This article presents the results of a qualitative research on the experiences of community participation of volunteer students of Medicine and Nursing careers at the National University of Patagonia (Argentina) in the context of the pandemic. In particular, these experiences occurred in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, within the framework of the DETECTAR program, a public policy aimed at detecting and containing positive cases of Covid-19. This work develops the characteristics that this participation acquires, the experiences of knowledge and sociability that are produced, highlighting the contribution of the students to the management and social processing of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The following article is an exploratory research on youth politicization towards political practices and discourses of liberal/ libertarian right-wing parties in the province of Mendoza during 2022. We delved into the profiles of young members and supporters of libertarian/liberal political parties, their militant commitments, and the process of political subjectivization. Data was collected through qualitative and quantitative research techniques. We concluded that participation within this political space in Mendoza has been crossed by a youth mark left by people from different social classes. In addition, it is stated as a strongly male-dominated space where young people are called upon by the notion of individual freedom and the discredit of progressive policies..

The field of migration studies in Chile has strengthened throughout the last decades. In parallel, the migration pattern has become more complex and dynamic, bringing new topics up to the table, pushing the different disciplines to produce new objects and, consequently, to broaden their perspectives. Within this context, this article suggests the development of an object of study named “second generations”, i.e., daughters and sons of immigrants born in their mothers and fathers´ new country. In order to do so, the field of migration studies is established, some definitions linked to the Chilean context are given, and two conditioning factors that are linked to their socialization in Chile and to the heritage of migratory condition are proposed.

This article analyzes social policies with an educational and labor component, aimed at young people in the province of Córdoba, Argentina between 2020-2021, from a gender perspective. In this case, gender appears as a category of analysis that allows us to account for the complexity of ways of “being young” and thus recognize different views and perspectives. The results show that social policies appear gendered and include some aspects of positive discrimination but do not adopt a transversal perspective that redistributes the exercise of power in relation to gender.

In this article, I intend to rebuild the way in which care work appears in youth studies in Argentina. In order to do this, I put a selection of publications of National Meetings of Red Nacional de Investigadores/as en Juventudes de Argentina (National Network of Male and Female Researchers on Youth in Argentina) into a dialogue with female feminist authors from different feminism branches that show the way in which care is integrated in Latin America. From this conversation, I propose three main lines of discussion within youth studies that are distinguished by the place they give to care work and the young women who carry out it.

In Chile, the percentage of those who call themselves “without religión” is growing. Hence, this identification has gone from being a residual container (the unclassifiable in preconceived answers), to being a fundamental category to understand what is lived in this field. Through interviews and validation workshops with the interviewees themselves, it is concluded that being “without religion” contains in youth a diversity of changes that reveal the search for freedom, detachment from institutions and the conception of a spirituality as something greater than religion.

Introduction: adolescence is a transitional stage, marking the end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood. An adolescent is a diverse world of thoughts and actions that can easily be thrown off balance by situations that transgress his comfort zone, create stress and give a response to the stimulus at the psychological level that can in turn be expressed at the somatic level.Case report: 15-year-old male patient, a high school student, who came to the doctor's office for an unquantified fever of more than 8 hours of evolution. At the time of examination, the patient was afebrile, silent, with no other symptoms that called attention, no direct eye contact, answering guided questions with the help of the mother. Follow-up is indicated. In the second medical visit, the patient reported fever and improvement of the gingival problem, but continued with asthenia and anorexia. In the third follow-up visit, the patient concluded that the patient was an average adolescent, with improvement of systemic symptoms, with evidence of intrafamily problems and school dropout with an extended single-parent family, who experienced evident role changes and school dropout due to intrafamily and school problems. Somatic disease is concluded. Conclusions: from Primary Health Care it is necessary to provide better coverage to somatic conditions, especially in target populations such as adolescence, with an improvement in the quality of comprehensive evaluation of patients with multiple consultations, required by the same or similar symptoms in the absence of evidence of organic damage.

Introduction: keratoconus is a non-inflammatory corneal ectasia that progressively affects the vision of users. Objective: to describe the diagnostic aspects of keratoconus. Methods: a search for information was carried out in the Pubmed, Scopus, Clinical Key and Web of Science databases, by combining terms. Eighty-six references were selected.Development: The eye is surrounded by the sclera, which also covers a small window at the front of the eye where the cornea is located, is often referred to as the white of the eye and gives shape and rigidity to the eyeball. Genetic and environmental factors are involved in susceptibility to keratoconus; however, family history is consistently identified as an important risk factor. Its etiology is not known in detail, although it is known to have a multifactorial origin. The clinical management of keratoconus can be divided into non-surgical and surgical treatment according to the stage of development of the disease. Conclusions: Keratoconus has traditionally been described as a non-inflammatory condition, but more recently it has been associated with ocular inflammation. It usually develops during the second and third decades of life and usually progresses into the fourth decade. The condition affects all ethnicities and both sexes.
