Resumen
Objetive: Determine the risk factors associated with preeclampsia in patients treated in the Gynecology-obstetrics service of the Regional Hospital of Ica in 2022. Material and methods: An analytical, observational, cross-sectional and retrospective study was carried out. Pregnant women with preeclampsia (Cases=91) and without preeclampsia (Controls=91) were included in the study. The data were obtained by reviewing medical records. The chi square was used, with p≤0.005, odds ratio and a 95% confidence interval. Results: Factors associated with preeclampsia were found such as: Age ≥ 35 years (p=0.014; OR=2.605; 95% CI=1.189-5.706), being single (p=0.047; OR=2.083; 1.002-4.333), without education (p=0.030; OR=2.430; 95% CI=1.072-5.507), rural origin (p=0.000; OR=3.248; 95% CI=1.692-6.236), being obese (p=0.017; OR=2.494; 95% CI=1.164-5.343), diabetes mellitus II (p=0.681; OR=1.184; 95% CI=0.528-2.654), Arterial hypertension (p=0.023; OR=3.022; 95% CI=1.125-8.120), polycystic ovary syndrome (p=0.168; OR=1.737; 95% CI=0.788-3.828), history of preeclampsia (p=0.000; OR=10.157; 95% CI=4.020-25.622), nulliparity (p=0.001; OR=2.817; 95% CI=1.544-5.140), multiple pregnancy (p=0.009; OR=3.493; 95% CI=1.317-9.265), polyhydramnios (p=0.001; OR=5.363; 95% CI=1.737). -16.555), short interpregnancy interval (p=0.000; OR=5.627; 95% CI=2.421-13.081) and gestational age less than 37 weeks (p=0.019; OR=2.120; 95% CI=1.129-3.981). Conclusion: The presence of preeclampsia in pregnant women is associated with risk factors such as age ≥ 35 years, being single, without education, rural origin, being obese, high blood pressure, with a history of preeclampsia, nulliparity, multiple pregnancy, polyhydramnios, short interpregnancy interval and a gestational age < 37 weeks.

Resumen
Sepsis is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in critically ill patients, and its definition has evolved from the initial concept of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) to the current one based on organ dysfunction as measured by the SOFA scale. Despite improvements in diagnosis and management, challenges persist due to variability in host response and antimicrobial resistance. This work was based on a non-systematic literature search in databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, Embase and MEDLINE, using key terms related to sepsis and focusing on relevant original studies and systematic reviews published between 1994 and 2024. Translational medicine has identified key biomarkers such as sTREM-1, Ang-2/Ang-1, and procalcitonin, which have demonstrated utility in early diagnosis, monitoring therapeutic response, and risk stratification in patients with sepsis. Promising therapies include PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors, thymosin alpha 1 (Tα1), and extracellular vesicles of mesenchymal stem cells (EV-MSCs), which seek to modulate the dysregulated inflammatory response and preserve organ function. The future of sepsis management lies in the implementation of rapid diagnostic tools and personalized therapies that optimize clinical outcomes, highlighting the need for a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach.

Resumen
The case of a 53-year-old male patient, a worker and farmer, who suffered a work accident, being crushed by a concrete block, which resulted in a serious injury to his right leg, is presented. After the evaluation and diagnosis of severe neurovascular compromise, it was decided to perform a Syme-type amputation. Despite initial surgical intervention, the patient developed postoperative wound necrosis, requiring additional transtibial surgery. The case highlights the complications associated with Syme amputation, which, although a valid option in emergency situations, can present significant postsurgical difficulties, such as infections and necrosis. This report highlights the importance of multidisciplinary management of postoperative follow-up, monitoring of complications; It is possible to improve both the functionality and quality of life of the patient. Future research will deal with intelligent external prostheses, with the use of artificial neural networks and electromyographic signals, with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

