The NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptor constitutes a significant component of excitatory synapses. The presence of intractable epilepsy in some patients with cortical dysplasia (CD) underscores the relevance of histological, electrophysiological, and molecular investigations to understand the mechanisms involved. In this context, a simulator based on the work by André et al., aimed at educational objectives, has been conceived. It features a curriculum that introduces students to the topic and allows for virtual practical exercises. The simulator faithfully reproduces the recovery of desensitization in NO-CD cells, apparently normal CD cells, and cytomegalic CD cells, as evidenced in experimental records. The implemented mathematical model allowed for theoretical estimation of internal calcium concentration in the reported experiments. |

The intervention of psychologists in legal proceedings and their importance in judicial decisions in cases of child sexual abuse is particularly relevant. However, problems have been identified both in the quality of the reports and in the methodology used to prepare them. The main objective of this research was to analyze the extent to which forensic psychological reports meet the quality criteria proposed by specialized guidelines. Using a previously validated instrument, 60 forensic psychological reports on sexual abuse cases in Mexico were analyzed. It was found that the reports were lacking in comprehensive quality. The need for specialization, the implementation of videorecording in interviews with children and the generation of good practice guidelines for the Mexican context were proposed. |

Baird's Sparrow is a migratory bird that has experienced a significant reduction in its populations. This study aimed to determine the size of the winter home range (WHR), population density, as well as seed biomass and soil cover and structure at three sites used by Baird's Sparrow and the relationship between these variables. The average WHR size was 0.042 hectares, with a seed biomass in the soil of 5.65 g/m² and a population density of 2.23 individuals/hectare. Significant correlations (Spearman, p≤0.05) were found between WHR and seed biomass, although these correlations varied between sites (DOWE rs=-0.90; LALA rs=-0.79; LAPO rs=-0.16). This study contributes to our understanding of the ecology of Centronyx bairdii. However, it is acknowledged that there may be other variables not considered in the study that could influence WHR. |

Online social support occurs through interaction in sociodigital networks. The aim of this study was to design and evaluate an explanatory model of the effect of e-support on subjective well-being in Mexican population. A non-experimental, cross-sectional study was carried out using data from a national survey on subjective well-being, which is used to learn about people's well-being and social progress under the guidelines issued by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Based on a correlation and multiple regression analysis, a path analysis was carried out to evaluate the proposed theoretical model, which adjusted satisfactorily, although it explained a low proportion of the variance of subjective well-being. |

Floods are the deadliest natural hazards and cause the most extensive damage each year worldwide. This study focuses on evaluating the impact of riverine floods from the Las Liebres stream using a methodology that combines hydraulic modeling, hydrological modeling, and the projection of extreme precipitation events for different return periods, employing frequency analysis with stationary and non-stationary parameters. The results project maximum precipitation events of up to 110 mm with a return period of 100 years, generating a flow rate of approximately 80 m³/s and flooding 13.2% of the urban area of the basin. These floods affect mobility, critical infrastructure, access to basic services, and emergency response capabilities. |

Sea turtles are animals that play an important role in the marine ecosystem. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out during May and June 2023, where 92 surveys were applied with three Afro-Mexican populations of the Costa Chica of Guerrero, aiming to investigate and characterize the attitudes and practices related to the consumption of sea turtle eggs. It was identified that more than 43% of the population stands against the consumption of sea turtle eggs; however, these practices persist. It was found that there is a need to implement programs to transform attitudes and practices related to marine turtle eggs consumption through participation and collective learning, since “lack of information” is reported as one of the main causes of its consumption. In addition, the urge to include in these programs the participation of illegal sellers, known as “hueveros”, is highlighted since activities such as poaching continue to be one of the main threats. |

The generation of organic waste due to food loss and waste not only affects the environment, but also has a significant impact on the economy of traders and consumers. The objective is to evaluate the perception of traders in the municipal market of Ozumba, State of Mexico, regarding the generation of organic waste. A survey was applied to 200 vendors of fruits, vegetables and greens, and a factor and cluster analysis was applied. Fifty-four percent are women, 29% are between 41 and 50 years old, and 40% have a high school education. 59.7% consider that the main reason for wastage is low sales, 61.3% apply more than one strategy to take advantage of it. It is concluded that it is necessary to reconstruct the consumer's choice of food and to raise awareness among retailers in order to reduce waste, take advantage of food and reduce its environmental impact. |

Copolymer poly(n-butyl acrylate) and poly(acrylic acid), 70% and 30%, respectively, were prepared by radical emulsion polymerization. The copolymer obtained was used in a coextrusion process to make a sensor cable prototype formed of nichrome wire as core and copper wire wrapped spirally (windings 1.2 cm/cycle). A sensing system circuit was designed for milk leak detection. The polymer structure improves the processing properties for distributed shaped wire sensors and decreases sensitivity to the environmental humidity, avoiding false alarms. In simulated tests, the system detects the leak localization with high accuracy (error levels as +/- 1%). |

In a self-proclaimed information and knowledge society, educational technology continues to gain prominence in Mexican educational spaces, owing to the didactic potential of information and communication technology (ICT). Among these digital tools is the virtual forum. However, after so many years, the following question arises: Is it still useful and functional? To address this question, a mixed-methods research approach was employed to evaluate its didactic usefulness in the university context. This study involved both students and teachers, and the results indicate that the virtual forum remains as a functional tool to achieve learning outcomes when used with pedagogical foundations and within the framework of learning and knowledge technologies (LKT). However, the main area for improvement is the quantitative evaluation of student’s participation and social interaction. |
