The concept cultural policy is widespread among social researchers because it makes easy the integration of traditional culture elements into the study of the political action of marginalized groups. Even though in historical investigation the use of this analysis category is recent, its use is giving fruitful results. However, it may seem that this concept is not functional when applied to Ancient Regime contexts. This paper proposes some reflections around the meaning of the notion “cultural policy” trying to get its analytical benefits in the study of pre Borbonican. It is focused on how marginalized demographic groups from New Spain society used tools in order to question the State and states that those strategies can be assumed as cultural policy practices sprung from the traditional discourse, the laws and the segregational policies of Spanish monarchy.

The relationship between science and society is constantly evolving due to the continuous challenges arising from humankind development. Given the global environmental degradation processes, social pressure has increased on the academic sector committed to the creation of theoretical and practical knowledge, which supports sustainable management of natural resources and corresponding development. In this context, during the nineties, new scientific disciplines appeared with a systemic, synthetic and humanistic vision. Development of such disciplines required novel human and logistical capabilities. Specialized laboratories equipped with the necessary means to encourage the formulation of proposals and solutions addressing sustainability challenges arisen. The aim of this paper is to highlight the relevance of sustainability laboratories in current scientific work, and their abilities to facilitate a closer relationship between science and society within a framework of sustainability.

This paper analyzes the relationship of social capital and collective action. More specifically, the paper tests structural equation models that include three different social capital dimensions (interpersonal trust, institutional trust, and strength of ties) and three different collective action dimensions (namely associationism, efficacy, and participation). SEM models use two different Mexican data sources, a) SEDESOL Social Capital Survey 2006, b) PNUD Social Capital Survey 2011. Most of the analyses ran by using the social capital survey 2011. Results suggest that greater interpersonal trust conveys greater collective action, also showing that the relationship is affected by social stratification components, including sex, income level, region, and social mobility. The analysis concludes by discussing theoretical and public policy research-based implications.

The article approach the film Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton, 2001) through some philosophical readings of Postmodernism, having as a constant narrative of Revelation, leading to a frantic search of humanism and mythology, with a look characterized by nostalgia for the past and provides a series of obituaries: the death of the subject, the end of the great narratives, the critical reconstruction of tradition, the end of metaphysics and fall absolut theory. In Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton, 2001) we witnessed a End of the World created through elements like homage, tribute, parody, surprise and wink.

On September 12, 1693, an alleged miracle took place in the town of Cazalla de la Sierra (Seville). An image of St. Nicholas of Tolentino was carried in procession to a haunted house in the village. From that day the prodigious phenomena that were said to have taken place in the house ceased. And the image of the saint sweated that night. The written testimonies and the literary parallels of the miracle are analyzed.