Resumen
A 67-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital emergency room, accompanied by her family member: her daughter reported that she was decompensated, was sleepy, and had difficulty responding to questioning; with a history of arterial hypertension (AHT). On clinical examination: drowsy, Glasgow: ocular opening 3, verbal response 4, motor response 5, 12/15; pupils hyper-reactive, no signs of focalization. A non-contrast computed axial tomography (CAT) scan of the head was requested, reporting that she was tomographically adequate for her age. As the hours passed, there was greater neurological compromise: confusion, disorientation, she stopped speaking, her gaze became fixed, and she progressed from superficial to deep coma. The head CT was repeated without contrast, reporting: hypodensities in the paramedian region of both thalami, without involvement of the midbrain; infarction in the Percheron artery. Interconsultation with the intensive care unit (ICU) was performed, and transfer to their service was indicated for management. The patient died the following day.

Resumen
Scientific research involving students and university professors is part of the professional development process at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, generating new knowledge that contributes to societal advancement. Throughout the scientific research process, valid sources of scientific information are consulted, aiding in the research process and the preparation of the manuscript to be disseminated, which will help advance science. To disseminate the results of scientific research, there are various means of dissemination. However, to effectively contribute to the development of science, a validation process of all the content of the work to be disseminated must be carried out. Currently, scientific journals have a validation process called "Peer Review," through which only an article that has passed this process will be published in a scientific journal. This is why institutions worldwide, where students and professors wish to register to be officially recognized as scientific researchers, require the publication of a minimum number of scientific articles in journals indexed in scientific documentation databases. The reality is that most of the time, students and university professors have not received training on the steps to follow to prepare and submit a manuscript for evaluation for publication in a scientific journal. Universities should prepare a work plan to help train the entire university community to acquire the skills needed to have their manuscripts received and accepted for evaluation for publication.

Resumen
Suicidal risk in emergencies represents a critical challenge that requires a multidisciplinary approach for its identification, assessment, and management. This article reviews evidence-based strategies and tools to address this issue. Suicidal behavior is influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors, demanding comprehensive evaluations that include identifying risk and protective factors, as well as reducing access to lethal means. The approach necessitates well-defined protocols in emergency services to enhance care from admission to discharge. Validated tools such as SAFE-T, C-SSRS, and others prove useful for assessing suicidal risk. In the context of Peru, epidemiological data reveal an increase in suiciderates, with predominant methods such as hanging. The review identifies theoretical models of suicide that explain the context and contribute to understanding the complexity of suicidal phenomena. This study concludes that empathetic, interdisciplinary care, detailed clinical history documentation, and the implementation of innovative strategies in emergency settings can make a significant difference in suicide prevention, promoting a patient-centered approach adapted to local realities.

Resumen
Irregular antibodies are the result of sensitization processes such as transfusions, transplants or pregnancies, and are often the cause of hemolytic reactions in transfused people. This is more critical when there is an expression of a rare phenotype in the patient, and consequently the irregular antibodies are directed against low-frequency red blood cell antigens, which makes it difficult to find donors with the same phenotype. We present the case of a patient with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus candidate for hip surgery with the presence of anti-Ku and K0 phenotype; during the search for blood units, serological compatibility was only found with a close relative, and this allowed her to schedule her surgical procedure.

Resumen
Introduction: Preeclampsia is a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy with high risk of maternal-fetal morbidity and mortality. Its anesthetic management is key to optimize perioperative safety. Methodology: A narrative review was performed in databases such as PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane Library, without time restriction, using DeCS/MeSH terms: Pre-Eclampsia, Anesthesia, Perioperative Medicine, Obstetrics, Hypertension, Pregnancy-Induced. Results: Regional anesthesia is the first choice in cesarean section due to its hemodynamic stability and lower neonatal impact. General anesthesia is reserved for cases of coagulopathy or neurological compromise, with greater risk of perioperative hypertension. Invasive monitoring, adequate use of vasopressors and multimodal analgesia are fundamental in intraoperative and postoperative management. Conclusion: A personalized anesthetic approach based on the pathophysiology of preeclampsia improves maternal-fetal outcomes. Optimization of anesthetic strategies and development of new technologies will contribute to improve safety in this population.
