It might lead to an enhancement of people’s political involvement. This paper analyzes the relationship between citizens and Spanish MEPs via e-mail. Apart from observing the percentage of answers, a content analysis based on categories has been applyed in order to assess the quality of the answers. The findings point to low response rates when using email to communicate with citizens. However, those MEPS answering put a great deal of effort in resolving the questions asked by citizens.

The present study contributes to the research on communication processes and privacy issues in Social Networks Sites (SNS) and the specific implications for individuals’ informational self-determination in these types of technical environments. The central aim of this project is to investigate whether users are in a position to achieve their desired privacy level with the technical tools and information provided by these online social spaces, to delineate the potentially dangerous context for their privacy and to design an efficient way of introducing new European Commission’s regulation on informed consent in those scenarios. For this purpose, we use an ethnographic approach in conjunction with technical modelling tools. In a first phase of study, we tested competences and knowledge of a group of users of SNS, especially focusing on their attitudes towards privacy and their own protection strategies. The initial empirical findings of this phase suggest that despite their privacy concerns, users tend to show risky practices when introducing their private information on the Net. To assess if this fact is due to information shortage and coevaluate the importance a correct flow of information has to prevent privacy breaches, in the second phase we will provide participants with an informed consent tool.

Research on the history and evolution of public relations and communication management in Spain has been diffused among academics. Although since the introduction of university, both profession and discipline have been increasing at a rapid pace, the debate and the different positions about their origins and identity are still valid. The purpose of this research is to analyze the similarities and differences that exist between the different currents in the Spanish academic field, as well as the current evolution of "public relations" and the change in direction that has occurred, especially in the professional field, towards "communication management". To carry out this investigation a bibliographic review has been carried out from the analysis of the literature published in the major Social Sciences databases in Spain. The main results indicate that there is disparity of criteria on the background and origins of public relations in Spain as well as their evolution towards communication management.
