This article explores how Federico García Lorca’s interest in popular and traditional poetry facilitated the poet’s incursion into the “avant-garde” style with which Poeta en Nueva York is usually identified. An analysis of “El rey de Harlem”, “Pequeño vals vienés”, and “Son de negros en Cuba” attempts to show that, far from practicing “free” verse, García Lorca’s poems are guided by rhythmic considerations established by resources such as accent, phonetic range, syllabic patterns, verbal tenses, syntactic structures and rhetorical figures of repetition.

In addition to his well known poetry, Quevedo produced an extensive number of prose works, ranging from short narratives to extensive treatises. He held very clear ethical, political and aesthetic convictions, and in order to understand his thought, his varied prose work has to be considered as an integrated whole. The present text offers a brief survey of his complete prose works in editions from 1648 through to 2020.

This paper is an action research result which emphasizes on the process from academic reading and writing training, targeted to scientists-teachers in Geoscience (Universidad Nacional de Río Negro, Argentina), into transferences to educational practices. The research was focused on questioning the teachers´ approaches about formation, the educational practice and the reflection on critical reading and pragma-dialectic argumentation included in their subjects. The categories were: perspectives in disciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching, critical formation as teaching objective, feedback as a regulation mean of pedagogical practices and teaching evolution by means of their practices. Techniques were focus groups, interviews, and teachers´ practice stories. As a main result, the positive change in scientists-teachers regarding teaching, their incursion on the didactic design with some methodology steps and the reflexive practice stand out.

Socioemotional competences in schools serve as protective factors for mental health, enhance academic outcomes, and contribute to a positive school climate. However, the impact of these competences on adolescents with autism, who experience specific challenges in communication and social interaction, remains unclear. The objective of this review is to explore the existing literature on interventions aimed at developing socioemotional competences in adolescents within the autism spectrum, focusing on their characteristics and effectiveness within the context of inclusive education challenges. The PRISMA method was employed, resulting in the selection of seven articles from a pool of 158 texts examined across four databases. The findings indicate a predominance of small effect sizes, sample sizes below 30, and a frequency of two sessions per week for periods of approximately 15 weeks.

The objective of this research was to assess the participation promoted by Environmental Education professionals, using taxonomies derived from studies conducted with adults, children, and adolescents. A total of 98 individuals working in this field in Chile were involved through an online survey, and thematic content analysis and descriptive statistical analyses were performed. Their responses were associated with four adultcentric discursive positions and three infantocentric positions, and profiles were created for each group based on other study variables. It was identified that individuals with infantocentric positions tend to be more critical of their practice, have more years of experience in the field, and generally work as environmental activists or communicators. Based on the findings, this study provides insights for the development of more sophisticated instruments for measuring participation and concludes with aspects that should be further explored or addressed in future evaluations.

Interpersonal communication in clinical practice affects patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and the well-being of healthcare staff. However, the need to incorporate communication skills into healthcare personnel training remains an unresolved issue. This qualitative case study aims to understand the challenges faced by a group of Dentistry students in managing communication with patients, as well as to explore their perceptions regarding their initial experience with interpersonal communication training. Data is collected through participant observation, narratives, and in-depth interviews, and processed using content analysis. The students' challenges include maintaining boundaries, handling empathy, and persuading patients to comply with treatment. They report changes in their communication with patients, which they attribute to their participation in the training experience.

Teacher research has become a duty, a responsibility, and a challenge in educational practice. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the purposes and conditions for implementing research in teaching and initial training in Chile and Colombia within educational policies. Framed in a qualitative approach, a documentary analysis was carried out, in which 11 documents were reviewed. The results showed that in both countries, as a teacher responsibility, it is important to research their practice and the discipline they teach, as well as to promote the development of research skills in students at all levels of the education system. In Colombia, the conditions for encouraging teacher research are mentioned in more detail, while in Chile, the action of researching is not deeply explored, but reflection and innovation are highlighted.

The finishing quality of wood products depends on the material's surface and its intrinsic properties. Dynamic wettability is a simple and efficient way to understand the behavior of materials related to solid-liquid interactions according to theoretical and practical perspectives. Thus, we sought to investigate the wettability of imbuia (Ocotea spp.), red oak (Quercus spp.), and pine (Pinus elliottii) woods and its effects before and after sanding. Through the sessile drop technique, we evaluated contact angle and work of adhesion. Sanding changed the samples’ surface quality due to the decrease in contact angle and the increase in the work of adhesion. In addition, the droplet spreading and adsorption observed on the surface of the woods are an indicator of wettability. Pine and red oak had their dynamic contact angle reduced by up to 43 %. However, imbuia was less susceptible to the effects of sanding, since it was found to be a more hydrophobic species; thus, this wood has a more stable surface in terms of dynamic wettability. This may be a result of the effect of low molecular weight compounds on the surface of imbuia wood. The preparation of the wood surface depends on a synergy between the finishing processes and the chemical composition of the surface. Therefore, the results found can indicate which coatings are more suited to these woods.

The production of wood-based materials is currently being expanded by the furniture industry and civil construction sector. In order to find new alternatives for the panel market, new configuration possibilities (geometry) of panels and the use of renewable raw materials must be explored. In this scope, the objective of this research was to evaluate OSB sandwich panels with an undulated core and flat faces (OSBUC panels) made of Balsa wood waste strands (Ochroma pyramidale) bonded with two-component castor oil polyurethane resin for use in civil construction. Two types of panels were produced with 13 % resin and varying the density of the core (OSBUC-T1 - faces 550 kg/m³ and core 400 kg/m³) and (OSBUC-T2 - faces 550 kg/m³ and core 500 kg/m³). The water absorption and thickness swelling of the face panels were determined based on the Brazilian standard NBR 14810 and the bending test properties of the OSBUC panels determined by the recommendations of the ASTM C393 standard. The results obtained were compared with the specifications of the PS-2-10 –“Performance Standard for Wood-Based Structural-Use Panels” that provides bending stiffness (EI) values and maximum bending moment (FbS) requirements for OSB panels according to different classes of use. The sandwich panels had maximum values of EI 6,48 x 106 N·mm²/mm and FbS 3065 N·mm/mm. The OSBUC-T1 treatment proved to be the most efficient, as it has mechanical properties that meet the normative recommendations for structural use and as flooring, with lower material consumption (lower density).
