Más allá del libro: Nuevas miradas del diseño editorial y la experiencia del lector en los Libros-RA

Resumen
This essay analyzes, from Transmedia Narrative perspectives the proposal of Henry Jenkins (2008) and Carlos Scolari (2012), the incipient joining between the book, –understood as a classic support of reading text– and Augmented Reality (AR). This AR-book is exposed as a new communicational product in the Digital Editorial Design field, which calls into question the classic conception of a single author, usually the writer, giving the digital designer a significant importance in the narrative construction as a coauthorship. The AR-Book does not deny the physicality of the object-book, but rather complements it through the user experience and Transmedia Narratives. This add-on is able due to the emergence of mobile devices, leading the reader to immersive experiences, given by interactivity, geolocation, multimedia and visualization. Finally, this essay searches to underline a contrast between AR-books and Editorial Illustration process done by book designer Professor Guto Lins from his rational and narrative speech perspective during the books publishing.

Resumen
Este escrito aborda, desde una mirada analítica, la relación entre historia, arte, diseño y ciudad desde los posibles nexos existentes y sus aportes conceptuales a través de la representación gráfica. Además, se examina cómo las diversas perspectivas del arte y del diseño contribuyen a la generación de realidades que son influenciadas por diferentes pensamientos y experiencias; como caso particular, se aborda la ciudad de Medellín durante el Paro Nacional 2021 en Colombia, en donde se plasmaron obras urbanas llenas de significado. Además, reflejan una realidad viva y latente del espacio, la gente y la ciudad, convirtiéndose en elementos atemporales, que, a través de su representación gráfica, dejan una huella endeble. Haciendo referencia de lo anterior, Figueroa (2017) expresa que “las ciudades modernas se articulan como un mosaico de subentidades urbanas que responden a distintos orígenes y funciones y que se imbrican y yuxtaponen entre sí formando un entramado orgánico.”

Resumen
En el diseño y la artesanía ocurren procesos creativos que guardan relación con el sujeto, el objeto y su entorno. Esta triada vista desde las perspectivas del espacio cultural y del espacio digital que usa inteligencia artificial, es una vía de divulgación de la cultura y de las problemáticas locales. Este artículo toma el caso de la cultura Chachi del Ecuador, ejemplificando de manera didáctica las ideas que inciden en estas relaciones. Esto se fundamenta con apoyo del trabajo de investigación de Cayetano Cruz (2019) en el campo de la creatividad, artesanía y algoritmos de inteligencia artificial. Finalmente, se invita a la reflexión sobre la influencia que tienen los nuevos medios en la construcción social de la identidad digital; surgiendo del consumo de contenidos digitales que son personalizados por algoritmos según los intereses del usuario.

Resumen
La tesis doctoral de Mónica Polanco, se concentra en la construcción de la identidad ecuatoriana, a partir de características encontradas en el diseño de estampillas dentro de periodos constitucionales establecidos. El presente trabajo, se apropia de la metodología cualitativa de la autora, para abordar rasgos de identidad en Perú, Bolivia y Ecuador, en relación con el uso del color como símbolo de lo andino y como rasgo compartido entre estas naciones; en casos particulares como la arquitectura de Freddy Mamani en Bolivia, el muralismo de Elliot Tupac en Perú, o el arte pictórico de Xavier Portilla en Ecuador. Desde el análisis del discurso, a través de la descripción sistemática e interpretativa del paradigma cualitativo, estos corpus se describen como manifestaciones representativas de la identidad desde la visión de nación andina, puesto que responden a contextos contemporáneos de reafirmación nacional, en diálogo con raíces prehispánicas y con el arte pop.

Resumen
As a result of the invitation of the Coordination of the Doctorate in Design of the University of Palermo, the experience and contribution of the doctoral thesis “Nation and State in the graphics of Ecuadorian postage stamps: Images in an era of change: 1990- 2015” was socialized in the space of the Advanced Seminar on International Design. Parallel to this, the relevance of the subject matter at the beginning of the doctorate was addressed, as well as the projection of the research in the articulation with a Social Communication thesis, the result of which resulted in a significant edition on the visuality of the Ecuadorian postage stamp as a communicational graphic instrument of the State and the Nation. The research approaches the understanding of the visual narratives of the postage stamp in the Ecuadorian society, within the framework of three Constitutions, in a period of twenty-five years, where drastic political and social changes took place.

Resumen
En el presente artículo representa una síntesis de la etapa investigadora particular, realizada desde el área de dibujo, y en el marco del diseño de producto y la creación artística; del modo que, pretende ilustrar la investigación en las áreas artísticas, y en concreto del dibujo. El dibujo es una medio expresivo del lenguaje artístico que permite representar la Forma, para diferentes funciones y contextos. Puede representar tanto lo observado como servir para idear un discurso. La investigación en dibujo puede dirigirse hacia diversos factores que posibiliten la innovación: Elaborar nuevos modelos, aplicar nuevas metodologías productivas o desde el ámbito educativo, o desde el ejercicio multidisciplinar, que pueden posibilitar la creación de patentes, modelos de utilidad,… El presente artículo pretende dar luz sobre estos diferentes supuestos de la investigación.

Resumen
The demotivation of students toward science is a fact, so there is a need to promote new ways to teach and motivate students. In this work, we propose to take advantage of non-formal resources, such as science museums, as didactic resources. However, are all science museums educationally appropriate? In this study, 40 science museums in Spain were analyzed using a rubric developed for this purpose and which included the main characteristics of the didactic resources, 2nd generation and interactive museums. It was found that 21 of the museums analyzed are excellent or optimal teaching resources. These museums are not only promoters of the interest and motivation of high school students, but they are also committed to developing critical thinking and addressing science-related phenomena, becoming strongholds of formal and non-formal scientific education.

Different studies show that students usually give linear explanations between genotype and phenotype in which the role of proteins is overlooked. In this work, we characterise the learning associated with protein synthesis that is promoted by modelling and building animated digital external representations. Design-based research was developed during two consecutive years (2017-2018) in a 5th year (16 or 17 years old) of secondary school in Córdoba (Argentina). In the first year, we studied the teaching proposal that the teacher had been developing, and in the second year we co-designed a sequence that proposed the modelling of protein synthesis and the construction of animated digital external representations. The results indicate that the creation of dynamic representations fostered model-based reasoning, and the students were able to connect genes with protein coding, beginning to overcome superficial notions associated with the genotype-phenotype relationship.

Resumen
Mendelian Genetics represents the student’s gateway to Genetics. Although it is essential to understand the basis of inheritance, it does not include two important exceptions occurring in nature that distort Mendelian ratios: (1) gene interactions, or the joint action of several genes contributing to the same phenotype and (2) genetic linkage, or the location of several genes on the same chromosome. On these grounds, we present the Gene Calculator, a web tool that allows us to delve into both aspects. On the one hand, it simulates genetic crossings not only of traditional Mendelian traits but also of traits with all types of existing gene interactions. On the other hand, it allows studying the effect of linkage on Mendelian ratios by estimating genetic distances and generating an output with the graphic representation of the gametes produced by an individual with several linked genes. Finally, we evaluate the educational potential of this tool by proposing a practical activity to be used in the classroom.

Resumen
Scientific competence includes an epistemic dimension related to the ways science validates knowledge. The integration of this dimension in classroom activities is complex. In this article, we merge theoretical frameworks from different authors and propose three focal action points (Argumentation, Nature of Science, Epistemic Cognition). For each focal point, we offer specific strategies to help teachers integrate the epistemic dimension into their classroom activities and exemplify this with classroom activities from several authors.
