other regions lag. AI holds great potential for media transformation, but its inclusion remains uneven across countries.

The aim of this study is to identify and demonstrate transdisciplinarity and multimodality in the integration of media education into the content of higher education in Slovakia. The starting point is a systematic quantitative and qualitative analysis of the 305 study plans of the selected programs at the ten largest Slovak universities. The results highlight the breadth of disciplines of study as well as the multiplicity of modalities for explicitly integrating media education into the curriculum under study.
