Publicación del Instituto del Investigaciones Históricas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, destinada a sacar a luz fuentes documentales de toda índole, códices, textos indígenas de importancia histórica, etnográfica, lingüística, o genéricamente cultural, en relación con los distintos pueblos nahuas, en los periodos prehispánico, colonial y de México independiente. Asimismo incluye en sus varios volúmenes trabajos de investigación monográfica, notas breves sobre historia, arqueología, arte, etnología, sociología, lingüística, literatura, etcétera, de los pueblos nahuas, bibliografías y reseñas de libros de interés en este campo.
This publication was created in 1959 as an organ of the seminar called "Estudios de Cultura Náhuatl. From its beginning the main task of it has been to divulge works and studies of Nahuatl culture. The goal of this magazine is to openly show indigenous documentary proof, codexes and texts regarded as historically important, ethnography (both linguistic and cultural) related to the various Nahua people in the pre-hispanic, colonial and independent periods of Mexico. It also includes works of monographic research, brief notes about history, archaeology, art, ethnology, sociology, linguistics, literature, etc. regarding the Nahua people, as well as bibliographies and reviews of books. Its current editor is Miguel León-Portilla and its associated editor,Guadalupe Borgonio. It is published every six months.
