This article proposes a contextualization of geocriticism studies within the framework of theoretical approaches on the abstraction process that take place in literary language. Methodologically contextualised within the frame of thestudies on Cognitive Literary Theory the article argues that the study of emotions expression in landscape representations can help us to better understand the way in which human imagination works. In its analytical level, the study approaches the works Gisements de lumière (1998), and La Douleur des seuils (2002), by Amina Saïd (Tunis, 1953), in which the formalization of the landscape motivates a cognitive analysis of poetic language. Since literature has both axiological and biological values, this study explores the idea that emotions are involved in our abstract understanding of the world, while simultaneously considering a theoretical path for a Cognitive Aesthetics of Literature.

This article aims at describing the different uses of the adverb simplement in contemporary French. Four uses are distinguished, based on semantic and syntactic criteria. The proposed semantic description has two main objectives: (i) to differentiate simplement from its synonyms (seulement and mais) and (ii) to highlight the common points between the different uses of simplement in order to eventually propose a unitary model of its semantic functioning. Throughout the study, a particular place is given to the commutation criterion: we wonder what its validity is in semantics and what problems it is likely to pose.

With this work, we propose to study the word fin outside its usual contexts, either as a temporal and/or notional marker. On the one hand, our aim is to analyse how fin became a pragmatic marker by trying to trace, in a succinct way, its evolution through the stages of grammaticalisation. On the other hand, we will show that there has been a passage from grammaticalisation to pragmaticalisation. In today's spoken French, fin assumes other values than the traditional ones of temporal and notional. The study will be based on retranscribed oral utterances and on written utterances, forms close to oral, notably messages in contemporary French. Our corpus comes from the CLAPI and 88milSMS databases. 

The reccurence and recursivity in the novel Empire of angels as the means of creation of polyisotopic coherent discourse are manifested at intra- and intertextual levels revealing the author’s creative faculties and idiostylistic peculiarities. The intratextual reccurence is actualized in the form of stylistic figures and intratextemes with the aim to emphatically mark one referent, the gradation of the intensity of emotions or to avoid the reintroduction of the identical intratexteme intra- and / or interphrasally. The recursive organization of the novel is realized intra- and intertextually by way of symbols, of the model « book in the book », of (self-)recursif protagonists. Some objects and characters are reccurent-recursif which testifies to the intertwining and the interpenetration of two phenomena of iteration in the same literary work.

This paper aims to demonstrate that the discursive operators alors (in French) and entonces (in Spanish) can receive quite different semantic interpretations depending on the context in which they appear. Because of that specific feature of these operators, we consider it necessary to establish, at the very first step, some formal criteria which make it possible to distinguish temporal and deductive values of alors and entonces. We will first present the criteria that can be found in some previous studies, then we will attempt to propose a standardization of the criteria.

The aim of our paper is to provide a diachronic description of the evolution of the discourse marker visons voir. We will propose a distributional and semantic analysis of voyons voir from its first appearance at the end of the 16th century until the 21st century. We will pay particular attention to the term voir, which has often been understood as the verb of perception, whereas in the Middle Ages this same term could correspond to the adverb « vrai ». We will explore different hypotheses to determine the origin of the marker.

We approach the study of the lexical unit j'aimerais dire, in the theoretical framework of linguistic polyphony. This tool allows us to distinguish two semantic values ​​with the same discursive strategy of attenuation. Two different mechanisms allow attenuation: the first corresponds to an attenuation conveyed by a hypothetical construction, in which j'aimerais dire constitutes the apodosis of an implicit protasis; for the second, we are not dealing with a hypothetical construction conditional but rather an attenuation conditional. The proposed structures, in which the two semantic entities are inserted – in deep structure – are respectively: j'aimerais dire X, si Y, and puisque Y, j'aimerais dire X. This work aims at providing an anlysis of the French marker quand même, a very common one in contemporary French. The first part of the study is devoted to an inventory of the different uses of the marker, based upon examples taken from several corpora. The second part intends to caracterise each use by means of detectable properties such as the possibility of parentheticals, prosody, etc. The third and fourth parts provide a general model for concession within the framework of instructional semantics and offers a unitary description of QM as a marker of opposition, being the concession one type of opposition among others. The last part focus on specific problems such as the multiple voiced strategy due to QM .

This article aims to propose an analysis’ model for the interjection “Oh” which would refute some of the presuppositions carried by this category (emotivity, non-intentionalité, etc.) By using (mostly English) contemporary conversational’s analysis’ methods on a large Middle French corpus, we build a model based on objectives parameters which will encompass all occurrences. It will thus appears that the uses of “Oh” hinges around the autonomous/responsive variable, and that this interjection can be uttered to state the epistemic position of the speaker at a given time.

Dictionaries and linguistic literature classify déjà as an adverb pf time, considering that its meaning is linked to the notion of « precocity », but they also recognize an interrogative use that would manifest a momentary forgetfulness, and another use would be added in which this lexical unit would refer to a « partial result », among others. Here it is proposed to describe the various values of déjà as semantic entities pf the same lexical unit, applying a semantic-pragmatic perspective that takes polyphony into account. These semantic entities would have a common trait, the anteriority, and would respond to a particular treatment of this anteriority (temporary or enunciative), thus allowing the various uses of déjà to be characterized based on specific linguistic properties.
