The classic three-act narrative structure is the most widely used framework in commercial filmmaking. Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s As Bestas (2022) presents a fractured narrative skeleton, prompting our objective: to identify the type of narrative structure employed in the film. To achieve this, we developed a methodological approach based on observation, documentation, application, and comparison of key concepts related to cinematic storytelling. Our study followed four phases: analyzing the film’s timeline, identifying key structural scenes, mapping the hero’s journey stages, and determining the film’s plot type. We found that the film consists of two independent segments, each adhering to the classic three-act structure. Additionally, we observed that each segment features a different protagonist whose story follows a distinct plot --rivalry and revenge --which shapes the narrative structure of their respective sections. These characters also follow different dramatic paths within the hero’s journey. Thus, we conclude that As Bestas effectively doubles its narrative structure, driven by a shift in protagonist. The two narrative segments are independent, capable of standing alone, yet when viewed together, they add deeper layers of meaning to the story.

In the age of misinformation, stakeholders are increasingly skeptical of companies’ claims of social and environmental commitments. The rise of greenwashing andother deceptive communication techniques, has reduced consumer and other stakeholders’ confidence. This study examines how public relations consultancies (PR) operating in Spain develop the communication of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ESG criteria. The main objectives are to analyze the evolution of CSR in recent years, identify key characteristics of CSR communication, and to discover the specialized CSR services offered by PR agencies. A qualitative methodology has been applied based on semi-structured in-depth interviews with CSR specialists working in PR consultancies operating in Spain (n = 9). Findings indicate that effective CSR communication enhances an organization’s credibility, image, and reputation --provided it is honest, aligned with company actions, and integrated throughout the organization rather than limited to isolated initiatives. Two-way communication is also essential. Beyond preparing sustainability reports and applying specific techniques, PR agencies serve as advisors when creating narratives around ESG strategies.

In a context where misinformation has flooded our society—particularly through its spread on social media—the strategic use of these platforms within the discipline of public relations by public institutions can engage citizens and position them as a trusted source of truth. This study examines how Spain’s regional institutions use social media, highlighting the predominance of the public information model in institutional communication. The findings reveal a largely one-way flow of communication, lacking the symmetrical bidirectionality that would enable both institutions and citizens to engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering mutual influence and deeper understanding. Such an approach could enhance the visibility of institutional profiles among the public and, consequently, strengthen their influence in contexts where external misinformation may arise.

This article explores how digital platforms have become central to the creation and dissemination of political narratives that influence the construction of individual and collective identities. Using a mixed approach that combines critical theory and discourse analysis, this paper examines the triad of cyberspace, social media, and international relations. Utilizing data science-based collection and analysis techniques, it analyses social listening on the #SinMiedo case. The findings show that the expansion of digital technologies has led to greater complexity in political analysis and international relations, especially in the elicitation of feelings of social dissatisfaction. While cyberspace offers opportunities for inclusive political participation, it also poses significant challenges to social cohesion and democratic stability. The article reveals how the interplay between political narrative and subjectivity in cyberspace redefines traditional power structures, favouring new non-state actors in shaping public opinion.

School and Educational Psychology is a strategic field for enhancing student learning and development. In Brazil, Law No. 13.935/2019 mandated the presence of psychologists and social workers in public school systems, but its implementation has faced significant obstacles. This study aimed to map the integration and distribution of school psychologists within Bahia’s public basic education network, examining their allocation, hiring modalities, working hours, remuneration, and coverage indicators in order to assess the level of the law’s implementation. This is a descriptive and documentary study, with data collected in 2024. The sources consulted included official websites of INEP, IFBA, IFBAIANO, Official Gazettes, Transparency Portals of Bahia’s municipalities, and the Court of Accounts of the Municipalities of Bahia. Data were tabulated and analyzed through descriptive statistics with the support of MaxQDA software. The results reveal an alarming scenario: only 104 of the 417 municipalities in Bahia (24.9%) had at least one school psychologist in the public system, totaling 222 professionals. On average, there was one psychologist for every 12,727 students and one for every 58 schools. Furthermore, evidence indicated inadequate working conditions and remuneration, with limited implementation of Law No. 13.935/2019, characterized by a shortage of professionals, unstable contracts, and the undervaluation of School Psychology. The study highlights the urgent need for public tenders, structured policies, and improved working conditions to ensure the right to comprehensive education and to strengthen the role of psychology in Bahia’s public school network.

Narcofictions emerged in Latin America (specifically Mexico and Colombia) in the early 1980s, in a context marked by political instability and corruption. It wasn’t until the rise of streaming platforms that the genre became a global phenomenon. This article examines the evolution of narcofictions over the past forty years and explores the reasons behind their success and widespread appeal. To compile and categorize existing titles, a mixed-methods approach is used --both quantitative and qualitative --based on a systematic, comprehensive, explicit, and reproducible methodology grounded in the SALSA framework: Search, Appraisal, Synthesis, and Analysis, with clearly defined criteria. The study finds that biopics are the most common format, especially those focused on figures like Pablo Escobar and Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. These portrayals construct narratives of collective memory through personal recollections that transcend individual experiences. The involvement of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent is often used to justify foreign intervention in Latin American politics. Since 2005, there has been a noticeable shift in female character roles, evolving from secondary figures to protagonists, notably with the international success of the Colombian series Sin senos no hay paraíso. However, despite their presence in positions of power, traditional gender roles continue to be reinforced, with motherhood frequently portrayed as both a central goal and a vulnerability for these characters.

The new cycle of television fiction in Spain, which has remarkable media and audience repercussions beyond its borders, is motivated by the implementation and subsequent development of subscription platforms (Subscription Video on Demand, SVOD) in this country. As a result, fiction series now play the role of cultural framework, on which most of the national identities are based. Thanks to a radical change in the media landscape, these television productions have become evident frames of reference for contemporary society. Starting from this scenario, this article studies the keys to the success of Spanish serials that, since the implementation of platforms such as Netflix, have increased their international projection. For this purpose, a double work methodology is presented: the detailed study of sources is followed by in-depth interviews with active professionals of Spanish fiction. The experts indicate as growth drivers: the competitiveness of productions in terms of quality and invoice, the low production cost, the geolocation of the country, the language, the ability to tell universal stories, and creative freedom.

This exploratory and descriptive research characterizes web series based on the case of Colombia, where such products are promoted by regulations, funding programs, and festivals, and are created by audiovisual industries, educational centers, government agencies, and fans. After identifying 241 web series on YouTube produced during the first two decades of the century, we analyzed aspects of content, format, publication, quality, and implementation through an ad-hoc matrix. Its main results show that Colombian web series: 1) are produced in a similar way by professionals and amateurs; 2) vary in duration, number of episodes, and number of seasons; 3) are usually comedies and dramas about childhood, adolescence, or family aimed at a young audience, and 4) are produced in urban centers where the audiovisual industry has traditionally been based and are used by educational centers to compete in the audiovisual market as peripheral agents. These findings contribute to the growing body of academic knowledge regarding fiction content created exclusively for the Internet.

In mid-20th-century Spain, during the postwar era, two generations—one literary and the other cinematic—made the denunciation of the harsh living conditions of the working class the core of their creative work. This article, through the tools of historiography and film analysis, examines in detail a film where several formal and thematic concerns of both generations converge: boxing as an illusory means of escape from a socially impoverished environment, the construction of a fierce realist sociopolitical discourse, and the embrace of a new artistic language born from the blending of native cultural traditions with the formal innovations that, little by little, began to filter in from abroad.
