Presentación

El presente artículo relata los inicios y las experiencias generadas en dos actividades de docencia y extensión. La primera se trata de los cursos de “Cultura y persona adulta mayor: retos del nuevo milenio”; la segunda, titulada “Educando para la recreación y uso del tiempo Libre”. El eje central del trabajo de extensión y docencia ha sido el diálogo intergeneracional en la formulación y ejecución de proyectos que coadyuven a la construcción de aprendizajes significativos para la vida. En los encuentros intergeneracionales participan estudiantes de la Universidad Nacional que asisten al Centro de Estudios Generales y personas adultas mayores provenientes de varias comunidades heredianas localizadas en centros diurnos y hogares. Estas actividades se realizan mediante la formulación y ejecución de programas intergeneraciones comprendidos en el marco de la acción institucional que interconecta la extensión universitaria con la docencia. Después de varios años de realizar estas labores en el marco del Proyecto UNA-Vida, se desea compartir y dar a conocer esta experiencia, cuyos resultados han sido muy satisfactorios y gratificantes; lo que reafirma el compromiso de seguir trabajando en la consecución de aprendizajes significativos para la vida que posibiliten el fortalecimiento de la acción sustantiva universitaria para un nuevo humanismo en el siglo XXI.

Se ha comprobado que la actividad física y el ejercicio mejoran la calidad de vida de las personas mayores. Las investigaciones han encontrado progresos en el plano físico, emocional y social. Una de las organizaciones que está promoviendo estilos de vida saludables es la Organización Mundial de la Salud, que ha enfocado su atención en todas las etapas de la vida: desde la niñez hasta la edad adulta mayor.

The article describes the contribution from a gender perspective the Institutional Collec­tion Center, UNA (National University of Costa Rica) Sustainable Campus of the Nation­al University of Costa Rica, makes for the conservation and environmental protection. It also describes the good practices that are developed there in the field of environmental management, and tools both for the student community, teachers, and administrative staff. The Center contributes to the performance and environmental protection. Besides, it pro­motes the strengthening of environmental culture in the university community. Through the different projects, students involved can collaborate and generate environmental changes, through chats and forums on this topic, as well as collecting and classifying waste. Emphasis is placed on the policies of environment and gender that the National University owns, scope and plans of action, as well as the important equitable participa­tion between university populations in all spaces.

Existing publications about the architecture of shelters at refugee camps are generally focused on either their technical characteristics: materials, implementation and durability, or on their conditions of habitability. This article intends to take a new approach to a topic that would complement previous studies by proposing the exploration of experiential space. The specific example of the La Linière refugee camp in the north of France is studied from three perspectives of space: one’s own-space, shared-spaces and foreign-spaces. Each is introduced through a small number of individual objects that speak of, and reveal how the inhabitants are linked to the given shelter-object and, then, how they transform it. As a conclusion of the study of these situations, the traces of everyday life will be shown as a reflection of two types of time which are in opposition but yet at the same time co-exist: the passage of time and dwelling time.

This article exposes the influence of the De Stijl movement in Eileen Gray’s work being based on the finding of temporary interconnections on publications and exhibitions, but especially on the the synthetic analysis of the projects and works and their confrontation. Eileen Gray’s self-taught learning was based on both, the critical remark to the art and architecture of her context and in her own interests and skills. The link between her work and the Dutch avant-garde movements goes back to her beginnings as a designer when, for example, her installation Boudoir for Monte-Carlo, placed in the Salon des Artistes Décoráteurs in Paris (1923) had an important impact in the magazine of the Amsterdam’s School, Wendingen (1924).

The shower, which exists since the Classical Greece, is reborn in its mechanised form as hydrotherapeutic treatment for the French 17th-century well-off class. The presence of the patient and the doctor, generates a dialogue between the inner voice and the reason’s discourse. The exchange of intimate writings and medical treaties shows its history through the senses, revealing four transformation periods.Starting from the fear towards the treatment’s violence in the 17th century, an awareness of the existence of the nervous system is drawn in the 18th century. In the 19th century, the apparition of the notion of comfort, contrasts with the mensuration of its properties. In the early 20th century the shower is figured as a diversion instrument, whilst sanitary interest is focused in its specification.

In many moments throughout the history of the architect, there has been confusion about the role of this profession, even about such consideration as against that of a simple craft. Of these moments, the situation in England in the 18th century is developed in this paper, choosing Christopher Wren and some of the professionals who were related with him, in one way or another, as exemplar characters to do so. The variety of routes leading to architecture, as well as its own approach, makes this moment a good example of the continuous professional swaying.

Constelaciones journal, with this fifth issue, has obtained important achievements. The indexing improvement, which we made our primary goal, has reached already very positive results thanks to the quality of the articles published up to now on the one hand, and to the rigor of the peer-review selection process on the other.
