With the consolidation of the capitalist system in the nineteenth century, the labor market underwent major transformations. The insertion and growth of female participation was one of the most significant changes that occurred. However, in some activities the presence of women is rare and the discrimination facing great. This work sought to discuss students' perceptions about different career possibilities for women and men, and the role that Biology can play in the deconstruction of this difference. The research was carried out with students aged 16 to 18 from a peripheral school in the interior of São Paulo. It has been observed that cultural learning of gender norms impacts the professional life of women through restrictions based on biological sex

The present study aimed to propose a didactic sequence using entertainment films as an alternative didactic resource for the teaching of Zoology, particularly for the group of Invertebrates. This proposal includes part of the activities carried out by the Uirapuru-PIBID-Capes Project at IFAM, in partnership with public schools in Manaus. The sequence was developed in four moments: 1) brief diagnosis of the students' previous knowledge about the subject and the dialogical expositive class; 2) showing the selected films, with instructions for the students on the elements that should be observed in the films; 3) discussion in groups, directed from aspects that should be observed in the film; 4) final evaluation of the activity performed. The teaching proposal was well received by the students participating in the research, who reported having their interest aroused and learning facilitated from the use of the films.

In the following research we analized spontaneous visitors’ profile (families) and perceptions of their stay at the Museum of Sciences. Applying qualitative exploratory study, the data on their perceptions of the experience was constituted through a questionnaire answered by the visitors in the space of the museum. The results indicate little concern for the context in which science is developed, with visits aimed primarily for leisure and the education of children. There was also criticism of the lack of publicity about the museum and the visitors’ appreciation of the content and the process of mediation. From this it is inferred the positive perception about the visit, though it the practice seems restricted to the public with greater access to cultural capital.

In this article, I present tensions and dialogues on the frontier between Environmental Education (EE) and Science Teaching (ST) and its unfolding in school, problematizing curricular traditions that limit and hierarchize the interactions between the two fields. I identify the epistemological and curricular  characteristics of a school EE that combines a set of sui generis practices and knowledge and, based on research and extension experiences, emphasize the need for new theoretical and methodological dialogues to deepen the dialogue between EE and ST. In the final considerations, I bring the Science, Technology, Society and Environment (STSE) approach of science teaching to propose a critical environmental education / teaching and teacher education, enhanced by university extension

Indigenous Education is characterized by its breadth and plurality, consistent with the peoples, cultures and languages that Brazil encompasses. Thus, although certain documents and guidelines prescribe what the basic education of indigenous subjects should be, there is an extensive mosaic of possible practices. In the present article, we seek to understand curricular configurations that can be assumed by the subjects Sciences and Biology in the indigenous school space. Through semi-structured interviews with indigenous and non-indigenous teachers working in different ethnic groups, we found and analyzed a great diversity of pedagogical practices. We argue for the incorporation and reaffirmation of traditional knowledge in / from the focused subjects, as well as the inclusion of the community in school decisions.

The present study presents the report and analysis of pedagogical practices with the "Itinerant Suitcase", a playful proposal of approach of scientific subjects in Natural Sciences. The context in which the approach was carried out refers to the teaching stage in the High School of the Degree in Rural Education - Natural Sciences of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, where it was investigated the potential of a didactic sequence with the use of the Itinerant Mala from the feeding theme. It can be concluded that the experience of the "Itinerant Mala" contributed to the teaching and learning of scientific concepts, constituting a playful strategy for scientific education, possible and viable in public schools, even with scarce resources.

This article discusses an educational experience on the issues of gender and sexuality carried out with a group of students of the second year of high school in a state school in the interior of Bahia. The proposal was elaborated by a group of PIBID, subproject of Biology. The action was carried out in the six-week period, where the discussions were marked by the presence of the biological discourse used to delegitimize and marginalize the multiple forms of sexuality and gender experiences. About the experience of planning and developing this action, the group recognized how challenging it is to take this path, because it requires mastery of the specific concepts and willingness to deal with the provocations and questions brought by the students.

This investigation occurred in a study group linked to a Community of Practice of teacher training, directed to the historical, epistemological and didactic-pedagogical studies of biology. The subjects investigated in this group are post-graduate teachers in Science Education of a public university in the State of Paraná, who, through a questionnaire, described explanations about life - object of analysis of this study. Through discourse analysis, the nuclei of meanings that refer to thoughts from vitalism to organicism / holistic, and which express a polysemy of ontogenetic concepts about this phenomenon, have been extracted from discursive formations.

In the school, the challenge of favoring a meaningful learning process through the mobilization of students' prior knowledge is still persistent. Here we argue the use of a problem situation on cloning in Biology classes as a strategy to (i) identify subsumers in the cognitive structure of students that would be introduced to Genetics contents and (ii) allow the elaboration of an advance organizer. The students' written records were analyzed by Content Analysis. We consider that the problem situation and the subsequent production of an advance organizer were able to highlight students' knowledge and conceptions about the subject, as well as to contribute to reflect on the introduction of bioethical issues in Biology Teaching.
