Resumen
Introduction: preservation of the structural integrity of the permanent natural dentition is crucial for maintaining dental functionality and aesthetics. Consequently, surgical endodontics treatment represents a last resort for achieving this objective, and its failure may jeopardize tooth survival. Endodontic failures can be addressed by non-surgical or surgical endodontic retreatment. Among the most common causes of endodontic failures are root perforations, also known as artificial openings caused in the root walls caused by iatrogenic factors, resorptive processes, among others. The objective to evaluate the efficacy of platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) in periapical surgery to promote bone regeneration and improve the prognosis of teeth with root perforations, Additionally, determine the impact on bone regeneration after periapical surgery. Methodology is experimental transversal because a case study is applied, taking information from the patient before, during and after the process. Results: reference data is obtained in the literature that reports an incidence of perforations between 0.7% and 10%, and the percentage of teeth extracted due to endodontic failure with perforations is between 2.9% and 4.2. % depending on the time elapsed since the perforation, the size of the perforation and in which root third the perforation is located, with the middle or cervical third having a poor prognosis. Considering the analysis of these data, the result is that the application of the protocol described in this report can be used as an alternative reference to the failure of non-surgical endodontic treatment to preserve a functional dental structure in the mouth for a greater amount of time. General Area of Study: Odontology. Specific area of study: Endodontic. Type of study: Clinical case.

Introduction: Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is the most prevalent nosocomial infection in Intensive Care Units (ICU). Good nursing practices are essential for its prevention. Objective: to conduct a systematic review of good nursing practices in the prevention of nosocomial infections associated with mechanical ventilation, and to evaluate the effectiveness of its implementation in third-level hospitals in Latin America. Methodology: a systematic review of studies published between 2019 and 2024 was conducted. The search process was conducted in the Scielo, LILACS and Redalyc databases and allowed the selection of 10 articles from 6 Latin American countries, whose samples were pediatric patients, adults, and older adults. Results: a package of interventions is applied in pediatric patients that emphasizes maintaining oral hygiene and raising the head of the bed. These interventions are also conceived for adult and older adult patients. In studies in the adult population, although full adherence to the implemented interventions is not achieved, a reduction in the risk of pneumonia and in the length of hospital stay is observed. Conclusions: the nursing intervention packages, which are applied in the ICUs of Latin America, in the care of patients with VAP, coincide in including as main nursing care actions, oral hygiene measures, elevation of the head of the bed and observance of protocols for endotracheal aspiration. General Area of Study: Medicine. Specific area of study: Intensive care unit. Type of study: Bibliography Review.

Resumen
Introduction: The intensive care unit is characterized by being a hostile environment where the patient may experience negative feelings, therefore, strategies such as open doors have been established to humanize care, however, it is essential to take into account the perspective of nursing professionals, who are responsible for providing comprehensive care and including family members in the activities they perform. Objective: To know what has been published in the literature about the perspectives of nursing professionals on open-door ICU. Methodology: An integrative review was conducted, obtaining 456 studies from the databases consulted. Articles published in the last 10 years (2014-2024) in Spanish, Portuguese and English were considered as inclusion criteria. Results: Of the 17 articles selected, 7 categories were identified according to the perspectives of nursing professionals on open-door ICU: characterization, positive impact of humanized care, effect of the visit on staff, effect and beliefs of the visit on the patient, effect of the visit on the family, open-door ICU visitation policy, and requirements for the implementation of the visit. Conclusion: Nursing professionals perceive open-door ICU as a strategy that improves the quality of care and patient recovery but requires appropriate protocols. For some, it is a model of humanization and family participation, while others warn that the family's lack of knowledge and mistrust can generate conflicts in care. General Area of Study: Medicine. Specific area of study: Nursing. Type of study: Review article.

Introduction. The autolytic attempt is caused by a psychological-emotional destabilization of the person, who deliberately generates violence on himself and commits the act through various means without resulting in death, but with serious injuries and has a high possibility of becoming a suicide. Objective. To analyze the risk factors and causes associated with self-inflicted attempts, as well as suicidal behaviors, through a systematic literature review. Methodology. For this study, a bibliographic review was developed in databases such as: SciELO, Regional Portal of the Virtual Health Library, Scopus, PubMed, ProQuest, Dialnet and Redalyc, using Google Scholar and search engines in the selection of articles. Results. The authors agree that self-harming behaviors are influenced by personal, interpersonal, socioeconomic, cultural, and psychiatric factors, present at all stages of life, but more common in adolescence and adulthood. Risk factors include age, marital status, family dysfunction, substance abuse, and socioeconomic problems, among others. Biological, psychiatric, and emotional causes, such as personality disorders and depression, stand out for their high lethality. Therefore, it is essential that nursing professionals are trained to recognize and address these risk factors, focusing on prevention and timely intervention. Conclusion. The identification of multifactorial risk factors for self-injurious behavior underscores the complexity and severity of the problem, especially in vulnerable populations. The training and preventive approach of Nursing professionals are essential for early detection and effective intervention, thus contributing to the reduction of suicide attempts and their tragic consequences. Resumen
Introduction. Attempted suicide represents the third cause of death among people aged 15 to 29 and most suicides occur in low- and middle-income countries. In the face of suicidal behaviors and behaviors, health professionals must work to promote protective factors that provide security for the sustenance of life and focus on minimizing predisposing circumstances, which may at some time precipitate lethal behaviors. Objective. Characterize protective factors and nursing interventions in primary prevention, monitoring and control of suicidal behaviors or a potential act of suicide. Methodology. The study was developed as a descriptive bibliographic review, including scientific publications available in databases such as Scopus, PubMed, SciELO, ProQuest, the Regional Portal of the Virtual Health Library, Dialnet and Redalyc. The search strategy integrated the use of Google Scholar and the search engines of each database. Results. Protective factors such as social support, positive family dynamics, emotional regulation and self-esteem are essential to prevent suicidal behaviors. Nursing interventions should focus on enhancing these factors through preventive actions from primary care, addressing education, early identification of risks and creation of support networks. In addition, it is necessary to establish standardized protocols, strengthen continuous training and promote a humanized approach. The therapeutic relationship, based on empathy and trust, is key to identifying risks, promoting healthy behaviors, and reintegrating patients into their community environments. Conclusion. Protective factors are essential in suicide prevention, while the nursing role focuses on implementing preventive strategies, strengthening therapeutic bonds based on empathy and trust, and managing risks effectively. General area of study: Health. Specific area of study: Nursing. Type of study: Original article.

The present study focuses on analyzing the influence of Educaplay on the development of logical-mathematical skills in fifth-grade students of General Basic Education at Unidad Educativa Fray Bartolomé de las Casas, located in the parish of Salasaka, considering the importance of mathematical reasoning in academic learning. The objective was to design and implement interactive activities in Educaplay to enhance numerical skills and problem-solving abilities. A pre-experimental pretest–posttest design with a mixed approach (quantitative and qualitative) was applied. A set of tests validated by experts and activities (Froggy Jumps, test, video quiz, memory) were administered to 28 students under controlled conditions, along with classroom observations and teacher perspectives. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement: the mean score increased from 3.61 in the pretest to 8.18 in the posttest (t (28) = 39.686; p = 0.000), evidencing notable progress in the understanding of basic operations and problem-solving through logic. Educaplay fostered greater motivation and student participation, which directly contributed to the consolidation of learning. It was concluded that the implementation of Educaplay has proven to be an effective pedagogical strategy that strengthens the development of logical-mathematical competencies, becoming an innovative resource that enhances teaching, promotes independent learning, and generates new opportunities to raise educational quality.
