Resumen
The new generation of high-performance hydraulic concrete (HPC), known as ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), is being evaluated at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in McLean, Virginia, USA. The Center for Structural Laboratory is assessing two prestressed concrete slabs made with UHPC, in accordance with the tests specified by AASHTO Type II. These tests aim to evaluate the structural performance of the slabs in correlation with the performance of UHPC.

In high-sloped terrains or in situations where, due to safety concerns or the inherent risks of excavations, the use of conventional retaining walls is not feasible, the implementation of special solutions becomes essential. Among these solutions, notable examples include piled diaphragm walls, slope reinforcement using soil nailing, anchored concrete walls, and gravity or cantilever walls that are either anchored or founded on piles.

This paper primarily aims to provide a solution to the issue of performing the static penetration test on geotextiles, through the implementation of low-cost techniques and the adaptation of existing equipment available in laboratories or road research centers.
To set the context for the reader, we will begin with a brief definition of geotextile, outline the types available on the market, describe the tests that must be carried out on these materials, and highlight the importance of the static penetration test.
Finally, we will discuss in detail the adaptation of the equipment for the proper execution of the test and share the initial experiences carried out at our research center.

In the pursuit of a National Development strategy, it is important to recognize that there is no developed country in the world without an excellent road network. Therefore, this must be considered a necessary—though not sufficient—condition for development.
The course and progress of National Development are shaped by political, economic, social, environmental, and international variables, the latter now amplified by globalization processes. However, despite the wide range of influencing factors, few have as drastic an impact as the quality of road infrastructure.
