Lamiaceae Martinov is the sixth largest family of Angiosperms, containing about 240 genera and 7,200 species. In Brazil, it also presents high richness, represented by 70 genera and approximately 590 species. Despite this, it is a relatively underrepresented family in regional floristic studies. The objective of this work was to carry out the floristics and taxonomy of the Lamiaceae species occurring in the municipality of Alagoinhas, Bahia, Brazil. The survey was carried out both by collecting botanical material and by consulting materials deposited in herbarium collections in the region, such as HUNEB and HUEFS. The family is represented in the municipality by 16 species distributed in 13 genera and 4 tribes. Among these species, Mesosphaerum caatingense stands out, which had its first record for the state of Bahia and for the Atlantic Forest carried out in this work. Descriptions, field photographs, comments on the species and an identification key are provided.

Orchidaceae is still poorly studied in southwestern Bahia and most of the existing studies were carried out in the municipalities of Vitória da Conquista and Boa Nova. Thus, the present study aimed to carry out a floristic survey of Orchidaceae in a forest fragment of Montane Seasonal Deciduous Forest, located in Salitre, in the rural area of the municipality of Poções, Bahia, Brazil. The survey was carried out through monthly field trips carried out between September 2020 and May 2022. We found 20 species of orchid distributed in 15 genera, including two new occurrences for Northeastern Brazil: Maxillaria chrysantha Barb.Rodr. e Zygostates juliae Campacci & C.R.M.Silva, one new occurrence for the state of Bahia: Campylocentrum fasciola (Lindl.) Cogn. and four for southwestern Bahia: Cattleya cernua (Lindl.) Van den Berg, Masdevallia infracta Lindl., and Ornithocephalus myrticola Lindl., thus contributing towards the knowledge of the local flora, the state of Bahia, and Northeastern Brazil.

Here, we present a survey of Apocynaceae from Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil. Eighteen genera and 26 native species of Apocynaceae are recognized, including 11 new occurrences for the municipality: Asclepias curassavica, Aspidosperma polyneuron, Blepharodon ampliflorum, Ditassa grandiflora, D. lenheirensis, Himatanthus bracteatus, Ibatia ganglinosa, Macropharynx peltata, Oxypetalum arachnoideum, Petalostelma dardanoi, and Skytanthus hancorniifolius. Moreover, the identification of Forsteronia thyrsoidea is updated to F. nitida.

The article analyzes the renewal of eschatology in the 20th century taking into accounttwo channels: the theological and the historical-cultural crisis of the early 20th century. The author proposes going through these two channels in order to recognize some of the causes that led to the resurgence of this theological treatise, relegated to a lethargic state in theology over the last centuries. The text closes with a mention of hope, a fundamental virtue to sustain the permanent renewal of eschatology.

Introducción: la enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica por su heterogeneidad, necesita de pruebas funcionales respiratorias para identificar el grado de obstrucción al flujo aéreo.Objetivo: describir las características de algunas variables clínicas y funcionales respiratorias en pacientes con enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica ingresados por exacerbaciones agudas.Métodos: estudio descriptivo transversal a la totalidad de 116 pacientes con diagnóstico de enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica, ingresados por exacerbaciones agudas en la unidad de cuidados intermedios del Hospital de Ciego de Ávila en el trienio 2017-2019. Todos dieron su consentimiento por escrito con la aceptación de participar en la investigación. Se analizaron algunas variables epidemiológicas, clínicas y funcionales respiratorias. Se cumplieron los principios éticos.Resultados: la enfermedad predominó en pacientes masculinos (57,76 %), en el grupo de 51 a 60 años (31,90 %) y en la procedencia urbana (66,00 %). El 81,03 % fueron fumadores.Prevaleció el fenotipo agudizador con enfisema (50,86 %). Las exacerbaciones severas fueron las de mayor prevalencia (49,14 %, sobre todo en los mayores de 61 años. Predominaron los patrones obstructivos moderado (39,66 %) y severo (38,79 %) a expensas también de los mayores de 61 años.Conclusiones: en los estudiados predominó la procedencia urbana, el sexo masculino y el hábito de fumar. En los mayores de 61 años se encontró mayor presentación de exacerbaciones severas. Las pruebas funcionales respiratorias determinaron el patrón obstructivo y el nivel de hipoxemia de cada paciente integrante del estudio, lo cual facilitó el diagnóstico certero y el tratamiento adecuado.

Introduction: in sub-Saharan Africa, the incidence of metabolic acidosis in diabetics, frequently suffered by those with type 2, is unknown.Objective: to characterize type 2 diabetics with severe hyperglycemia and metabolic acidosis, admitted to the Main Military Hospital of Luanda.Methods: in the period from January 2019 to March 2020, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in 32 patients admitted to the medical room, diagnosed with severe hyperglycemia and metabolic acidosis. Sociodemographic, clinical and biochemical variables were analyzed. Data were obtained from individual medical records. Descriptive statistical measures were used to summarize the information. Ethical principles were met.Results: the mean age of the patients was 49.9 ± 1.0. There was a predominance of males (71.88 %), military category (56.25 %), diabetes diagnosis of less than one year (56.25 %) and serious illness (56.25 %). Among those with a personal pathological history (40.63 %), arterial hypertension predominated (34.30 %). The main causes of worsening were: therapeutic abandonment (34.38 %), infections (31.25 %), and recent onset diabetes (28.13 %). The means of body mass index and hospital stay were, respectively, 21.8 ± 5.3 and 15.1 ± 4.8 days. Mean pH was 7.1 ± 0.2, bicarbonate 9.7 ± 5.8, and glycemia 420.3 ± 141.9 mg/dl.Conclusions: in the face of a probable diabetic ketoacidosis, the doctor must know the characteristics and complexities of severe hyperglycemia with metabolic acidosis, in order to make the appropriate therapeutic decisions

In the early years of psychoanalytic theory, Freud dedicated himself to developing the concept of fantasy, observing its presence in myriad human activities. In the present work, we underscore the presence of fantasy in three of these activities: the child’s play, pubescent reveries, and the writer’s poetic creation. Based on this emphasis, we propose an investigation into how fantasy circulates in different places of creation. Choosing the three activities mentioned above, we discuss how these activities put the subject of the unconscious into play. It is understood that in the different modalities of fantasizing and in the formations of the unconscious, when in play the subject offers a different place in relation to the Other. As a theoretical support, we operate from three logical temporalities, utilizing as a base the problem of the prisoner’s dilemma as described by Lacan. The first temporality, the instant of seeing, is related to the child’s playing and dreaming. The temporality of understanding is related to reverie/parapraxis; finally, the moment of conclusion is related to jokes and artistic creation. In the latter, the presence of an absent third party at play in the structure stands out.

The present work has as its starting point the rejection that D.W. Winnicott expresses in different parts of his work to the death drive. The objective is to map aspects of the concept the author disagrees with, as well as to explain the proposed alternatives. From the outset we identify a fundamental dissociation between the idea that there is a constitutional aggressiveness to the subject and the conception that such aggressiveness is imbued with an equally constitutional hatred. We also found a notion of trauma that largely dispenses with the drive aspect in favor of valuing the role of the environment, as it is the environment that fails the subject, especially in the early days of life. Finally, the return to the Freudian inorganic gives way to curative regression in the psychoanalytic setting. Underlying all these ideas is a fundamental horizon in ethical, theoretical and clinical terms: creative living.
