Resumen
This article aims to show how the logic of competition between teaching institutions, created by school choice policies, becomes a logic of survival for those who live in the most disadvantaged centres, the so-called “ghetto centres”. To do so, our study is based on a qualitative study using comprehensive interviews with 16 teachers and directors of public institutions in Madrid. The findings from the interview analysis revealed that school choice is not only a technology of neoliberal governmentality, but also a technology of educational biopolitics that “makes some live while letting others die”.

Resumen
In this article, we mapped the projects covered in the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico [Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development] (CNPq) calls for Meninas nas Ciências Exatas, Engenharias e Computação [Girls in Sciences, Engineering, and Computing] program, in 2013 and 2018, and we seek to understand, through interviews with five coordinators, their perceptions about the importance of projects. We identified the capillarity of projects in the country and increased female leadership in projects contemplated in 2018. We point to the social, educational and personal dimension of the projects, acting in areas of social vulnerability, training future teachers, and the university-school relationship, and for the incorporation of an intersectional feminist perspective in gender equity policies in science education.

Social Networks has a great international repercussion as platforms for communication and information exchange that affects all people and institutions, among which is the family. The youngest members of the family systems are the most active subjects in these networks and, in turn, those who can assume more risks. However, on many occasions, it is the parents who over-expose minors on social networks, even without their consent, putting their privacy and right to intimacy at risk. A descriptive and correlational quantitative research is presented. In this sense, the validation process of an unpublished questionnaire aimed at collecting information on the knowledge and behavior of parents on YouTube and Instagram in relation to minors is collected, and the first results of the pilot application of the tool are also analyzed. The designed questionnaire presents good validity and reliability. The main results indicate that the parents surveyed do not publish content about their children on social networks very often and, when they do, they try to avoid presenting identifying information. In addition, adults have a high level of knowledge about current legal regulations. The need to continue researching and undertaking training actions aimed at families on the importance and need to protect minors on networks is confirmed.

Aquest article resumeix una investigació realitzada a Catalunya (Espanya) sobre el comportament digital d'educadores i educadors en entitats d'educació en el lleure durant la COVID-19, moment en què es van suspendre les activitats presencials com a mesura de salut pública. Es volen analitzar els processos i les dinàmiques que aquests han dut a terme, posant un èmfasi especial en les seves competències de resiliència i innovació. El mètode de l'enquesta s'ha aplicat mitjançant qüestionari amb 69 ítems a una mostra de 646 joves educadores i educadors d'aquestes entitats. S'ha dut a terme una anàlisi estadística descriptiva univariada i bivariada en funció de variables de població (edat, gènere, residència i tipologia d'entitat). Els resultats ens descriuen un comportament resilient d'educadores i educadors per mantenir l'activitat educativa durant la suspensió de presencialitat. No obstant això, l'impacte educatiu i els nivells de satisfacció amb les activitats educatives en línia són baixos, i s'observa una incompatibilitat metodològica entre presencialitat i en línia. També es constaten diferències significatives entre educadores i educadors segons el tipus d'entitat. Les educadores i els educadors esperen més presencialitat en el futur immediat, i més reconeixement social i polític.

Aquest treball pretén avançar en la línia de la sistematització dexperiències docents en la formulació dactivitats davaluació mediades per TIC, per a la formació acadèmica i professional en el camp de la Ciència Política. Té per objecte explorar la utilitat del podcasting estudiantil com una estratègia didàctica per a l'aprenentatge teòric-actiu als entorns virtuals universitaris durant la pandèmia de COVID-19. A partir del disseny d'un qüestionari de valoració i una estratègia de mostreig no probabilístic per conveniència, s'ha administrat una enquesta a N=40 estudiants de dos cursos teòrics de grau de l'Escola de Ciències Política de la Universitat de Costa Rica, impartits durant els dos semestres de l'any 2020. L'article revisa els resultats relacionats d'acord amb el grau de satisfacció amb el podcàsting com a forma d'avaluar l'apropiació de continguts teòrics. Es conclou argumentant que aquesta metodologia d'ensenyament-aprenentatge ajuda a facilitar entre els estudiants noves formes de “portar la teoria a la pràctica”, això a través de l'exercici d'habilitats creatives, reflexives i d'argumentació teoricoconceptual d'acord amb la creació de podcasts estudiantils de divulgació, basats en el treball sobre línies teòriques i propostes conceptuals de rellevància per a la ciència política.

In the summer of 2018, the Popular Party (Spanish: Partido Popular, PP) held its first national primaries to elect its president. This study aims to analyse, both quantitatively and qualitatively, the Twitter campaign of the two main candidates in the two stages of this process of internal democracy: from 23 June to 5 July, and from 6 to 21 July. The results show that social networks are a necessary instrument in candidates’ political communication strategy, as they encourage citizen participation and instant communication, and they allow interaction as well. Nevertheless, the findings also point out that this social network has not fully capitalized on its potential, as the one-way transmission of content has taken centre stage.

The concepts of relevance and engagement provide an approach to understanding new media companies’ search for a new sustainability model. This new model must complement the advertising revenue with subscriptions. The media need to ensure various sources of funding. They must regain relevance and maintain engagement with their audience; this paper presents the results of a scoping review. The objective is to identify and synthesise the academy’s vision concerning the relevance and engagement applied to the sustainability of journalism. The academy analyses the innovation processes in news media outlets in-depth and attempts to leverage its business model through paying users. The results show a growing interest in the media’s economic feasibility due to the demise of the advertising-based business model. The in-depth analysis of engagement shows the academy’s lack of a defined consensus, although new research has made valuable contributions. Moreover, there are significant differences between professionals’ and academics’ visions. Although to a lesser extent, Relevance is present in the sustainability debate through the visibility and trust that media brands bring.

Digital newspapers act in an interconnected and fragmented context, producing and disseminating social representations in the virtual community. Its virtual action space (the website) has evolved with the rise of social networks. Journalists in this scenario have generated a new capacity for interaction, allowing the audience to create a communicative dialectic. The article analyzes the actions of the cultural press in matters of cultural heritage, focusing on the three most influential digital newspapers in Spain during the months of June, September, and November 2020. Further analysis on one of these time periods (September) compares the degree of engagement and interaction on Instagram and Twitter across the digital newspapers. A study using a mixed-methods research design was carried out anchored in the analysis of the textual and visual content of publications posted on the web, together with the use of descriptive statistics involving the indicators for the two social networks. The results showed that UNESCO heritage typologies were present in the culture section of the media agenda, as well as geographic and thematic indicators related to heritage. World Heritage was the most newsworthy while Intangible Heritage the least. The levels of engagement and interaction showed interest and involvement in heritage-related posts.

Transmedia franchise is part of a child’s daily life, so it is necessary to delve into production, strategies, and the communication model used by these children’s creations. This article aims to analyse the types of transmedia brands and the producer’s pedagogical vision in the cases of Cleo & Cuquin and Piny. It is an interpretive research using a qualitative methodology ,construct grounded theory. Analysis of the two franchises chosen from unstructured and semi-structured interviews, document analysis and participant observations; instruments validated by triangulation. Finally, the theoretical coding is established and the data collected from the Atlas.ti programme are categorised into families. The results indicate four types of transmedia children’s brands (educational, edutainment, entertainment and pure entertainment), as well as the increase in entertainment content and pure entertainment compared in franchises for 6 to 12 year olds, the growth of educational and edutainment stories versus the decline in entertainment and pure entertainment in preschool transmedia brands. The conclusions show the overprotection and parental control influential in the child franchise and the producer’s vision of the traditional teaching model.
