Are citizens responsible for the unjust legislation and public policy that their representatives pass? What type of responsibility could this be? We defend here that, while substantive executive and legislative representation creates moral backward-looking responsibility on the citizenry, formal representation creates moral forward-looking responsibility. We also argue that it is more important to focus on the adscription of the moral forward-looking responsibility associated to formal representation, and that such responsibility should be understood as a citizens’ subset of political duties to resist and modify the injustices that their representatives bring about. Such duties have three main features: they are individualized on each citizen according to her social role, they are open and they are defeasible by certain moral and prudential considerations.

The present text discusses the portrait of José Gaos that Antonio Zirión offers us in his recent book El sentido de la filosofía from two viewpoints: first, Gaos as a philosophy professor and, second, Gaos as a philosopher interested in the unresolved tension between phenomenology and metaphysics and in metaphysics as a problematic discipline in itself. The text also discusses the place that Gaos assigned to “arrogance” as an essential aspect of philosophical activity and the idea that philosophical statements are, in the end, nothing but the expression of a personal and unique perspective.

This contribution examines the solution to the mind-body problem which Kant formulates within the framework of his first causal account. It analyzes Kant’s metaphysical approach and his interactionist solution to this problem in his work on “living forces” and, by using methodological orientations of intellectual history, it contrasts them with the approaches and solutions of other thinkers who influenced the formation of Kantian thought, namely Marquardt and Knutzen, exponents of some of the main casual doctrines of their time, such as pre-established harmony and physical influx. The Kantian solution is proposed, in one sense, as a middle way between these two doctrines and, in another sense, as a critical stance against both of them.

Self-efficacy is a variable that according to the literature and some studies is associated with the academic performance of students, which impacts the quality, permanence, and transition to higher studies at the university level. The objective of the study is to identify the level of self-efficacy that high school students present in Aguascalientes, México, as well as to know if there are differences according to the studies degree and students’ gender. The study is quantitative and cross-sectional. The academic self-efficacy scale was applied to a representative sample of high school students, there were 5316 students of second, fourth and sixth semester from public and private institutions. According to the results obtained by semester of studies, there is a significant difference between students in the second, fourth and sixth semester, being greater in the sixth semester, followed by the second semester and lower in the fourth semester. According to public and private mode, the level of self-efficacy was higher in private support compared to public support. According to the sex of the students, the level of self-efficacy was higher in women than in men. The results show the dynamism of the self-efficacy variable and the possibility that the differences are related to the experience level of the students and the conditions of graduation and transition to higher education.

The objective of this research is to analyze the processes of school inclusion that influence on the acquisition of Spanish as L2 in non-Spanish-speaking migrant children who attend public primary education in Mexicali, Baja California. This study has a qualitative approach, implemented through the Grounded Theory and, using the interview technique in two different modalities such as the depth semi-structured interview and the focused interview. Results show the conceptualization of a series of inclusive and pedagogical situations such as lesson planning for the achievement of a significant inclusion that will lead to the acquisition of Spanish as a second language inside the classroom.

This article presents the results of a study on ecological consumption. The objective of this work was to reveal and analyze the contents of the social representations of this consumption in university students from Mérida, Yucatán. The participants consisted of thirty-five students belonging to five public and private universities. The university students formed six Virtual Focus Groups where they discussed ecological consumption. Among the results, it highlighted that the students have diverse information about the ecological consumption associated with consumerism, the sources of information, and the irresponsible nature of companies with respect to environmental care. Around the students' thinking, meanings related to ecological fashion were revealed as a high-cost consumption that only a certain privileged sector of the population can carry out. In the same way, ecological consumption was linked to eco-friendly and new forms of relationship with the environment. Finally, it was discovered that the attitudes of the participants about the ecological consumption are specified in actions that could favor the environment, such as promoting new lifestyles, reducing consumption, and promoting a circular economy, among others.

The study conducted a bibliometric analysis of the scientific production on Education of Ethnic- -Racial Relations in the Web of Science (WoS) database. The sample consisted of 2,916 articles published in 384 sources from 1945 to 2019. These papers were transferred from the WoS database to the RStudio software where the Bibliometrix package was used. In addition to a quantitative perspective, a qualitative analysis was performed This analysis was based on Bardin’s content analysis, considering the most cited articles in the last 20 years. The main contribution of this study was to offer interesting information about the evolution of the field in the international scope, through a quantitative design enabling researchers to recognize possible gaps in the area.

The article, with a qualitative approach, deals with evaluation instruments and quality parameters for early childhood education. It is proposed to identify, describe and compare different models for assessing the quality of early childhood education, analyzing their suitability for application in the public education system of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Among the models analyzed, two showed greater theoretical and methodological coherence to the context, because they are based on access, inputs and processes and provide for the participation of the educational community. The implementation and management of an evaluation system requires an inseparability between evaluation policy and evaluation instruments through intersectionality, fostered by public policies for children to meet the quality parameters of early childhood education.

The article presents individual experiences of incorporating gender perspective in Social Communication studies. Both experiments were developed at the University of Malaga: Theories of Communication (under graduation course in Journalism) and Audiovisual Script (under graduation course in Audiovisual Communication). The implementation of gender perspective involves curricular adaptations, the incorporation of broader and more diverse references, and the acknowledgement of contributions to knowledge from other epistemologies. The studies of Theories of Communication have contributed to the formative practice with a repertoire on the theorities of Communication and Audiovisual Script, where the teaching-learning process was based on the analysis of cinematographic works created and starred by women.
