Sr. Editor After reading the article by Lobato-Jeri, C et al. which is entitled "Clinical surgical characteristics of patients aged 75 years or older colostomized in the national hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins with DOI: 10.25176/RFMH.v16.n2.667, published in 2016, in your prestigious journal of Facultad de medicina humana de la Universidad Ricardo Palma, I must say that it has been a pleasure to have studied it, because it deals with a very relevant topic for the public health of our country. This study covers the characteristics that exist in elderly patients who underwent colostomy surgery. What caught my attention was that, of the patients analyzed in their publication, a large percentage (42.11%) had unresectable colorectal cancer that caused intestinal obstruction, which led them to have a colostomy.

El presente trabajo recoge unos apuntes realizados en vida por el recordado y distinguido historiador sanmarquino Raúl Rivera Serna. Rescatados por su hijo Raúl Rivera Escobar, estos apuntes sobre el vocabulario del dialecto quechua Chinchaysuyo estuvieron por mucho tiempo en calidad de inéditos. Dada su importancia, el comité editorial de nuestra revista ha visto conveniente publicarlos a fin de que su lectura sea un aporte a los investigadores del idioma quechua.

El objetivo del presente artículo es presentar un esquema de las facetas de la vida de Ricardo Palma, a través de su producción escrita e impresa que se encuentra custodiada en la Biblioteca Nacional del Perú, resaltando la gestión que se ha realizado sobre esta producción como patrimonio bibliográfico documental, debido a la relevancia y significado que tienen para la cultura de los peruanos. Rumbo a la conmemoración del centenario del fallecimiento de uno de nuestros más importantes intelectuales, la BNP, de la cual Palma fue su director y reconstructor, ha realizado desde del 2016 diversas gestiones para la conservación, catalogación, seguridad, declaración como Patrimonio cultural de la Nación, digitalización y saneamiento legal para su adecuada puesta en valor. Las acciones han abarcado su correspondencia, manuscritos, colección de libros, donde destaca la primera edición completa de las tradiciones peruanas, anotadas y comentadas por él mismo, permitiendo así que su obra siga siendo conocida para especialistas e interesados en todo el mundo.

La Guerra del Pacífico (1879-1884) fue un conflicto bélico que involucró a Chile, Perú y Bolivia. El objetivo de este artículo consiste en reflexionar sobre las consecuencias de este enfrentamiento para el Estado peruano. Para ello, analizamos dos fuentes históricas que fueron producidas por intelectuales que tomaron las armas y lucharon en batallas: Cartas a Piérola sobre la ocupación chilena de Lima (entre 1880 y 1889), de Ricardo Palma y Discurso en el Politeama (1888), de Manuel González Prada. El primero afirmó que la razón del fracaso de Perú en la lucha beligerante contra los chilenos se debió a que el país tiene una población indígena masivamente, considerada inferior e inútil; mientras que el segundo manifestó que la razón del fiasco de la guerra se debió precisamente a que los indios fueron subordinados y tratados como sirvientes, y no como ciudadanos de la República Peruana. Este trabajo reflexiona sobre estas dos perspectivas distintas y demuestra cuánto la cuestión indígena fue un tema importante, en el contexto de fines del siglo XIX, para discutir las razones de la derrota del Perú en la Guerra del Pacífico.

The study of the colonial cacicazgos is very important because it helps us to understand the strategies carriedout by the curacas or caciques in order to maintain their privileges. The cacicazgo was an institution thatfunctioned in colonial times as an imitation of the one that functioned in Tahuantinsuyo with the Incas, withthe aim of controlling the aboriginal population. The Spanish conquerors took advantage in their own way,conditioning the operation for their benefit. In the old zone of Chimú influence, it was where the first populationtransfers were practiced according to the interests of the encomenderos until the lawyer Lope García deCastro (1564-1569). It was from 1570, with the government of Viceroy Francisco de Toledo (1569-1581),that the foundation of Indian towns with the so-called reductions began to be implemented throughout theviceroyalty. As of those years, the general transfer of the populations to the territories that had previously beenchosen, either on vacant land or owned by curacas, began again. The transfer of the population to the chosenlocation was with the objective of being able to count on the indigenous workforce with greater security andthus they could not evade, since these places were walled or fenced with adobes or sticks.

Este artículo estudia el desaparecido retablo de San José de la iglesia de San Pedro de Lima, cuya iniciativa fue proyectada por los padres de la antigua Congregación del Oratorio de San Felipe Neri en 1795. El encargo de esta obra de gran envergadura se encargó al maestro ensamblador y carpintero Juan Pablo Mesía y se concluyó al año siguiente, siendo una de las obras más importantes de características clasicistas del antiguo templo jesuita a finales del siglo XVIII. This article describes the procedure for the implementation of a graphical user interface using the App Designer development environment of the Matlab software and its Toolbox Signal Processing and Symbolic Math, which allowed obtaining the Fourier Series coefficients for seven periodic signals followed by a graphical representation in the domain of time and frequency through pulses. Likewise, this  interface was implemented using various components such as Drop Down, Button, Knob, Axes, among others, which allowed the choice of the number of sinusoidal components used in the decomposition, as well as the choice of the type of signal, its amplitude, frequency, DC level and duration time of the same. Therefore, this implementation complements the teaching-learning process developed remotely for a topic in the Telecommunications I course of the 6th academic semester of the Electronic Engineering Degree at Ricardo Palma University. Finally, the graphical results are presented for the case of four choices of periodic signals, with different amplitudes, frequencies and DC levels; as well as the numerical results in terms of the mean square error, showing a lower value for the triangular signal despite using a reduced number of sinusoidal components

Methodology: The  Beach condominiums have a negative impact on the environmental sustainabilityof the South Coast of Metropolitan Lima, as well as informal occupation due to notrespecting technical standards, traditional spas due to not applying environmentalmanagement systems and instruments considerably affect quality air, soil and water,some industrial, agro-industrial and recreational activities generate environmentalpollution by not applying mitigation measures Conclusions: The different forms ofoccupation negatively impact environmental sustainability, of the coastal strip ofsouth metropolitan Lima, exacerbation this situation in recent years.
