Introduction: Colorectal cancer is a growing health problem in the world, the increase in the life expectancy of populations, the continuous improvement of screening techniques and the active search for cases, are the reasons why an increase in the global number of cases diagnosed with cancer is reported each year. Objective: To characterize the patients operated on for colorectal cancer treated with adjuvant chemotherapy. Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out in patients seen at the multidisciplinary colorectal cancer clinic. The universe was made up of all the patients who attended the consultation in that period, the sample at the authors' criteria was made up of 55 patients treated with adjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal cancer. The primary source of the investigation was given by the clinical history. Results: Regarding the relationship between sex and age, a higher frequency was observed in the group of 70-79 years and in the female sex. Regarding the topographic location, there was a predominance in the sigmoid colon with 33 patients for 60% of the sample studied. The moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma histological variant was the one with the highest presentation. Patients in stage IIIa of the disease were more frequent. The most frequently used chemotherapy regimen was Folfox. Conclusions: In the sample, most of the patients were included in the age group between 70-79 years of age. The most frequent topographic location was the sigmoid colon and the histological type was moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. Patients in stage IIIa predominated and the most widely used adjuvant chemotherapy treatment was the Folfox regimen. Introduction: As of the present moment many studies have evidenced a decline in the quality of the human semen and an incremented risk masculine sub-fertility. Objective: To evaluate the association's grade of the morphologic and functional changes of the spermatozoa with the risk factors in the masculine infertility. Methods: A descriptive transverse study was carried out in the 123 patients with alterations in the spermogram attended in the Territorial Center of Attention to the Infertile Couple in Holguín in the year 2021, and that fulfilled the established criteria of inclusion and exclusion. The information was gotten from the revision of the case histories and the realization of a questionnaire. Spearman's correlation to identify the relation between the studied variables was used. Results: The teratozoospermia was the morphofunctional change that predominated with 69 cases (56.09 %), being more frequent in the age bracket of 30 to 39 years (22 for a 76 %), the exposition to temperatures raised with 19.51 % and the varicocele with a 43.9 %. The malnutrition for excess and teratozoospermic in 44 patients evidenced a bigger association in the correlation of the studied variables. Conclusions: The evaluation of the changes allowed morphologic and functional of spermatozoa knowing a predominance of the related to the morphology. Risk factors like an age older than 30 years, the malnutrition for excess, the exposition to loud temperatures and the varicocele correlate to the masculine infertility. Introduction: Physical inactivity in adolescents is one of the current problems that has gained relevance, due to the fact that research projects unhealthy lifestyle habits in adulthood in this age group. For this reason, public and private instances seek to break this bad practice. The aforementioned, stimulates research on the actors that interact continuously with adolescents, in such a way that motivates them to enter an environment that promotes physical activities. Objective: To evaluate the impact of social models that influence the performance of physical activities and the health of secondary school students in the Dominican Republic. Methods: The present study was carried out based on a cross-sectional, descriptive quantitative approach by means of a survey, using non-probabilistic sampling by convenience, due to the availability shown by the population under study when filling out the instrument. The population consisted of 777 students, who provided information on the rate of physical activity and social models that influence its practice. The International Student Lifestyle Questionnaire was used in the research. Results: The data obtained show high levels of sedentary lifestyles, exceeding 83% in both sexes, with a greater presence in women. Regarding the social models that contribute to the practice of physical activity, parents and friends are reaffirmed as the most influential. Conclusions: There are high levels of sedentary adolescent boys and girls contrasted with the positive influence they receive from parents and friends for the practice of physical activity, which can be used with the aim of creating projects that encourage the practice of physical-sports activities and contribute to the prevention of non-communicable diseases. Introduction: There is a lack of consensus among experts on the clinical symptoms and conceptualization of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that affects thinking, emotions, and behavior. The etiology of the disease is not well defined. Objective: To characterize adult schizophrenic patients admitted to the institution. Methods: Descriptive study was carried out for characterization of the hospitalized adult with schizophrenia taking into account age and sex, physical independence, behavior, cognition, affectivity, positive and negative symptoms and level of rehabilitation. It was worked with an intentional sample consisting of adults diagnosed with schizophrenia admitted to the hospital, in the period from 2018 to 2022, with a minimum of six months of hospital stay, n = 64. Results: The predominant sex was male 62.5%, minimum dependent physical independence with 51.57%, affected exponent with greater representativeness was cognition in 100%, disorganization of thought and affective blunting stand out with 100 and 87.69% respectively, with the most preponderant rehabilitation level being level 4 for 29.23%. Conclusions: The proper characterization of patients with schizophrenia hospitalized in the Provincial Teaching Psychiatric Hospital of Sancti Spíritus, facilitates the work aimed at promoting social relationships through actions that improve their health status. One in seven patients with schizophrenia can achieve functional recovery if adequate comprehensive rehabilitation is available. Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases claim more lives in the United States than all forms of cancer and chronic lower respiratory diseases combined; and represent 3/4 of the causes of hospitalization in first world countries. Of these, acute myocardial infarction occupies the majority figures. Objective: To identify some clinical-echocardiographic and therapeutic variables associated with the presence of complications of acute myocardial infarction lower topography. Methods: A retrospective, analytical, case-control study was carried out in patients diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction lower topography, clinical, echocardiographic and therapeutic variables were taken. To determine the prognostic factors of mortality, a binary logistic regression model multivariate analysis was used. Results: Age ≥ 65 years which represented 23.93 % of the total, having p value = 0.032 (p ≤ 0.05), 54 % of cases or patients with complications are due to no thrombolytic treatment, a binary logistic regression was performed where variables such as; age ≥ 65 years, non-use of thrombolytic therapy, LVEF < 50% and TDI RV < 9.5 cm/s were more likely to present complications in patients with lower topography infarction. Conclusions: Age ≥65 years, female sex, depressed left and right ventricle function correlate with the presence of complications in acute myocardial infarction of lower topography. Introduction: Liquid-based cytology is a method that can contribute to the early identification of microscopic changes in the uterine cervix that can progress to malignancy, by reducing the number of unsatisfactory samples compared to conventional cytology. Objective: To analyze the microscopic characteristics identified by liquid-based cytology of the uterine cervix in women treated at the Student Welfare Unit of the Technical University of Manabí, Ecuador. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective and quantitative study was carried out where the sociodemographic, microbiological and histological characteristics collected in the medical records of 132 women who participated in the Pap smear campaign carried out during June 2019 were analyzed. Results: The age range that prevailed was 19 to 33 years who lived in urban areas, 64% of women began their sexual life before or at 18 years of age. The microbiological findings showed the presence of coccoid flora in 50% and 100% of the samples showed adequate quality. The cytological study presented, according to the Bethesda system, 75% of negative samples, with 13% low-grade IEL and 11% ASCUS. The background of the mild inflammatory smears was present in 52%, the history of previous positive cytology in 34% was more than three. All of the samples were useful. No relationship was found between the presence of intraepithelial lesion and the age of the patients (p=0.3076). Conclusions: CBL can ensure a higher quality of histological diagnosis by guaranteeing a greater number of useful samples.
