Resumen
We compare the family formation preferences of 149 —Mestizo, Nahua, Totonaco, and Maya— young-single individuals from Puebla and Quintana Roo, Mexico. We analyzed inter-group and inter-sex preferences by size of locality and marriages market characteristics. The results show that young indigenous and mestizo individuals of both sexes, with no statistical differences by size of locality prefer marriage at elder ages, a legal married status, neolocality and homogamy, with slight differences between social groups. We conclude that there is continuity of the traditional nuptiality system, with some glimpses of issues linked to SDT thesis.

Resumen
Mexico as a country is immersed in a process of accelerated population aging. Older people are exposed to multiple risks, including domestic violence, not only from their couple, but also from other family members. The proposed objective of this article is to analyze the characteristics and main factors associated with family violence of older adult women in 2016 -excluding intimate partner violence- by age groups (60-69 and 70 years old or more) and subtypes of violence (emotional, economical, physical and sexual). An analysis of The National Survey on the Dynamics of Household Relationships (ENDIREH in Spanish) 2016 was used. The final sample consisted of 18,416 women aged 60 or more, which represented a total of 7,043,622 women in the age group. A descriptive analysis was carried out and then binary regression models were estimated to determine the main factors associated with violence and its subtypes. The emotional violence was the most frequent, followed by economic violence.

Resumen
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the use of cell phones increased due to the confinement that implied more time at home and carrying out virtual activities, this modified some behaviors, among which eating behavior stands out. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between cell phone use patterns and their use during eating episodes. An online survey created on the Google forms platform was sent via email, which was based on the Mobile Phone Problematic Use Scale (MPPUS) and was answered anonymously. Regarding the use of cell phones during meals, 33.1 per cent of the total participants presented this behavior always or almost always and 30.7 per cent sometimes. Problematic cell phone use was higher in the group that was in confinement (5.6 vs 1.8 per cent), being more pronounced in women (p = 0.011). In the group of occasional cell phone users, 2.2 por ciento used it during meals and in the group with problematic use, 80.8 per cent (p < 0.000). People from 29 to 59 years old were the ones who most reported using it at all times of food (65.1 per cent) followed by young people (34.9 per cent).

Resumen
The association of chronic non-communicable diseases (CND) such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity with the risk of contagion and/or morbidity of the COVID-19 disease in the multicultural cities of Oaxaca is analyzed. The relationship between contagion and death was analyzed, in association with people who suffered from a chronic disease from March 2020 to May 2021, through the linear regression statistical technique in order to obtain the existing association in the analyzed time. The results indicate that hypertension stands out as a comorbidity for the contagion and death of the population by COVID-19, combined with the urbanization process that drives sedentary lifestyle, car use, breathing polluted air and toxic eating habits.

Resumen
The objective of this text is to locate in the compensating equation the issue of transnational migration from Mexico. This is because with the combination of the information provided by population censuses, sociodemographic surveys and vital statistics, it is possible to know both the state of the population at a given moment and the changes that occur over time. The so-called “compensating equation” is the fundamental formula of demographic analysis and takes into account the population and the components of its change: fertility, mortality and migration. In it emanates the component of transnational or international migration with which the population of the entity is recognized as not closed.

Resumen
A new species of Tropidophis is described from the dry forest of the Barahona Peninsula, southwestern Dominican Republic, on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola. There, the new species is parapatric with T. haetianus, the only previously known Tropidophis on Hispaniola, but exhibits striking differences in scalation (much higher number of ventral scales), in other structural morphological traits (head and body proportions), and in dorsal and ventral coloration and pattern (e.g., fewer spot rows, and a patternless head and venter, etc.). The locality of this new species lies within an area where other vertebrate species have been recently discovered, underscoring the growing appreciation of the Barahona Peninsula as a diversity hotspot. Yet, this region also remains poorly studied and it is also highly imperiled due to ongoing anthropogenic change, justifying more conservation efforts.

Resumen
This article is based on the premise that changes and crises in the international order require a greater role for European external action. The article reviews recent debates on strategic autonomy, analyses the difficulties in advancing this goal and identifies different options for strengthening the EU's external role, in line with the logic of strategic autonomy. It concludes that strategic autonomy should be used by the EU to promote its status as an international power, but also to promote a different vision of power at the international level.

Resumen
Over the last decade, the growing relevance of various geopolitical factors in economic decisions is introducing tensions into the current framework of multilateral international relations. Most recently, the invasion of Ukraine has starkly revealed how the European Union's (EU) high economic and financial interconnectedness with the rest of the world can entail vulnerabilities. This article analyses these interdependencies, and discusses the role that economic policies can play in mitigating the vulnerabilities arising from them.

Resumen
The article addresses the concept of technological sovereignty framed in that of strategic autonomy focused on the industrial policy. After defining and establishing the relationship between the two, the soft power and hard power instruments that can be available to the EU to improve its technological sovereignty are presented, paying attention to the intelligent combination of several of them. After justifying the need to have a «Technological Sovereignty Index» to monitor actions on a quantitative basis, the relationship between digital sovereignty with energy, military, industrial and digital sovereignty is analyzed, as well as the battle for technological talent. Finally, some options on Spain's contribution in the context of European technological sovereignty are discussed.

Resumen
China’s dual circulation could be considered a form of strategic autonomy but it differs in many aspects. First and foremost, China’s dual circulation has as ultimate objective China’s self-reliance or, in other words, China’s reduced dependence from Western imports, specially technology or any other which can create bottlenecks for the Chinese economy. While the EU’s concept of strategic autonomy also pays attention to the resilience of supply chains, its ultimat objective is not self-reliance, as it focuses on co-dependence, as has been clarified by the addition «open» strategic autonomy. Finally, China’s dual circulation also aims at fostering export markets beyond China’s already very high share of global exports which inevitable increases the world dependence on China.
