Resumen
Introduction: Subcutaneous pseudocysts are serous, liquid and sterile collections with a diameter above 10 cm. Objective: To present the clinical case of a patient with a subcutaneous pseudocyst secondary to an incisional hernioplasty with non-absorbable mesh.Clinic Case: A 36-year-old female patient with morbid obesity and a history of polycystic ovary syndrome, chronic iron deficiency anemia and multiple abdominal surgeries came to the clinic with pain in a giant, medium, infraumbilical incisional hernia. Incisional hernioplasty with placement of supra-aponeurotic mesh was performed. In the second month after surgery, she consulted for an increase in volume in the wound. Complementary tests were performed and a subcutaneous pseudocyst was diagnosed. Initially, the procedure was drained with a pigtail. When this line of treatment failed due to infection of the pseudocyst, complete excision was performed with placement of suction drains. Conclusion: The subcutaneous pseudocyst is a rare entity due to its very low incidence and the difficulties in its diagnosis.

Resumen
Introduction: Peritoneal carcinomatosis or carcinosis is defined as the localized or generalized spread, either metastatic or primary, of a wide variety of intra-abdominal tumors throughout the peritoneum.
Objective: To present a patient with peritoneal carcinomatosis secondary to appendiceal mucocele.
Clinical Case: A male patient was admitted to the oncology clinic after undergoing appendicitis surgery 6 months earlier, with appendiceal mucocele histology. Examination revealed peritoneal and omental carcinomatosis, a finding confirmed at the surgical intervention. He recovered without complications and remains on chemotherapy.
Conclusions: Peritoneal carcinomatosis is a complex and difficult-to-treat oncological disease, with a life expectancy of 3 to 6 months in the case of significant complications that compromise quality of life. However, it sometimes presents in an unusual or asymptomatic manner and is diagnosed through advanced imaging studies, complementary tests, and exploratory surgical procedures.

Resumen
Introduction: Acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) is a significant cause of in-hospital morbidity and mortality. The in-hospital mortality rate of patients who, after requiring mechanical ventilation (MV) in the intensive care unit (ICU), are discharged to a general ward remains unknown.
Objective: To determine in-hospital mortality in patients discharged from the ICU who required MV for at least 24 hours.
Methods: A case series study was conducted on AECOPD episodes requiring MV for at least 24 hours. The analyzed variables included age, sex, skin color, cause of AECOPD, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE II) score, airway management, MV duration, pre-ICU stay, ICU stay, readmission, post-ICU stay, and discharge outcome. A descriptive analysis of the variables was performed. The chi-square test of independence was used, followed by binary logistic regression analysis, and finally, classification effectiveness was evaluated using a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.
Results: The study included 49 patients discharged from the ICU to a conventional ward. 15 patients died (30.6%), while 34 survived (69.4%). It was found that an APACHE-II score > 15 upon ICU admission (p< 0.001) and having Black skin (p= 0.007) were associated with worse in-hospital outcomes.
Conclusions: Patients with AECOPD demonstrated higher in-hospital mortality following ICU discharge compared to mortality during intensive care. The study identified key predictors of post-ICU mortality.

Resumen
Introduction: Scientific and technical development has fostered the use of chemicals. Chemical accidents can occur during transportation, storage, and use due to human error or natural causes.
Objective: To characterize the patients affected by the chemical accident resulting from the fire at the Matanzas supertanker base.
Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study of a series of 27 acutely poisoned patients was conducted. Medical records were reviewed. The following variables were studied: sex, age, personal medical history, clinical manifestations, and treatment with hyperbaric oxygenation. Absolute and relative frequencies were used as summary measures.
Results: Males predominated (70.3%), and ages ranged from 31 to 40 years (37.03%). High blood pressure was the most common personal medical history; cigarettes/tobacco predominated among toxic habits. Mild clinical symptoms were observed in most patients. 7.4% of the subjects received hyperbaric oxygen treatment.
Conclusions: Patients with acute carbon monoxide poisoning were male, young adults, and presented mild symptoms associated with exposure to the toxic gas.

Resumen
Introduction: Dengue is a highly prevalent disease, largely due to the resistance of its vector, Aedes aegypti, to synthetic insecticides. Therefore, medicinal plants emerge as a promising alternative for its control.
Objective: To describe information on the bioinsecticidal potential of medicinal plants for the control of Aedes aegypti.
Methods: A review was conducted in Scielo, Lilacs, Dialnet and Scopus, using the terms “larvicidal activity” OR “biocidal activity” OR “insecticidal activity” AND “Aedes aegypti”. Only original articles from the last 5 years with open access, in Spanish and English, were selected.
Development: The use of extracts and essential oils from medicinal plants in the control of Aedes aegypti is highlighted, which evaluate the vector at different stages. Phytochemical compounds, such as terpenes, sesquiterpenes and phenolic compounds, showed high bioinsecticidal efficacy, supported by mortality rates and relevant lethal concentrations. The synergistic action between these components positions medicinal plants as sustainable alternatives to conventional insecticides. Although the results are based on in vitro studies, they consolidate a scientific basis for the development of ecological vector control strategies.
Conclusions: Medicinal plants represent a promising resource for the control of Aedes aegypti, with evidence of their effectiveness and sustainability. However, their application in field conditions needs to be validated for integration into vector control programmes.

Resumen
Introduction: Regular physical activity is an important factor to maintain a good nutritional status, which contributes to the prevention of non-communicable diseases.
Objectives: Determine the relationship between nutritional status, lipid profile and physical activity in an adult population.
Methods: Cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study, in an adult population of patients between 18 and 59 years old. The study variables were the following: body mass index, abdominal circumference, lipid profile (triglycerides, total cholesterol, low-density lipoproteins, high-density lipoproteins) and physical activity. To determine the difference between both sexes, the Student t test was used and for correlation tests, Spearman's Rho was used.
Results: Of the patients studied, 66% and 73% were overweight and obese according to body mass index and waist circumference respectively. Regarding the lipid profile, elevated triglycerides were found in 60.8%, total cholesterol in 56.7% and low-density lipoproteins in 49.5%, while 63% showed low lipoproteins high density. The inverse correlation coefficient was moderate or high in all variables, except high-density lipoproteins.
Conclusions: Physical activity is related to body mass index, abdominal perimeter and lipid profile in adults.

Resumen
Introduction: Dental transposition is the change of position between 2 or more teeth in the dental arch and is an anomaly that is generally not treated, due to the complexity of relocating the affected tooth.
Objective: To show another alternative for the treatment of dental transposition, through the presentation of a clinical case.
Clinical case: A 10-year-old patient with a wide central diastema, caused by oligodontia of the lateral teeth. The treatment included an initial phase to close the central diastema with chain elastomers, which caused unwanted movements in the root, which forced the treatment to be reconsidered. Subsequently, 5 phases were carried out; the second one stood out: construction of a combined arch with an open spring, to relocate the 23 in transposition, in its position in the arch. After 2 and a half years, the spaces of the missing teeth were closed with the remaining ones. The creation of an arch that allowed repositioning tooth 23, in addition to the movements of said tooth, by vestibular means, is highlighted.
Conclusions: It was possible to achieve dental alignment, location of tooth 2.3 with its orthodontic transposition, which offers a different alternative to the problem treated.
